PRO BASKETBALLOAKLAND, Calif. Nike Air Max 1 Australia . -- David West is disgusted with the choice of Donald Trump for president. The guy who got elected, its not just the fact he got elected but people voted for him, West said after shootaround. Thats the disheartening thing. I just think a lot of the things he was saying publicly, the majority of this country feels privately. They proved that through their vote. ... He got the platform. The Golden State Warriors met to discuss Trumps win over Hillary Clinton. Coach Steve Kerr expressed disappointment in the result and the discourse in the election, saying Trump regularly used racist, misogynist, insulting words more appropriate for The Jerry Springer Show than a presidential election. The whole process has left all of us feeling disgusted and disappointed, Kerr said. I thought we were better than this.Clippers coach Doc Rivers, meanwhile, struck a reassuring tone. Were all going to be OK everyone, he said before the Clippers hosted Portland. Donald Trump is going to be president and thats something I never thought Id have to say. I believe overall America works.CLEVELAND -- LeBron James and his Cavaliers teammates will be at the White House on Thursday. An unexpected guest will be there, too.The visit by the reigning NBA champions will coincide with President-elect Donald Trumps meeting with President Barack Obama to discuss the handover of power and transition following a shocking election that left James -- and millions of Americans -- wondering about the future.Gov. John Kasich, a onetime Republican presidential rival who refused to endorse Trump and boycotted the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, also was to visit the White House on Thursday.James had supported Trumps Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, appearing on stage with the former secretary of state at a campaign rally Sunday to urge Cleveland residents to vote.PRO FOOTBALLSAN DIEGO -- Voters overwhelmingly rejected a measure that would have raised $1.15 billion from increased hotel occupancy taxes to help pay for a new stadium for the San Diego Chargers.Measure C, which was written by the Chargers without input from City Hall, the powerful tourism industry or other stakeholders, was defeated 57 percent to 43 percent. It needed 66.7 percent to pass.Team chairman Dean Spanos, whose attempt to move the Chargers to the Los Angeles suburb of Carson angered fans and was rebuffed by fellow NFL owners in January, said in a statement Wednesday that he will consider his options. He said a decision wont be announced until after the season and no decision will be made in haste.Measure C would have increased the hotel tax to help pay for a $1.8 billion stadium and convention center annex in the southeast corner of downtown near Petco Park, the home of MLBs Padres. The Chargers have been trying since 2000 to replace aging Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley.COLLEGE FOOTBALLMADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin will prohibit nooses and ropes from home athletic events as part of revised standards being put in place after a fan wore an offensive costume to a football game. The school said in a statement that nooses and ropes will be treated as weapons that constitute a threat to safety. The fan behavior, carry-in and ticket policies were revised to read, in part, that Any person who engages in violent, threatening, abusive or otherwise disorderly conduct which tends to provoke a disturbance or incite violence will be ejected from our events.A fan wore what appeared to be a President Barack Obama mask with a noose around its neck to the Badgers game on Oct. 29 against Nebraska. Security officers asked the man to remove the noose in the first but a photo taken later shows him wearing the noose again. The changes will go into effect starting this weekend.BASEBALLNEW YORK -- Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, who died in a boating accident in September, was voted the NL comeback player of the year by his peers in the annual Players Choice Awards of the Major League Baseball Players Association.Fernandez was the 2013 NL Rookie of the Year, had Tommy John surgery the following year, returned in July 2015 and was 16-8 with a 2.86 ERA this season, earning his second All-Star selection. He died at age 24 on Sept. 25, and autopsy reports released by the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiners Office said he had cocaine and alcohol in his system when his boat crashed into a Miami Beach jetty.SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The baseball players union has fired arbitrator Fredric Horowitz, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the firing was not publicly announced.Dan Halem, Major League Baseballs chief legal officer, informed general managers at their meeting this week. The players association made the decision after Horowitz ruled against it in an injury assignment case involving Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Charlie Culberson. The players association declined comment, spokesman Greg Bouris said.Horowitz, 68, started as baseballs neutral arbitrator in June 2012. He replaced Shyam Das, who had held the position since 1999 but was fired by management following his decision to overturn Ryan Brauns 50-game suspension for a positive drug test.In Horowitzs most notable decision, he reduced Alex Rodriguezs 211-game suspension to 162 games, a penalty imposed for violations of baseballs drug agreement and labor contract.OLYMPICSLAUSANNE, Switzerland -- Donald Trumps election as U.S. president has the potential to influence Los Angeles chances of hosting the 2024 Olympics. For better or worse. Some International Olympic Committee members -- who will choose among Los Angeles, Paris and Budapest, Hungary, in a vote next September -- cited possible pros and cons of Trumps role in the American bid.As a polarizing presidential candidate, Trumps words on Muslims, Mexicans and other issues could have offended some of the 98 IOC members from around the world who will select the host city.It may have, the IOCs longest-serving member, Dick Pound of Canada, told The Associated Press. At the same time, Pound did not rule out the possibility that Trump could help win votes if he travels to Lima, Peru, in September to pitch the Los Angeles bid in person to the IOC ahead of the secret ballot. PETERSBURG, Florida - J.A. Happ and Alex Cobb stood side by side on Sunday afternoon and called on Major League Baseball to provide pitchers with the option to wear