The
Best
Add Zone For You
This is a
perennial question I get asked the most. And it’s understandable too. Many
aspirants who begin their MPPSC preparation are
clueless about this exam’s demands.
Q. Is
coaching necessary?
Think of an elite
sportsman like Virat Kohli. Does he have a personal coach? Yes, he does. But
would you say his career success is purely down to his coach? Of course not.
Kohli trains and suffers day in day out, practices consistently to learn and
improve his game. His self-discipline, hard work and the burning determination
to excel at the game is what makes him the elite player he is.
Same goes with
success in the MPPSC exam. Coaching merely helps you, it does not ensure you a
rank. Your self-study, consistency, and the hard work you put in sitting at
your study table matters far more than what you do in coaching classes.
So if you are
attending coaching classes, do take their mppsc notes, but you should not rely excessively on them and
neglect standard books. In my first Mains, I did this mistake of depending on
coaching notes disproportionately— I barely read any of the standard books.
When I wrote my first Mains in 2012, my lack of conceptual clarity was evident.
Unsurprisingly, I failed to get an interview call.
Always remember
that roughly, not more than 25-30% of your preparation should depend on mppsc coaching
classes. To say that without coaching
you cannot crack UPSC is to tell a lie. There are people who put in even that
25% of work by themselves and have cracked this exam (that is, they might have
read coaching notes, but did not attend any classes.) So, it depends on your
personal belief, self-discipline and your basic level of knowledge to determine
whether you need coaching.
Suppose you know
what standard books to study, what coaching notes to refer to, and by reading
them you can understand the subject, that’s brilliant and you don’t need
coaching.
On the other hand,
if you are clueless about the exam process or the books you need to study,
coaching institutes will help you get a broad idea. But as I said, you still must-read
standard books, make required notes and put in the work to outshine your
competition.
Q.
How do you compare coaching in Delhi versus elsewhere?
As I had said,
coaching does not constitute more than 25-30% of your preparation. And there’s
nothing profound about coaching institutes in Delhi.
For those
preparing in far flung areas, if you cannot afford to go to Delhi, that’s
perfectly alright. You can get MPPSC notesof all the major coaching institutes in most
cities. So make a trip once to your nearby city, buy them from a bookstore and
study on your own.
Also, I believe
internet has truly democratised information and made it accessible even to
rural areas. These days many institutes are providing coaching classes via
video lectures. You can opt for them too.
Moreover, online
websites have emerged as brilliant and affordable alternatives to traditional
coaching institutes. So if you cannot go to Delhi to take coaching, you are not
losing out on anything.
Q.
How helpful are coaching notes? Can they substitute standard books?
Standard books are
important because they are written from the ground up and they form the
foundation of your knowledge. Once you read standard books, reading coaching
notes not only becomes much easier, but you can also see where in that big
picture does a small topic fit in.
The problem with
reading just the mppsc coaching
notesis that they fail to you give
you such big picture perspective. What you will be left with are fragmented
concepts and broken knowledge which doesn’t stick for long in your memory. For
long term memory, we need a topic’s context which is why you should always
start with standard books.
For example, when I started Anthropology, I first read Ember & Ember
to get an overview of the subject. Afterward, when I referred to Sharma Academy
mppsc coaching material, I could clearly see how a particular topic such
as Primate Adaptation fit into the larger concept
of Human Evolution. This is why standard books are
indispensable.
While reading
coaching notes, remember these:
§ Coaching notes are helpful and easy to revise
before the exam. But they can only supplement but never substitute standard
books.
§ Always map your notes onto the chapters and topics
in syllabus. Most coaching institutes do not cover the syllabus entirely. Even
if they do, they usually rush through some chapters. So when you see a topic
not covered well in your notes, read on your own from other sources and make
notes.
§ Coaching notes and material come in handy to cover
a specific topic. For example for a topic like Govt schemes, instead of you
labouring to compile them from ministries’ websites, it’s better that you buy a
compilation booklet of any institute. Smart work saves you a lot of time.
§ You have to remember that UPSC is not at all like a
graduation exam. In college, it’s fairly easy to read just the notes and score
really well. But in UPSC, the questions are of higher standard and of deeper
analytical depth. None of the questions usually come directly from your
coaching notes. It’s your clarity of concepts— especially in optional— that
will help you write good answers.
MPPSC is one of the toughest state exams to crack for aspirants. This
year, more than three lac students have applied for just 360 vacancies, which
means there is only one seat per 1000 students. It’s very competitive and
challenging to crack this exam.
However, with the right strategy and plan, you can prepare yourself well
to increase your chances of acing the exam. You should be studying according to
the latest syllabus and divide your time for each subject correctly.
MPPSC 2021 Exam
Pattern
Before diving into creating a time division and preparation strategy for
the MPPSC exam 2021, let’s first learn about the exam pattern.
The exam takes place in three stages- prelims, mains, and
interviews.
1. MPPSC Prelims
It is the first stage of the MPPSC exam, where the question paper
includes objective questions. First, you have to go through the General Studies
test, within two hours. The maximum marks are 200.
Then, the next is the General Aptitude Test, where you get two hours.
