Argentina winger Ezequiel Lavezzi and France midfielder Blaise Matuidi scored, with star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic setting up both despite having a poor game by his high standards. Forward Eduardo gave Ajaccio the lead in the sixth minute after being set up by right winger Benjamin Andre, and the Corsican side looked comfortable in the first half, with the lively Johan Cavalli causing problems with his probing runs from midfield. . Bradwell was scheduled to become a free agent Tuesday. Born and raised in Toronto, Bradwell is entering his sixth CFL season, with all six played for his hometown Argonauts. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- When All-American forward AJa Wilson struggled to score and got saddled with fouls early in the third quarter, South Carolinas newest players came to the rescue.Transfer guards Kaela Davis and Allisha Gray combined for 61 points in their debuts and the No. 7 Gamecocks opened their season by defeating seventh-ranked Ohio State 92-80 on Monday.Davis, a two-time All-ACC selection and the conferences leading scorer in 2014-15 for Georgia Tech before transferring and sitting out last season, had 37 points. She scored seven points to help the Gamecocks go from a two-point lead to a 64-56 advantage in the third quarter.Sitting out a year was tough but we were excited to come in and play such a good team as Ohio State she said. To be able to get a win is a great start for us and me.Gray, a transfer from North Carolina, added 24 points for the Gamecocks, who beat the Buckeyes 88-80 at home to open last season. Alaina Coates had 10 points and 13 reboundsThe wait was worth it, Gray said. Its a great feeling to be back.Kelsey Mitchell led Ohio State (1-1) with 27 points despite picking up two fouls in the first quarter. Sierra Calhoun had 18 points and Shayla Cooper 15.Our defense wasnt up to par, Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff said. When you play a great team like South Carolina, if youre not going to defend youre not going to win.The Gamecocks did their damage despite Wilson scoring only five points. She picked up her third foul with 5:10 remaining in the third and the Gamecocks up 52-48, but she remained in the game only to exit 40 seconds later on her fourth foul. Her absence paveed the way for Davis and Gray, who had 22 and 14 points in the second half, respectively. Red Wings Jerseys 2021. .With Wilson getting in foul trouble early that made it difficult to get the ball inside, Gray said. It was one of those games we had to apply ourselves and maybe take certain shots we wouldnt take in other games.NO SOLACEMitchell took no satisfaction in limiting Wilson to 11 points below her season average last season, I dont know how much you can talk about that because they still won and we didnt do good on defense.NOT SO FASTThe tempo was slower than what the teams displayed in their last meeting, in part because 51 fouls (29 to Ohio State) ruined the rhythm. Compared to last years game, that was like watching paint dry, South Carolina coach Dawn Staley said.TIP-INSSouth Carolina: The Gamecocks began their 43rd season and the ninth under Staley. SALT LAKE CITY -- Even with many key players missing large swaths of games because of injuries, the Utah Jazz were able to stay on a winning track. Bobby Layne Jersey . Now that some of those players are starting to get healthy again, the Jazz could take the step forward everyone expected before the season began.Gordon Hayward returned Saturday after a one-game absence and led Utah to a 104-84 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Now the Jazz have more good news: Derrick Favors is expected to be back in the lineup Thursday when Utah plays host to the Oklahoma City Thunder.Favors, who missed the past 13 games because of a bone contusion on his left knee, is expected to play limited minutes against Oklahoma City. He has appeared in 11 games this season, and he is averaging 10.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 block per contest. His return should further strengthen one of the NBAs top defensive teams. Utah (15-10) showed why it earned such a lofty status during the fourth quarter against the Kings. The Jazz held Sacramento to just eight points on 3-of-22 shooting over the final 12 minutes. That effort helped Utah overcome a season-high 22 turnovers that led to 36 points for the Kings. We guarded, said Hayward, who notched his 10th consecutive 20-point game, finishing with 26. They got nothing easy. It seemed like a lot of the shots were contested. Thats just what happened. Then we were able to get the ball up the court and they werent set. We got some good looks. People knocked down timely threes.Finding a way to contain Russell Westbrook will offer one of the toughest defensive challenges Utah has faced this season. Westbrook is playing at a MVP level this season while serving as Oklahoma Citys primary offensive option following Kevin Durants departure over the summer.Through 25 games, Westbrook is averaging 30.