protective head gear. "Whether that pitcher wants to pitch with head gear or not is up to him but I definitely think there should be an option," said Cobb. "I havent heard too much but I do know that its moving in the right direction and hopefully there will be an option by next year." The league has been studying different prototypes, including caps with enhanced padding, since last offseason. So far nothing has been approved. "I think youd be crazy not to look into it if it was available," said Happ. "I think function is the big issue. We were struck in the ear so like I said it would almost have to be a helmet situation. If it was functional and comfortable and didnt hinder the performance at all then absolutely." Both pitchers are linked by separate, equally scary, incidents at Tropicana Field this season. It was May 7 when Happ, pitching to Desmond Jennings in the second inning of an eventual 6-4 win, was struck in the side of the head by a line drive. He crumpled to the ground. Onlookers thought he was out cold even though he wasnt, and eventually he was carted off the field. Happ suffered a minor skull fracture behind his left ear. Stitches repaired a nasty gash to his ear. The worst of his injuries, however, were to his right knee. He suffered strained MCL and PCL ligaments when his leg buckled underneath him. Air Max 1 Sale Cheap. Happs return, which came exactly three months after the incident, would have been much sooner if not for the knee trouble. Almost six weeks after Happ was hurt, an Eric Hosmer line drive hit Cobb in the head in the fifth inning of the June 15 Rays-Royals game. Cobb suffered a concussion and had to work through the effects of his head trauma before returning to the majors on Thursday, exactly two months after the incident. The two men didnt know each other beforehand and since, theyve kept in touch via text messages and have struck up a friendship. While neither relied on the other for support through the recovery process, they share a bond very few can understand. "Not too many people know what youve gone through on a personal level so to know his battles, although they were different, they were almost more severe and more troublesome in some cases with his knee," said Cobb. "Its really nice to see him back out on a big league field and pitching well, too." Happ happened to be watching at the time Cobb was injured. "It was just such a surreal thing," said Happ. "Again, just to see him and be able to catch up and see that the healing has taken place, thats the biggest thing. Definitely a scare with some of the issues that he had to deal with that I didnt. "He had a little bit more to overcome in that sense and really glad to see he was able to do that." ' ' '
Ian Holloway is back with his Sky Bet EFL predictions with some mouth-watering clashes from across the Championship, League One and League Two. Nike Vapormax Wholesale . There is plenty of action across Sky Sports this weekend, After QPR v Brentford live on Friday night, its the turn of Blackburn and Wolves on Saturday evening, before another derby - this time in the Midlands - as Birmingham welcome local rivals Aston Villa to St Andrews on Sunday afternoon live on Sky Sports 2 HD. Les Ferdinands journey Les Ferdinand is cycling to Amsterdam but the journey with QPR might be his biggest challenge. You can follow all the 3pm games across the three leagues on Soccer Saturday with highlights on Sky Sports digital platforms at full-time - but heres what EFL expert and Sky Sports pundit Holloway is predicting for a selection of 10 games this weekend:  Blackburn v Wolves (Saturday, 5.30pm, live on Sky Sports 1)Im watching this one in the studio, and Ill go for a surprising Blackburn win. I think losing their manager would have shaken Wolves. Sky Sports News HQs Pete Colley has the latest from the Wolves training ground. as Zenga departs less than three months after taking over. I dont understand why they sacked Walter Zenga. I think its the modern way football clubs are sold on. It hasnt worked out how they wanted so the Chinese owners have got rid of him but you have to ask, what can you do in that sort of time? OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-0 with Ben Marshall to score first (Sky Bet odds 50/1) Blackburn vs Wolves October 29, 2016, 5:15pm Live on Get Sky Sports Get a Sky Sports pass Birmingham v Aston Villa (Sunday, 12pm, live on Sky Sports 2)I wish I was going to this one with Steve Bruce going back to his old stomping ground. I think it will be too tight to call but it will be a really exciting game with goals.  Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Fulham. Bruces start has been brilliant. It is exactly what they needed. I dont know why the players didnt respond to Roberto Di Matteo but it just proves that Bruce and Neil Warnock know what theyre doing. Some of us managers are pretty good!OLLIE PREDICTS: 2-2 with Lukas Jutkiewicz to score first (Sky Bet odds 70/1) Birmham vs A Villa October 30, 2016, 11:30am Live on Get Sky Sports Get a Sky Sports pass Preston v Newcastle (Saturday, 3pm)Its deja vu! I hope it doesnt go the same way for Preston like the 6-0 defeat it midweek and it will be a totally different situation. Preston are really good at home but Newcastle are looking like the real deal at the minute. OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-2 with with Mo Diame to score first (Sky Bet odds 35/1) Highlights of the EFL Cup round of 16 match between Newcastle and Preston. Brighton v Norwich (Saturday, 3pm)I think Brighton will just edge it. With Chris and his team at home and Norwich losing in midweek on penalties, I think Brighton will grind it out between two of the best teams in the division. They are very difficult to play at the Amex. I think it will be a tight game, not that high scoring. OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-0 with Glenn Murray to score first (Sky Bet odds 22/1) Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship match between Wigan and Brighton. Derby v Sheffield Wednesday (Saturday, 3pm)These fixtures are much better than the Premier League, theyre fantastic! Derby last week just lost 1-0 to Huddersfield and boy, do they need to win this game. Can I see them doing it, that is the question? I cant unfortunately and I think Steven Fletcher will score first. He hasnt got many but hes a high quality player. Steve McClaren needs to get his Derby side believing in themselves again, says Holloway Derbys problem is goals. They need to get more balls into the box and more bodies. I think they are an attacking team and they need to try and blitz every game if they can. Its much more entertaining and its what Steve McClaren had them doing before.Derby need to start believing in themselves as a group, not just individuals and Im sure if they can get a couple of goals at the weekend, that might help them but Sheffield Wednesday are gradually creeping up in the play-offs and getting better. I think Wednesday will be too much for them although for Derbys sake, I hope Im wrong. OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-2 with Steven Fletcher to score first (Sky Bet odds 45/1) Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship match between Huddersfield and Derby. Fulham v Huddersfield (Saturday, 3pm)I dont know which Fulham is going to turn up, they are like Jekyll and Hyde. They are brilliant one week and not quite so good the next. They have plenty of talent and are trying to build a young team but they do have a bit of inexperience.  Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.99. No contract. I fancy Huddersfield to keep going again after David Wagners celebration when beating Derby. Everyone was writing them off when they lost two in a row, will it be three? I just cant see them losing another.OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-2 with Nahki Wells to score first (Sky Bet odds 35/1)Cardiff v Wigan (Saturday, 3pm)Neil Warnock is working his magic again and I can only see that continuing. Wigan need to sort out who they want as their manager and get going again. They play some wonderful football and won the division last year but now they are struggling a little bit and need some more goals really.  Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship match between Nottingham Forest and Cardiff. Im going to give first goalscorer to resurgence of Peter Whittingham and his left foot. Its like a wand, they should call him Harry Potter!OLLIE PREDICTS: 2-1 with Peter Whittingham to score first (Sky Bet odds 66/1)Bolton v Port Vale (Saturday 3pm) Bolton move up to second in League One following a 2-0 victory at neighbours Bury. Two good teams but I fancy Bolton to nick it. At that stadium, it is very tough to go there. It is a proper ground and Phil Parkinson will have them really well organised. They will be big and strong and I think it will just be too tough of a task for Port Vale. Theyll be too hard to break down.OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-0 with Zach Clough to score first (Sky Bet odds 20/1)Sheffield United v MK Dons (Saturday, 3pm) Highlights of the Sky Bet League One match between Bradford and Sheffield United. I can only give this to Sheffield United. They are really on a roll now and I can only see them getting stronger. MK Dons have got to decide who they want in charge and go for it but I think they will struggle this weekend. OLLIE PREDICTS: 3-0 with Billy Sharp to score first (Sky Bet odds 35/1)Fridays prediction...QPR v BrentfordI can only go with a home win. I think QPR have settled back down, Brentford are playing a lot better as well but I fancy a home win. QPR will just have enough in their tank to beat them so Im going to go for a 1-0, very close fought victory. OLLIE PREDICTED: 1-0 and Nedum Onuoha to score first Also See: Les Ferdinand’s journey Bruce: Changes paying off Rafa keeps focus on promotion Transfer Centre LIVE! With Parker having a quiet game for once, Nicolas Batum and Boris Diaw provided the scoring as France won its first major basketball title by beating Lithuania 80-66 on Sunday. COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Perry Hills leads the Big Ten in completion percentage and has proven to be invaluable for Maryland as a passer, rusher and senior leader. All of those positives are wasted on Hills, who cant help lamenting the injuries that prevented him from thoroughly enjoying his final season with the Terrapins.Hills has missed two games and was knocked out of two others. Thats his takeaway from a season in which he has thrown 10 touchdown passes and carried Maryland (5-6, 2-6) to the brink of bowl eligibility. Its been pretty rewarding, Hills said Tuesday, but the frustration sets in because you keep saying, `What if? What if?Coming off a season in which he threw 13 interceptions compared to eight TD passes, Hills won the starting job over the summer for first-year coach DJ Durkin. The Terrapins got off to a 4-0 start before Hills hurt his right shoulder in the first half at Penn State.Maryland lost that game, then fell at home to Minnesota with an injured Hills watching from the sideline.Hills returned to beat Michigan State, but two weeks later was injured at Michigan. He started the following week against Ohio State but left in the first quarter with a left shoulder injury.I went in the locker room and said, `Man, God must not want me to play. Im already going through one bad shoulder and hes going to go out and try and give me another, Hills said. It was definitely heart-wrenching. Its like, anything that can go wrong has gone wrong. What on earth?Hills could not recover to face Nebraska last week , and his status for Saturdays home game against Rutgers (2-9, 0-8) is uncertain.I look for Perry to continue to improve this week, get him back healthy and hopefully go out there and help our senior class go get a win, Durkin said. All five of Marylands victories this season have come with Hills in the starting lineup, whicch says as much about his effectiveness as his 66. Cheap Nike Vapormax Shoes. 7 percent completion percentage. As goes Hills, so go the Terps. Three other quarterbacks have stepped in during his absence, combining for three TD passes, five interceptions and nary a victory. If Hills had stayed healthy, who knows? Maryland probably would have already sewn up a bowl berth and Hills could look back on his final college season with no remorse.Hes certainly fought through a lot of things, Durkin said. You wish he was healthier throughout the whole year. His year would be way more reflective of the type of player and young man he is. In many ways our team and our season would have reflected that, too.Funny thing is, with the exception of a torn ACL as a freshman, Hills has been impervious to injury at Maryland -- until this year. Its definitely been frustrating, he said. Last year I took a lot more hits and didnt really get injured. On a day Maryland bids farewell to its seniors and seeks to earn a bowl berth, his teammates want Hills in the huddle.I came in with Perry and Ive seen him grow so much over the past five years, offensive lineman Michael Dunn said. Hes been through a lot over that time. To have the opportunity to finish his career off with a win over Rutgers and go to a bowl game, that would be a special moment.Hills heads toward the weekend uncertain exactly when his career will end -- or if hes already taken his last snap in a game situation.Nothings given, he said. So you just have to go out and enjoy every second that you get in practice and workouts. Even though it can be really hard sometimes, Im going to really miss it.---More AP college football at www.collegefootball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25. ' ' '

Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC failed to make the postseason while Montreal Impact fell at the first hurdle losing heavily to Houston Dynamo in the Eastern Conference Knockout Round. As the Houston Astros battle to stay in the playoff chase, its not clear whether two starters who helped them to the postseason last year will do the same this year.Left-hander Dallas Keuchel, who has been sidelined with shoulder inflammation, said Monday that he is not ready to resume throwing. Hes been out since Aug. 27 and said Friday that he would reassess his situation Sunday. That re-evaluation has been pushed back to Wednesday.Right-hander Lance McCullers, meanwhile, hasnt thrown off a mound as he tries to come back from a sprained elbow suffered Aug. 2.Its going to depend on where were at as a team and where theyre at, Astros manager A.J. Hinch said Monday, according to the Houston Chronicle. Our idea is to continue positive progress with these guys and not set a timeline or a necessary deadline for them to have to meet. Otherwise well threaten further injury. One more setback for any of these guys, and its over.Keuchel, 28, won 20 games and the Cy Young llast season for an Astros team that advanced to the division series, losing to the eventual World Series champion Royals. Salomon Sale Clearance. . McCullers, 22, was counted on to be a big part of the Astros this season after an encouraging rookie campaign.Astros starters are struggling at the wrong time. Houston is 3? games out of the second wild card and 4-6 in its past 10 games. Hinch acknowledged that the team is walking a tightrope with the two pitchers.Theyre not doing enough to be ruled in or out, Hinch said, according to the newspaper. McCullers is the closest guy, but you can play catch all you want -- until you get on the mound, its when you really get serious about pitching. Keuchels not throwing yet, so theres certainly some concern on both of theirs for different reasons because of where we are on the schedule, but well go day-to-day. ' ' '
Brendon Santalab has already blotted his seal of approval on any potential Western Sydney bid for Dimitar Berbatov, saying hed jump at the chance to play with the former Manchester United striker. Vans Shoes Outlet Uk .Berbatov is the latest prospective marquee linked to the Wanderers as the A-League club attempt to solve what, before last weekends 4-1 rout of Central Coast, appeared to be a goal drought. With the apparently imminent capture of Robbie Keane looking more unlikely by the day, coach Tony Popovics hunt for a striker continues as he aims to bolster his squad before the Asian Champions League starts in February. The urgent need for a reliable scorer was highlighted by Popovics decision to start 19-year-old Lachlan Scott against the Mariners instead of Kerem Bulut, whos yet to score and was again left out of the match-day squad.Santalab has scored five goals this season but is used mostly as a substitute. And while the club declined to comment on reports theyd been alerted to free-agent Berbatovs availability, Santalab believed the 35-year-old Bulgarian would make an ideal addition.Yeah, definitely. Hes a superstar, isnt he, Santalab said. The names being thrown about are quite special, and to play up front with the couple that have been mentioned would be incredible and only strengthen our squad. With the ACL coming up its an exciting time for us so well see who Popa brings in, if anybody comes in January. The main concern around Berbatov might be his fitness given the former Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen mainstay hasnt played since leaving Greek outfit PAOK at the end of June.Meanwhile, Keanes strong work ethic and record 68 goals for Ireland make the departing LA Galaxy star a highly attractive proposition for Popovic. However, the 36-year-olds wage demands, which have already ruled Brisbane out of the race for his signature, appear too high for the Wanderers.Western Sydney will host Melbourne Victory at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night, a day after Sydney FC and Melbourne City play at the same venue.A win would not only be sweet revenge after Victory downed the Wanderers 3-0 in round six, but also a chance to crack the top four.(Third-placed) Victory are where we want to be, Santalab said. For us its a big game, especially at home - we havent won at home yet and we need to get that monkey off our back and keep moving forward. Philadelphia is 2-0 against the Senators this season and scored five goals in each victory. The Flyers recorded a 5-0 win in Ottawa on Nov. 12 and then earned a 5-2 home decision on Nov. 19. The Flyers have claimed three straight and four of the last five encounters with the Sens overall and Philly has won two in a row and three of its past four tests in Canadas capital city. MIAMI -- LeBron James could not sleep after Game 6. Imagine, then, how frayed his emotions will be going into Game 7. So much is at stake. Legacies, for so many players, James included. The NBA championship. Whether the season was a success or a bust. How he will be portrayed over the next few months. How history will judge a Miami Heat team that won 27 straight games in one stretch, 66 games in the regular season and now 81 games overall. Although the Heat will insist otherwise, the common belief is that it all hinges on James shoulders. And the four-time NBA MVP wouldnt have it any other way when his Heat take on the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night. "I want to go down as one of the greatest. I want our team to go down as one of the greatest teams. And we have an opportunity to do that," James said. "Hasnt been many teams to win back-to-back championships. Its so hard. Its the hardest thing. I said last year it was the hardest thing Ive ever done, winning my first. Last year dont even come close to what weve gone through in this post-season and in these Finals." James was so weary afterward that