The maximum marks for this one are also 200.
2.
MPPSC Mains
This is the second stage of the MPPSC exam, where you have to appear for
six papers and tests. Here is the list of these papers with maximum marks and
time:
3.
MPPSC Interview
The final stage is the interview, where your personality is tested. The
maximum marks are 175. You may have cracked both the prelims and mains exams,
but if you fail at the interview, you will not be able to reach your final
destination. In the interview, you are not only asked questions about subject
topics, but your personality trait is also examined.
Time-division and
management tips for MPPSC
preparation
1. Create a realistic
timetable
Setting a timetable is an obvious thing to do for every MPPSC aspirant.
If you are not setting up a schedule already, start doing now.
One thing that you need to take care of while creating the timetable is
that it should be realistic, not just strict. Generally, most of the aspirants
create strict timetables to indulge them more in the preparation. However,
these timetables are not realistic, and they end up stressing themselves.
Things look easy when creating a timetable, but when it comes to
execution, you will end up missing the strict deadlines. A realistic timetable
means you will be able to achieve the deadlines without stressing yourself and
prepare yourself better.
2.
Set goals for short periods
With the timetable, you set some goals to achieve in a certain period.
These goals should not be for an extended period in one go.
For example, if your goals are created for the next three months, you
may not be able to prepare more efficiently. If you make goals on a daily or
weekly basis, it will become easier for you to achieve those goals.
Sometimes, our minds believe that the preparation still has time, and
you will recover it in the coming days. This may make you lazy.
3.
Divide the syllabus
Dividing the entire syllabus into subjects, topics, and sub-topics will
help you finish the syllabus in less time. In the time-table, you can specify
the topics to study, rather than mentioning ‘study this subject for 4 hours.
While deciding the topics to be included in the timetable, you can start
placing the easy ones in the first half and then move towards the difficult
ones.
4.
Oragnize the time for study
MPPSC syllabus is a bit vast and time-consuming. You cannot complete the
entire syllabus in a limited time. However, you can organize the time well to
cover as many topics as possible.
The reason many MPPSC aspirants fail is because of the poor time
organization. Hence, once you have created the time table, decide what are you
going to study, how much time will you take to cover the selected subjects and
topics, and how much daily hours will you be able to invest.
As mentioned above, don’t forget that you have to set realistic goals
for your study. Sometimes, you can challenge yourself to study more and cover a
few more topics. Also, have all the required books, MPPSC test series, mppsc notes, and other required materials in place
so that you don’t have to waste the time once the preparation has started.
5.
Switching topics or subjects
There are times when certain topics take a much longer time than
expected. This may be because the matter is tricky or boring, or for any other
reason. Rather than keeping your brain messed up in such topics and wasting
time, you have to realize the potential of switching.
You can jump on to such topics later or in the end. If you waste more
time, maybe you will end up skipping other topics that held equal importance
and were easy to learn.
For tricky topics, you can opt for the best MPPSC coaching in Indoreor in other cities
to learn from expert educators.
6.
Small breaks
MPPSC preparation needs dedication and long hours of regular study. It
is important to take small breaks to keep up the efficiency. Without breaks,
life may become monotonous and affect productivity.
When you take small breaks, your mind refreshes and makes it easier for you
to concentrate and learn. Breaks also help you to maintain a healthy lifestyle
so that you don’t have to forcefully take breaks when you get ill.
Ensure that the breaks are not long, that your study time gets affected,
and it becomes difficult for you to achieve goals.
Wrapping up:
Effective time division and management is crucial for success in the
MPPSC exam. By dividing the subjects and topics to be studied in the set
timetables, you bring a systematic learning approach. Random study routines will
lead you nowhere. Along with learning dedicatedly according to the set
timetables, don’t forget to take small breaks for a refreshed mind.

This must be the first question that all MPPSC
aspirants ask to themselves, their parents, and mentors. And it’s natural when
there is so much to hear about the MPPSC buzz around you. Every candidate
planning to appear in the MPPSC exam faces this and the first thing they do is
to investigate if the MPPSC exam is tough or easy.
If you don’t know about MPPSC, take a moment
to know about it. MPPSC stands for Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission. MPPSC
SSE is one of the most reputed examinations held in India. The top-most
designation one can get cracking the MPPSC exams is DC, DSP etc which stands
for Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of police .
So, this web page discusses everything in
determining How Tough is MPPSC Exam? Well, to be very honest, nothing is easy
and nothing is difficult. If you have patience, hard work, honesty, and
determination, everything is easy else everything seems so difficult. MPPSC can
be cleared following the same logic. MPPSC Coaching in indoreis discussing the factors on the basis of which we can conclude whether the MPPSC
exam is tough or easy.
Factors That Determine How
Tough is MPPSC Exam
Clearing MPPSC is not rocket science. It’s
just a misconception that only university toppers can clear the MPPSC exam.
Anyone can crack the MPPSC exam with average academic records. What all one
needs is the perfect mixture of hard work and smart work plus determination.
Here are some of the factors that may make MPPSC stand out among other
competitive exams and possibly help you to find out the right answer to whether
the MPPSC exam is tough or easy.