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.8 assists. If he can stay on his current pace for an entire season, he would be the first NBA player to average a triple-double since Oscar Robertson did it in the 1961-62 season.Westbrook has 12 triple-doubles so far this season -- including one stretch of seven in a row. He became the first player to notch seven consecutive triple-doubles since Michael Jordan did it in the 1988-89 season. For Westbrook, his sole goal is all about doing whatever is necessary to help his team get better and reach a championship level.I think thats what made those players so great -- Magic, MJ, Oscar, Westbrook told USA Today. They did it by winning some championships (and) by also helping the guys around them. Thats what I want to do.Oklahoma City (15-10) lost two of its past three after reeling off six straight wins. The Thunder fell 114-95 at Portland on Tuesday night in the first leg of a back-to-back road trip. Oklahoma City shot only 38 percent from the field and committed 20 turnovers. The Thunders second-leading scorer, Victor Oladipo, did not play Tuesday after spraining his wrist against the Boston Celtics two nights earlier. Oladipo is averaging 16.1 points through 24 games.Oklahoma City swept the season series with Utah a year ago, winning all four games. Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey . DAmigo scored twice in regulation and added the shootout winner as the Toronto Marlies edged the San Antonio Rampage 5-4 in American Hockey League action. Eddie Goldman Jersey . But Bourque, who has missed three games with a lower-body injury, wont be in the lineup when the Habs travel to Buffalo to take on the Sabres on Wednesday. . MLS Commissioner Don Garber and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez also will attend the session, which was announced Monday. The league has discussed placing its next two expansion teams in Miami and Atlanta. Looking at the Super Rugby finals this weekend, I believe the best four teams have come through and with the Hurricanes potentially having lost Dane Coles we may be set for a Highlanders-Chiefs final. If there is one team that I think can handle the travel factor it is the Highlanders; theyre well-positioned to deal with the travel in getting to Ellis Park. Theyre a balanced team and showed that last year when going to Sydney to beat the Waratahs in the semifinal and then going to Wellington to beat the Hurricanes in the final. There are some fascinating games ahead at the weekend. If you dissect all four teams you can actually identify the culture they have developed. While it is not something that is immediately visible, you can see they are enjoying themselves and the way they are all playing demonstrates that. The Lions look as if they are really excited. They are an excitable young bunch, especially with half-back Faf du Klerk leading the way. He is a livewire and they are full of energy. But that is the case right across the board among the four semifinalists. The Highlanders have had that since last season and it just seems to be growing more and more so at the moment. And the Hurricanes, the way they entered the season with the number of players they lost especially in midfield, have done remarkably well.I look at coach Chris Boyd, and I have always respected him as a coach and as a person. Hes a very straight up guy and a straight shooter. He dropped a number of senior players ahead of their round-robin game against the Sharks in South Africa. Basically he said, thats the self-imposed rules you guys put on there so lets stick to them. The discipline was there and the expectation on every player in that group on each other is testament to where they are now - playing an exciting brand of rugby in the semifinals. To go through what theyve been through, and dont forget that horrific first round loss to the Brumbies, losing key players and continuing to improve throughout the season is, firstly, a sign that their senior players inside that group have stepped up, secondly, the management team have got the mix and the foundations right. In attempting to replace Maa Nonu and Conrad Smith, they have found four players who have stepped up in Willis Halaholo, Vince Aso, Ngani Laumape and Matt Proctor - they can all create things, too. Its amazing when you turn a stone over or an older player moves on, just whats underneath and the talent that has been held back by roadblocks of players who own that position. It is evident when players get exposure how they are capable of rising to the challenge. Halaholo and lock Michael Fatialofa are two examples of guys who left Auckland, went to Southland where they did well, but then who have blossomed in the Hurricanes environment. When the demand is placed on you to