he had trouble pulling himself up from the chair where he conducted postgame interviews. But on Wednesday, even after a night of no sleep -- "everything goes through your mind after a game," he said -- James said he was already feeling more spry than he was the night before. More rest, more treatment, some time at home with family and friends and a scheduled 9 p.m. date to watch SpongeBob with his kids, James figured that was the right formula to get ready for Game 7. His second ring is 48 minutes away. If it comes, it will be earned. "First of all, Im blessed, man. I dont even know how I got here," James said. "I wasnt supposed to be in the NBA, if you go by statistics and things of me growing up where I grew up. Every time I go into my locker room and see the James on the back of an NBA jersey, Im like, Wow. No criticism can deter me from playing this game because of that. Im not supposed to be here." He means that in a more broad sense, but in simplest terms, that also applies to Thursday night. The Heat probably arent supposed to be there. They were down by five points with less than a half-minute to go in regulation of Game 6. The championship celebration was being readied, literally around them. The Spurs were about to get their hands on the Larry OBrien Trophy, and the Heat were about to slink off into another off-season of utter disappointment. Until, of course, none of that happened. James made a 3-pointer to get Miami within two, and after the Spurs gave Miami life by missing a free throw, Ray Allen sent it to overtime with another 3-pointer. In the extra session, James and the Heat found a way to pull out a 103-100 win, one that left Miami exhausted and San Antonio devastated. They collide one last time on Thursday with all eyes on James, who strugglled for much of the game and still finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Cheap Vans Shoes Wholesale. "He had an off triple-double," Heat guard Mike Miller said. "I cant have an on triple-double." In James lifetime, only four franchises -- Chicago, the Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit and Houston -- have won consecutive championships. Miami can be the fifth, and even though Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is cautioning his team to not think about the potential prize, James said "human nature" dictates that he has to at least daydream a little bit about what might be looming. "I will play Game 7 in my head from now until tomorrow night," James said. "Its just who I am, how I am. But I wont be too serious. I wont go into a bunker when I get back home. But I will be mentally sharp, mentally focused and mentally driven tomorrow night." For the most part, the Spurs have found a way in this series to keep James under some sort of control, and thats even with him dropping two triple-doubles on them in six games so far. They wont change their approach for Game 7. And the Heat dont expect James to change his, either. In fact, some say hell set the tone long before the opening tip. "I expect LeBron to be LeBron," Heat forward Shane Battier said. "Hes going to be loose. Usually, in shootaround, he does some dunks that would win any dunk contest if they were televised. Thats his way of saying, OK, Im ready to go. Hes going to come here, hes going to listen to his music and hes going to do what LeBron does. If theres one guy we dont have to worry about, its LeBron." James has kept his phones off during the playoffs. Hes stayed away from social media. He has tried to limit how much he hears of what the Heat call the noise, all the constant analysis of a team that has alternated wins and losses for the last month -- and now needs one last two-game winning streak to wrap up their second title. "I dont know how it is possible," Miller said of James turning off the outside world, as much as he can, at this time of year. "I tell him all the time, I wouldnt want to be in his shoes. Its not always fun being the greatest player on the planet. But he handles it about as good as Ive ever seen anyone." It could be a great deal of fun for James on Thursday night. If Miami pulls this off, a second straight Finals MVP award will likely be his, to go with the four regular-season MVPs. Hell be a two-time champion, to go along with his two Olympic gold medals. Others have won more titles and more MVPs, but poking holes in James resume will become a considerably tougher task, even for his biggest naysayers. "We cant worry about what the history books say. Thats why its history," James said. "We have to live in the present. We have to live in the moment. And we have to do whatever it takes to bring that trophy -- or to keep that trophy -- here in Miami." ' ' '
KANSAS CITY, Mo. Under Armour Sale Clearance Uk . -- Hector Santiago and Ian Kennedy are two pitchers going in opposite directions.Alex Gordon homered twice and doubled, Kennedy pitched eight sharp innings and the Royals extended their winning streak to seven games, beating the Minnesota Twins 10-0 Saturday night. While Kennedy has an 0.79 ERA in his past five starts, Santiago has had problems keeping the ball in the park and finding a win since joining the Twins.Santiago was tagged for eight runs and 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings. The lefty is 0-4 with a 10.89 ERA since the Twins acquired him in an Aug. 1 trade with the Los Angeles Angels. He yielded three homers to the Royals and has permitted seven home runs and 32 hits in 19 innings with Minnesota.Too many pitches in the middle of the zone, too many mistakes, Santiago said.Twins manager Paul Molitor echoed Santiagos sentiments.Hes leaving pitches too much over the middle, hitters counts, certain times along the way when youve got an opportunity with open bases to try to make better pitches and they were just taking advantage of the mistakes, Molitor said. So, its tough for us when we get behind.Kennedy had a nice night for them. Their starting pitching has kind of been sticking it to us the first three days, but in Hectors case, its just one of those things where hes got to keep working and trying to find a better feel to where he gets the ball to where he needs to get it, he said. The Royals string is their best since they won seven straight in April 2015. The World Series champions have won 12 of 14 to move back into the AL wild-card race.Gordon has homered five times in five games. He connected in the fourth inning and again in the fifth for his fourth career multihomer game and his first since May 18, 2014.Kennedy (8-9) gave up four hits, walked none and struck