Changing the password of Outlook linked accounts

Though, you can change the password of the account linked to Outlook from their own password reset page. But, if you want to change the password that you use to access that email services in Outlook (App passwords), then you can reset it directly from the Outlook app. Here is how.

  1. Open your Outlook app.
  2. And, click ‘File’ at the top left corner.
  3. Click ‘Info’ in the popup menu. This will open the account information section.

In Outlook 2003, you need to click on ‘Tools’ and then click on ‘E-mail Accounts’ in the popup menu.

4. Open the ‘Account Settings’ menu and then click on ‘Account Settings.“ Doing so displays all the accounts linked to Outlook.

In Outlook 2003, click on ‘View or change existing email accounts.’

5. Look for the account whose Outlook password you want to change and select it.

Note: This will not change the actual password of the linked email account. If you want to change the sign-in password of the account, then visit the password-resetting page of that email service.

  1. After selecting the account, click on the ‘Change’ button. This will show you the information of the selected account.
  2. Go to the Logon Information section, and click inside the ‘Password’ field.
  3. Now, enter the password into it.
  4. Click ‘Next.’

The changes in the password will be saved. Now, Outlook will attempt to access the account with your provided password. If everything is fine, Congratulations! message will appear.

Changing the password of your Outlook Account (Microsoft)

The password of your Outlook, Live, and Hotmail email is the password of your Microsoft account. As all of these accounts need the Microsoft account for signing in. Therefore, to change the Outlook account’s password, you’ll need to reset the password of your Microsoft account. Hence, this will change the password of the entire services associated with Microsoft, such as your Windows, Xbox Live, as well as Skype password. If you are sure about changing the password of your Outlook (Microsoft) account, then here is the procedure.

  1. Go to ‘account.live.com/password/reset’ to access the password-resetting page of Microsoft.
  2. Click ‘I forgot my password’ option and proceed with ‘Next.’
  3. Now, provide the email of your Outlook (Microsoft) account and enter the correct captcha.
  4. Click ‘Next.’
  5. Now, select an option to verify your identity and proceed.

  8. Now, enter and confirm your new password and save.

The password of your Outlook account will be changed. Thus, the password for Microsoft and complete Microsoft associated services has been changed. Now, you’ll need to use this password to access your Outlook account as well as other Microsoft services.

Outlook is an email client of the Microsoft, provided in almost all Microsoft Office Suite. When Outlook detects any unusual activities in an account, including while signing in, Outlook blocks the account because of security concerns. Outlook blocks most of the account only for security reasons, but no matter what’s the reason, having an account blocked is frustrating. In this guide, you’ll know several methods to fix a blocked Outlook Account,

METHOD 1:

1.    Launch a browser on your PC or mobile.

2.    Enter “account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx” into the address bar.

3.    Hit ‘Enter’ key. This will directly open the account recovery and reset password page of Microsoft.

4.    Now, type the email address of your suspended Outlook account.

5.    Next, type the characters showing on the screen.

6.    Click the ‘Next’ button. The authenticator app will generate a code.

7.    Enter the generated code. If you didn’t get any code, click on ‘Use a different verification option.’

8.    Enter the security code you received. This code will be used to confirm that you want to reset your password.

9.    Type the password of your choice that you want to use but, make sure to set a unique and robust password.

10.    And, follow the screen instruction to get your account back.

After completing all the above steps, you’ll be able to access your suspended Outlook account once again.

If you’re unable to access your account with the above (Method 1), try using the second method.

METHOD 2:

1.    Go to Outlook.com.

2.    Try to sign in to your suspended Microsoft account. Microsoft will ask you to provide a phone number to send you a security code.

3.    Enter a phone number. You can enter any phone number it’s not mandatory to only enter the registered number.

4.    After entering the number, proceed to next. You’ll get a message with a security code on your phone.

5.    Type the code and continue. You’ll be prompted to change the password.

6.    Type the password of your choice that you want to use but, make sure to set a unique and robust password.

Once you changed the password, you’ll be able to use your suspended Outlook account once again.

If still, you’re unable to access your Outlook account, try this.

•    Check whether you spelled your email address correctly.

•    While entering the password, make sure the ‘Caps Lock’ is off.

•    Try clearing the browser’s history.

•    Change the browser and trying singing in into different one.

If you have performed everything correctly, you’ll be able to sign in to your account. Now, check your relevant emails and work. If you want this would not happen in the future, enter your password correctly at the time of login and follow Microsoft terms of using.