improve and play to a higher standard a lot of players tend to thrive. It is an interesting facet of rugby when you consider whether every player has a natural plateau. Players have innate skill levels, their strength and their speed and their general awareness are all there, but a plateau is something that is self-imposed.The difference between the good players and the great players is that the top level players, the stars, push themselves past those self-imposed restrictions. They actually reach a whole new level. And unless they are in an environment that helps that happen, many players are never going to find a maximum level. George Blanda Jersey. .When you dont have the constant, competitive nature around you at whatever level; Super Rugby; Mitre 10 Cup or even club play, and feed off the situation where everyone is wanting to get better, you can find yourself on a plateau that you never advance beyond. But in a Super Rugby environment in New Zealand, everyone is pushing for All Blacks selection. If youre in a starting position in Super Rugby in New Zealand you are in the top five in the country in your position and youre on show. So why shouldnt you be pushing for it?Against the Brumbies the Highlanders got themselves caught in the arm wrestle and it is finals rugby where, at the end of 80 minutes, if you havent got the points on the board youre gone. I think the Brumbies game will have been a kick up the backside for them and theyll know theyve dodged a bullet and the way things panned out, theyre a better side.We know from their efforts last year that they can play to a much higher standard than that and quite often when you get a second chance youre not going to go and make the same mistake. And the Lions this weekend will not play that style of rugby. It will be more around the style the Highlanders want to play; so it is two very exciting teams with two very exciting half-backs that will keep the tempo of that game flowing. The coaches will have had a look at what the Brumbies did, but the realisation is the Lions have reached the semifinals for a reason and they wont want to change anything. They will just want to do what they have been doing all season, only better. Theyll take a lot from beating the Crusaders by the scoreline they did -- that was no mean feat. But at the same time what I did see in the quarterfinals was a lot of white flags go up. You get to that stage in finals rugby when the scoreline just gets blown out as happened to the Sharks, Crusaders and Stormers. Theres not much more you can do sometimes and everything you try to do goes wrong and mistakes come when you are trying to play catch-up rugby. The Chiefs will have taken some confidence from their win, and I think the biggest loss from the weekend is Dane Coles injury for the Hurricanes. In spite of what John Plumtree has said, Coles is more than just one player in the team. He has been a stand out player and captain. Hes a big loss. Hes immense for the Hurricanes and every time he plays he does three, four, five things that are special in a game that you remember. You can build a team around some really key players, much as the Highlanders have done with Ben and Aaron Smith and Malakai Fekitoa, and I believe Dane Coles is one of those types of players for the Hurricanes. He is the player the Hurricanes would least want to lose.TJ Perenara is probably another one for them. He really put his hand up at the weekend on the back of some good form through the latter stages of the competition. And against that you have Brad Weber pushing it for the Chiefs as he had a great season as well.As we have said many times, the teams with the best No.10s dictate where you end up at the end of the season. We have the best first fives in the four teams left in Beauden Barrett, Aaron Cruden, Lima Sopoaga and Elton Jantjies, who looked outstanding in leading the Lions around the paddock against the Crusaders. Blake Austin insists he has buried all links to hometown club Penrith but one gripe remains - that Panthers star Matt Moylan should have way more than 70 games to his credit. Replica Nike Air Max 1 .The duo played almost all of their junior football together at the mountains, however it took Moylan nearly two years to join Austin in the NRL ranks when he finally debuted in 2013.By then a lack of game time forced Austin to look elsewhere for an opportunity, heading to the Wests Tigers before eventually finding a home in the nations capital last season.Ahead of Saturdays NRL semi-final between the two clubs, Austin revealed how he thought Moylan would be dominating teams a lot earlier than he is.I always thought he toiled away in (reserve grade) longer than he should have, Austin said.In the end its a formula thats worked well for him. He sat back and watched a lot of his mates debut a lot earlier than he did. But he got the last laugh. Hes playing really good footy. We played