out six. He allowed only one runner past second base.Kennedys got a sneaky fastball, Twins star Brian Dozier said. And he lives away. He was getting the call all night about three or four inches off. He kept peppering us. Its what veteran pitchers do. He kept getting it and we tried to make adjustments.Obviously with a good pitcher like that, and you give up run after run after run from the third inning on, its tough to play catch up, he said.Kennedy has allowed no more than one run while pitching at least six innings in that five-start span, tying a team record. Larry Gura had a parallel streak in 1981.Salvador Perez and Gordon hit back-to-back home runs in a four-run fifth, chasing Hector Santiago (10-8).Lorenzo Cain doubled twice, singled and drove in three runs.NO DOZIER HOMERDozier had homered in seven straight games hed started against the Royals before going 0 for 4.TWINS RECALL MEJIALHP Adalberto Mejia, acquired by the Twins from the Giants in a July 28 trade for Eduardo Nunez, was recalled from Triple-A Rochester, where he was 1-2 with a 4.66 ERA in three starts. The team said Kiermaier was bothered by left hip tightness.Kiermaiers status will be evaluated Saturday.Franklin flied out in the third inning.I thought everything was fine, Franklin said. Genevieve LaCaze has carried her stellar Olympic form into the Paris Diamond League meet, smashing the Australian record in the fastest womens 3000m steeplechase of all-time. Cheap Asics Shoes Online .Kenyan-born Olympic champion Ruth Jebet from Bahrain stripped more than six seconds off the world record with a winning time of eight minutes 52.78 seconds.LaCaze took advantage of the cracking pace to finish sixth in 9:14.28.The 27-year-old was more than four seconds inside the previous national record of 9:18.35, set by Donna MacFarlane in 2008, as she recorded her 15th personal best time of the year.I set this (record) time as my background on my phone the other week because I knew I had it in me but to come out and break it by four seconds is incredible, said LaCaze.Every race pretty much has been a step forward this year. This was my 15th PB which is so hard to believe but they have all been baby steps towards where I need to be.I was so happy with ninth at the Olympics but after tonight I am already hungry for a better position in the world.I have started writing my goals for 2017. There is so much more to achieve. Not to be outdone, LaCazes partner Ryan Gregson bettered his PB in the non-championship mens 3000m in Paris with a time of 7:44.90.Earlier this month in Rio, Gregson became the first Australian man in 40 years to contest an Olympic 1500m final. And to round off a superb evening in Paris for Nic Bideaus training group, Zoe Buckman improved her PB by finishing 11th in the womens 1500m in 4:03.22.Rising sprint star Ella Nelson was fifth in the 200m in 22.82. MADISON, Wis. -- Linebacker Vince Biegel attributes Wisconsins success in the face of injuries in part to a refrain familiar in college football locker rooms across the country. What makes the sixth-ranked Badgers stand out is that they have thrived with the next man up philosophy.Tough-as-nails defense has been a constant this season in Madison, helping Wisconsin seize control of the Big Ten West division. The Badgers (8-2, 5-2, No. 7 CFP) can ensure a trip to the league championship game by winning their final two regular-season contests, starting Saturday at Purdue .Weve had some unfortunate luck with players going down, but it goes down to the players that we have, and the mindset they have to step in, Biegel said.A senior leader, Biegel has played for three head coaches. Bret Bielema was still in Madison when Biegel arrived as a redshirt freshman in 2012. Gary Andersen followed for the next two seasons before current coach Paul Chryst took over in 2015.Biegel loves playing for Chryst, a Madison native who has restored stability. As a former Wisconsin player, Chryst embodies the grind-it-out, no-nonsense style on which the program prides itself. While Wisconsin would love to collect five-star recruits, the Badgers seem just fine with molding and developing lesser-regarded prospects.Ive overlooked at times the culture we have at the University of Wisconsin, because its just ingrained in you from Day 1, the precedent and standard we set here, Biegel said. Its not the five-star, the four guys we dont get. Its the hard work in the offseason, the dedication, the focus we have. That attitude, in turn, is handed down from each generation of Badgers, Biegel said, transcending coaching tenures. The Badgers are third in the FBS in scoring defense (12.7 points a game) and eighth in total defense (292.5 yards). Theyre tops in the Big Ten in rushing defense 101.0 yards per game. And theyve done it through a mix of injuries.Starting inside linebacker Chris Orr was lost for the season in the opener against LSU with a knee injury. Jack Cichy, a fellow starter inside, went down with a season-ending pectoral muscle injury lasst month against Iowa. Cheap Authentic Asics Shoes. Biegel missed two games with a foot injury. The Badgers lost both games -- to top-five teams Michigan and Ohio State -- but the defense still performed well with Garret Dooley filling in for Biegel. The Badgers held Michigan to a season-low point total in the 14-7 loss . Dooley remains an important player in the linebacker rotation.Low-key like Chryst, defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox heaps the praise on how his players up and down roster get ready. The guys have done a really good job of understanding the importance of practice, how its their time of going over their craft, Wilcox said. All the components that give you the opportunities to have some success.Ryan Connelly and Leon Jacobs have both been more than capable replacements for Cichy, the leading tackler at the time of his injury. In the secondary, Lubern Figaro has improved through the year after taking over when third cornerback Natrell Jamerson went down with a leg injury early in the season. Jamerson is back, adding to the depth in what has been a solid secondary.Wisconsin had four interceptions last week against Illinois .Up front, Olive Sagapolu will miss the Purdue game this weekend because of a right arm injury. At 6-foot-2, 340 pounds, Sagapolu is a space-eating nose tackle who helps slow down the run.The Badgers turned to 6-4, 288-pound Conor Sheehy to play nose. Its a position that he had played before, and while the defense lost size without Sagapolu, it gained more athleticism up front.None of those D-linemen get enough credit. He might have a bad play now and then, but Conor plays steady football, Wilcox said. Conors a guy who will do anything for the team; very, very smart, well prepared and real good technique.Sheehy had figured to play more end this season, though he practiced at both positions. It doesnt matter to me, Sheehy said, Whatever they need me to play.---More AP college football: www.collegefootball.ap.org---Follow Genaro Armas at: https://twitter.com/GArmasAP ' ' '