Pattern of Examination
Factor No. 1 to figure out How Tough is the MPPSC Exam. MPPSC
examination in India consists of 3 levels or stages.
To reach the next level, a candidate has
to clear the previous level. And there is no secret that as the level changes,
the level of difficulty also rises. The most difficult task is to crack the
interview because at the last stage i.e. interview not only your knowledge is
put to test but your overall personality and ability to deal with practical
challenges as well. So, it would not be wrong to say that the MPPSC exam is
tough when it comes to clearing the 3rd and final stage. Although, in clearing
the first two stages as well, one needs to break the neck.
Syllabus to Cover
The second factor that showcases the
complexity of the exam is its huge syllabus. Indeed, MPPSC is tough as far as
its syllabus is considered. The diversity of subjects demands more determination
and long study hours. Since the role of an MPPSC is not just limited to a
particular field, the subjects to be covered for this examination contains
varied streams. You need to learn each and every subject, whether you like it
or not.
In short, it covers-
Passing Marks to Score
Unlike school or college exams, the passing
score is not just 33%. MPPSC is the race of winning one of India’s most sought
designations. If we analyze the past success rate in MPPSC exams, we get an
idea of whether the MPPSC exam is tough or easy.
The cut off marks in the MPPSC exam is usually
low. The reason being the level of competition is very high. Everyone wants to
try their luck and abilities to break into the stat services. Each year there
are lakhs of people appear for MPPSC prelims exam and only 1/4th i.e. 25% of them pass.
Out of them, those who qualify the mains exam are even less up to 15%. However,
the rate of success is relatively high at the interview stage.
Overall the passing percentage in the MPPSC
exam is less than 1%. Yes, you read it correctly it is just 1%. So, now you can
guess How Tough is MPPSC Exam?
Time Taken For Preparation
You can’t just do it in a month or two. It
takes at least a year to prepare satisfactorily for the MPPSC exams. It is not
possible to cover the hefty syllabus overnight. Proper planning, dedicated
preparation is a must.
The time management is necessary for any
competitive exam preparation if you are a part of some mppsc coaching in indorethen time management will not be a big deal for you.
No Negative Marking in the
Prelims
The MPPSC prelims examination is objective in
nature. This means that you just have to find the correct answer out of the 4
options given with the question. Sounds easy? Hold-on. It’s not that simple. There
is no negative marking in MPPSC Prelims exam. So, either you can be 100% sure
about the correct answer or else yo can attempt it.
The Verdict is…
Post studying and analysing the above factors,
it wouldn’t be wrong to call the MPPSC exam to be tough. And why not? To
achieve that level of designation where you would be responsible for the whole
district, the level of toughness is absolutely fair. All we like to convey to
our readers is that MPPSC is one of the renowned services in India and If you
really want to reach the sky and grab the stars, you should have the courage to
fly high. Stars won’t fall for you.
So, yes! MPPSC is tough but it’s all about mindset. You can do it with hard work, integration, smart work, and better planning and preparation.
All the best!
There are numerous factors that students need to
consider while choosing a coaching. Therefore, most of the students became
nervous when it comes to enrolling in a right coaching for their MPPSC
preparation. Usually, every student prefers to
enroll in an institute that offers quality education, good environment,
affordable fee structure, and flexibility. Here is a list of 10 things you
should know before choosing a mppsc coaching.
1.
Course Availability
Undeniably this is the very first thing that you
will need to know to kick off your coaching studies. For example, if you’re a
under graduate student or a graduate you need 3 year and 1 year course. To
serve this purpose, you can use the internet to figure out nearby mppsc
coachingthat will facilitate you with your desired
qualification.
Nowadays every mppsc coaching has a website that
enables the student to get a clear understanding regarding their services. So
take benefit of the internet and choose the right mppsc coaching
in indorethat will empower you to climb the ladder of
success in your desired field.
2.
Quality of Faculty
Once you figure out the right coaching for your
career advancement then looks for the right trainers. Faculty members are the
backbone of every coaching. Therefore, wisely choose one that has the best
faculty. If the coaching is offering well-qualified faculty, then you can get
real world skills with a quality education from them.
In addition look for the resources of learning
which are provided to faculty members. When faculty members are well-equipped
with study resources they enable students to learn in a proactive way.
3.
Cost of Course
Cost is an important factor to consider while
choosing a mppsc coaching
in indore. For this, you will need to figure out coaching
that match with your study budget. No doubt the cost of private coaching is
rising significantly in the last few years.
4.
Location of Campus
You can’t ignore the importance of location when it
comes to choosing a coaching. The majority of students want to enroll in a
nearby institute to save a hefty amount of money and time. If you’re enrolled
in a low-cost course at an institute that is far away from your home, then you
will remain in the loss. This is because you will need to consume a hefty
amount of money in transportation. In case you’re living in an urban area and
you want to study in a rural area with peace of mind then the condition is
different.

their expenses. If you’re also engaged in a part-time job, then you should choose
a mppsc coachingwith flexible class timings.

to balance your family life in case you’re a married person. For this, you can
download the course schedule from your desire coaching website to learn about
class timing in advance.
6.
On Campus Living