a lot of junior footy together, and -20s, and spent a lot of time at Windsor together too. To see him playing the way he is, its no surprise to me. Im really happy for him.The pair now hold the key to their respective outfits when they face off at GIO Stadium on Saturday, with the winner to take on Melbourne for the right to a spot in the grand final.Moylan is arguably the most in-form player remaining in title contention, while Austins return from a hand injury alleviates the probable loss of Josh Hodgson.Austin, 25, said stopping Penriths forwards is crucial to preventing Moylan taking over games in the same way he did in the second half of their elimination final win over Canterbury, when involved in four of his teams five tries.Moylans involvements, you can limit them by what you do in the middle of the field and the way you handle their forwards, he said. You know Moylan plays a bit of a halves style in their team. The opportunities will be limited if your forwards are struggling. Thatll be the key.Austins history with the Panthers dates back to his time with junior club Doonside, but was frustrated by the scarce opportunities presented to him by then-coach Ivan Cleary. He played just 16 games for the club before opting to severe ties, however he denied a win over the Panthers in what is his first career finals game would be sweet revenge.Theyre a long time ago, the Panthers. Even the Tigers now, theyre just another team, he said. Nike Air Max 1 . This season, baseball historian Bill Savage has been contributing a Chicago Cubs fans perspective from his seats at Wrigley Field in a column called The View From Section 416. Nike Air Force 1 07 Femme Pas Cher . For the World Series, Cleveland Indians fan and baseball writer Susan Petrone has joined the party and will write The View From The 216 -- aka Clevelands area code. What do you do when you have two tickets to Game 1 of the World Series and three people in your immediate family? This is not a simple math problem. This is the Cleveland Indians in the World Series. Like true love, this doesnt happen every day.Our family consists of me, my husband and our 10-year-old daughter. The night I met my husband, he said two things that won me over. The first was: You interest me, which was a whole lot more intriguing than the standard, Youre so pretty. The second was: Do you like baseball? I have season tickets. Bring on Cupids arrows, baby, because yes, I do like baseball.I was around 9 or 10 when I fell in love with baseball. Most of my childhood summer memories revolve around playing Wiffle ball all day with my brother and some of the neighbors and watching the Indians on the local UHF channel every night. In most families, baseball love and lore is passed down from father to son. For me, it was brother to sister. My father was a music teacher and my mother a writer. We saw lots of live music and theater but not much in-person baseball. My father took us to one game when I was a kid. One. It was the first time I got to see my hero, Andre Thornton, in person. The old Cleveland Municipal Stadium was of Colosseum-like proportions. We were too far away for me to make out Thorntons face, but I recognized his sizable presence at first base and his swing at the plate. One baseball game was enough to know that I wanted more. At age 19, I spent a summer hawking beer and hot dogs at the stadium so I could see the games for free. When the Indians finally made it to the World Series in 1995, I was in graduate school and couldnt afford tickets. After an evening class, a classmate and I double-parked outside Jacobs Field and took turns waiting by the car while the other one peered through the gates of the ballpark to catch a glimpse of a World Series game in person. When Cleveland returned to the Series in 1997, I was getting a divorce. No tickets, just me home alone with my two dogs, crying after a blown Game 7.Now Im a grown-up, with a keeper-of-a-husband and child and a love for the game that hasnt quit. My daughter has always known that Mom loves baseball. When I worked for the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), she spent the odd day off from school at my office. She knows I blog about the Indians at Shes watched me play ball in a wood bat pickup league the past several summers and at Progressive Field during a one-day fantasy camp. She knows my first novel was about baseball. Id taken her to a handful of games over the years, but she was little. The ballpark was more about eating Dippin Dots and watching the Hot Dog Derby than the actual game. Watching at home meant shed ask to change the channel or wander off after half an inning. That changed this summer.Maybe its her age -- 10 is a great time to fall in love with baseball. We went to a half-dozen games together this season, and I had the privilege of watching her fall in love. Her understanding of the game has grown. She still asks