John McEnroe has challenged Nick Kyrgios to quit professional tennis if his heart isnt in it. Cheap Air Max 97 Uk .Commentating on American television, McEnroe was scathing of Kyrgioss demeanour before the Australian retired from his third-round US Open match against Illya Marchenko with a hip injury.Kyrgios was trailing two sets to one: 4-6 6-4 6-1 - when he called it quits. The 14th seed complained of the injury during his first two matches and said he felt like hed been hit by a bus at one point during Saturdays defeat.McEnroe has been critical and complimentary of Kyrgios in equal measures since the 21-year-olds emergence as one of tenniss hottest prospects.Last year he lashed Kyrgios for his bonehead tactics during a first-round loss to Andy Murray at Flushing Meadows, while he also had cracks at the world No.16 at Wimbledon. But his criticism of Kyrgios on Saturday night could be considered harsh, given the youngsters obvious injury concerns.Nick Kyrgios, you dont want to be a professional tennis player, do something else, McEnroe said. There was no sign of any trouble early as Kyrgios broke Marchenko on the Ukraines first service game.He then held from 15-40 to consolidate for a 3-0 lead, the only break he needed to secure the opening set.At times he toyed with the world No.63, producing a series of nonchalant backhand-down-the-line winners to appear in cruise control.Kyrgios lit up Arthur Ashe Stadium when he ran down a drop shot and conjured an incredible around-the-net-post backhand winner in the fifth game of the third set.Out of nowhere, though, Kyrgios dropped serve at 4-4 after a double-fault and forehand miss to hand Marchenko the chance to put the match back on level terms. He made no mistake as Kyrgioss movement began to diminish. After all but conceding the third set in 34 minutes, two courtside treatments from the trainer didnt help as Kyrgios repeatedly moaned.I cant move. I cant turn, mate. Whats the f***ing point?Marchenko admitted it was not the way he wanted to reach the last 16 of a slam for the first time, five days shy of his 29th birthday.I feel sorry for Nick, he said. But its a dream come true. A win is a win and a win here on Ashe is a very special feeling for me.I cannot explain how happy I am.The Ukraine will play two-time grand slam champion and third seed Stan Wawrinka on Monday for a place in the quarter-finals.The loss was Kyrgioss first in 21 matches against unseeded opponents at grand slam events and will come as a bitter disappointment for the 21-year-old who had high hopes at the Open.Despite the setback, Kyrgios is set to climb to a career-high No.15 in the world after the tournament. Its crazy to think, but were rapidly approaching the halfway point of the fantasy football regular season (many ESPN Fantasy leagues have the playoffs commence in Week 13). Cheap Wholesale Sneakers Free Shipping . I like to think of a fantasy roster as an ever-evolving project -- you dont have to make moves just for the sake of activity, but its always worth taking a look at the available players in your league for some minor tweaks or adjustments. So regardless of whether youre in need of a major infusion of talent or just looking to improve your roster incrementally, below is our Week 7 ESPN Fantasy waiver-wire add list.Note: All players on this list are available in over 50 percent of leagues. Week 7 byes: Dallas, CarolinaNotable injuries to monitor: Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, Washington TE Jordan Reed, Lions RB Theo Riddick, Raiders RB Latavius Murray, Buccaneers RB Doug MartinCameron Meredith, WR, Chicago Bears (32.2 percent). Meredith would be the first player Id pick up this week if I had the top waiver claim, as he has been supremely busy in the two games since Kevin White went down for the Bears; he has 20 catches for 243 yards and a touchdown in those games. Hes seeing a ton of work in the Chicago offense and that doesnt figure to fade anytime soon. Add him in all-sized leagues.James White, RB, New England Patriots (49.3 percent). The top running back add of the week is White, the pass-catching back who found the end zone twice for New England in Week 6. Tom Bradys return has coincided with the Patriots getting the backs heavily involved in the passing game. White can be a midrange RB2 in point per reception scoring. He should be added in all leagues.Jay Ajayi, RB, Miami Dolphins (42.4). Ajayi was on the waiver wire list for Week 6, but his ownership percentage actually dropped (insert confused face emoji here). The Dolphins backfield has been difficult to size up this season, but Ajayi was outstanding on Sunday, rattling off 204 rushing yards on 25 carries and a pair of scores. Head coach Adam Gase recently suggested the running back rotation would be streamlined. Ajayi has earned more work and should be owned in all leagues.Marcus Mariota, QB, Tennessee Titans (41.0 percent). Mariota has been red-hot over the past two weeks, totaling 30 and 27 fantasy points. Thats encouraging, especially when noting that he has had seven runs in each game (for 124 yards total). Mariota is such a unique talent and his upcoming three-game schedule is far from daunting (vs. Indianapolis, vs. Jacksonville, at San Diego). Hes a streamer for Ben Roethlisberger owners.Brian Hoyer, QB, Chicago Bears (20.6 percent). He has thrown for over 300 yards in four straight games and has not thrown an interception this season. While I dont love the short week and having to travel to Green Bay, hes another streaming QB option.Cole Beasley, WR, Dallas Cowboys (44.7 percent). Another weekly staple in this column, Beasley just continues to produce for Dallas. He collected two more touchdowns in Week 6. Yes, the Cowboys go on a bye in Week 7 and yes Dez Bryant is nearing a return, but Beasley has value in a PPR league with his average of 5? catches per game. His role wont evaporate once Dez is back.Hunter Henry, TE, San Diego Charges (49.3 percent). We saw something important from Henry in Week 6: his role with a fully healthy Antonio Gates. And that role was a steady one, as he played more snaps than Gates and found the end zone for the third straight game. As things stand, both players still have value. Henry is a borderline top-12 tight end for me right now and a smart fill-in for those in need of a player at the position.Ty Montgomery, WR, Green Bay Packers (.2 percent). The Packers offense -- both by the eye test and the box score -- is in a funk. The talent is there, but the output is not. All that being said, Montgomery was something of a revelation on Sunday, as he caught 10 passes for 98 yards and added three rushes for six yards. Those catches represent 40 percent of his career total. With injuries in the backfield, the Packers need to get creative to sustain the running game. Montgomery was an outlet in the short-range passing game and should be added as a stash in 12-team or larger PPR leagues.Kenny Britt, WR, Los Angeles Rams (13.1 percent).?Britt has had his fair share of flash moments during his career. Hes a former first-round pick with excellent size and good speed for his position. The Rams offense isnt particularly fantasy-friendly, but the numbers bear out that Britt needs to be on the radar: He has caught 75 percent of his 40 targets and is on pace for over 1,300 receiving yards this season. Hes an add in any size league, but not yet a starter in leagues smaller than 12 teams.Pierre Garcon, WR, Washington (26.0 percent). It remains to be seen whether or not tight end Jordan Reed will miss further time following another concussion, but it appears Garcon is a big part of how Washington will fill the void. He had 11 targets in Week 6 and snatched six catches. Garcons value is in a PPR league. If Reed sits again in Week 7, look for Garcon to stay heavily involved. Hes a PPR add in 14-team or larger leagues.Zach Zenner, RB, Detroit Lions (1.5 percent). Without Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington, the Lions were down to Zenner and Justin Forsett in Week 6. Zenner dominated the running back workload, totaling 58 yards on 14 carries. Until Riddick and/or Washington return, expect Zenner to maintain a workload of double-digit rushes per week. That makes him a usable back in 16-team leagues.Anquan Boldin, WR, Detroit Lions (19.1 percent). Perhaps the bigger takeaway from Detroits win over Los Angeles was that the passing game is going to have carry the offense in many weeks, and thats good news for Boldin. Hes such a steady and reliable pass-catcher who has value in 14- or 16-team PPR leagues (or a smaller PPR league in which you start three receivers). He has 12 or more PPR points in three of six games this season.Robert Woods, WR, Buffalo Bills (22.0 percent). He has been mentioned in this space a bunch and the analysis remains the same: Hes the nominal No. 1 target in a low-volume passing game, but theres value in PPR scoring. Woods has 20 catches over his past four games and double-digit PPR scoring in three of those four. Hes a deeper-league add.Charles Clay, TE, Buffalo Bills (24.6 percent). Theres not a ton of depth at tight end -- again -- this season, but Clay has been another notable part of Buffalos passing attack. He has five catches in four of five games. If you are a Jordan Reed or Dwayne Allen owner looking for a possible Week 7 replacement, Clay is firmly on the radar.Torrey Smith, WR, San Francisco 49ers (42.0 percent). Smith had his best game of 2016 in the re-debut of Colin Kaepernick as the starting quarterback. He caught a 53-yard touchdown pass and had 76 total yards on three catches. Im not overly confident in his outlook, but he has enough skill and speed for me to add in deeper leagues.DeAndre Washington, RB, Oakland Raiders (46.9 percent). If Latavius Murray returns in Week 7, its hard to envision having much confidence starting Washington even in a deep league, but with Murray still banged up, Washington should be added in 14-team or larger leagues. He and Jalen Richard are splitting duties and -- candidly -- have about equivalent value.Jalen Richard, RB, Oakland Raiders (29.6 percent). To that end, Richard is also a name of note for deep leagues. If youre having to deliberate between the two, I give Richard the edge in PPR scoring. The same caveat applies here: If Murray returns, Richard is only a stash player.Terrance Williams, WR, Dallas Cowboys (18.2 percent). Ive got Williams this low on the list because of two factors working against him: Hes on a bye in Week 7, and Dez Bryant could return in Week 8 (that seems increasingly likely). Once he does return, Williams role is likely to diminish in this offense. For now, hes insurance for Dez owners or a deeper league add.Kamar Aiken, WR, Baltimore Ravens (7.3 percent). Well see if Steve Smith misses any more time for the Ravens. If he does, Aiken is a usable flex play in large (14- to 16-team) PPR leagues. Buy Sneakers Wholesale Online . A knee to the thigh might have stung him the most, but his sixth straight double-double made up for the brief burst of pain. Best Sneakers Website Uk . Negating the AFLs most potent forward line wont be light work at the SCG on Saturday night but Sydney hope many hands will make it happen.Team defence has long been in vogue but few sides have predicated the need quite like Adelaide. The Crows star-studded forward line boasts no shortage of threats and looms as one of the most imposing hurdle the Swans must clear if theyre to avoid another straight-sets finals exit.Eddie Betts, Taylor Walker, Josh Jenkins and Tom Lynch are all capable of busting the semi-final open , having each booted 40-plus goals this year.No team this year have bettered Adelaides average of 16.7 goals a game.Their starting six are all genuine forwards and they know each other really well. We expect the guys to get across and help, we try and prevent any one-on-ones. Thats part of the back six mentality then youve got the team mentality of midfielders getting back to fill space and forwards putting pressure on, preventing any quick balls coming in.Its an approach the Swans have nailed for most of the year, conceding an average 9.6 goals to claim the title of the leagues stingiest side.It went awry in week one of the finals, when Greater Western Sydney recorded an upset 36-point win in the most high-stakes derby yet.The frequency, speed and precision at which the ball came into the forward line didnt make life easy for Sydney defenders Heath Grundy, Dane Rampe and Aliir Aliir. Playfair noted they could have done better.WWe hung in there and and fought on but we didnt necessarily go out and get after the game enough, from our back half, Playfair said. Sneakers Clearance Uk.