for Dippin Dots, but will also ask, Why did they move over when [Carlos] Santana is batting? Shes learning the game. As the Indians season progressed, she grew more and more excited -- along with the rest of the city. In June, when the Cavs gave Cleveland its first major sports championship in 52 years, the city went berserk. The anticipation around the Indians is little more hushed, a bit more steeped in baseball superstition: Dont say anything that could jinx the outcome. At the same time, theres a certain level of confidence. You can say, Sure, Cleveland can win the World Series, and no one thinks youre being ironic. This is Believeland, and we have good reason to believe.Which brings us back to those World Series tickets. We managed to get two for Game 1. There are three of us. An hour after I bought them, my husband emailed: You know, those are already going for $1,000 apiece online.Im not selling them, I replied.Game 1 is on a school night. It will be a late-night madhouse of people and media and craziness around the ballpark. Would it make sense for the two adults in the family to go (assuming we could find a baby sitter on a Tuesday night)? My husband is older than I am --- hes been waiting longer for a Cleveland World Series title. I suggested he and his best friend go. I even considered selling them after all (it would pay off the season ticket deposit for next year). What would be fair?Early in the morning, the day after I bought the tickets, my husband said, E. [our daughter] wants to go.I know. She told me, too.I would have loved to have seen a World Series game when I was 10. Why not let her go? You take her. What about you?I went in 1997. Ive been to a World Series game. You havent. And thus a decision was made. Im taking my daughter to the World Series. This is true love. This is the World Series. None of this happens every day. CHICAGO -- When Dwyane Wade was a free agent in 2010, he got a Chicago Bulls jersey when he met with his hometown team. Brandon Williams Jersey . He took it home, put it on and took a picture. Then he deleted it.He got another Bulls jersey Friday, and there were more pictures. Lots of pictures, and there was no need to erase anything this time around. The long dance between Wade and the Bulls took the next step when he was officially introduced as a member of his favorite team growing up in the Windy City. The 12-time All-Star had two workouts with the Bulls before he was drafted by Miami in 2003, and then had two more meetings with the team before deciding to stay with the Heat six years ago.My dream of becoming an NBA player started here, started here in my hometown, Wade said. I know it took a long time to get here, but I am here and Im excited to be here.Wade announced he was leaving Miami for Chicago on July 6, and the Bulls confirmed the deal two weeks ago. But his introductory press conference was delayed by a trip to China for Wade and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union.Judging by the smile on the face of general manager Gar Forman, it was worth the wait for the Bulls.Knowing him and studying him over the years, his makeup and character, his work ethic and his commitment to winning is something that I think is really going to serve our team well, Forman said. You look at our team and we basically got a young team. Weve got 10 players now with three years or less experience, and to have Dwyane come in and kind of show these guys the way, I dont think you can put a value on something like that.Wades two-year contract worth about $47 million is part of a delicate balancing act for Forman and the Bulls, trying to get younger and more athletic while staying in contention. After finishing 42-40 and missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008, Derrick Rose, another local product, was traded to the New York Knicks, and All-Star center Pau Gasol left for a free-agent deal with San Antonio. But the Bulls convinced Rajon Rondo and Wade to come to Chicago, adding two more dynamic guards to play with Jimmy Butler. While Rondo and Wade are on the wrong side of 30 and have never been strong 3-point shooters in a league with increasing emphasis on the outside shot, everyone with the Bulls think they will be able to work it out.We have our own strengths, and with those strengths is what were going to bring to this game, Wade said. Were not going to come out there and try to be Stephen Curry. Thats not our game.Butler watched from the back as Wade held his press conference, and Wade playfully ribbed him about his shirt exposing his muscular arms. While Butlers reputation took a hit following Chicagos poor finish last season, Wade said Butler called him during free agency and the deal would not have happened without his recruitment. Were not going to go through this all year. Its Jimmy Butlers team, Wade said. Myself and Rondo are here to bring what we bring as athletes to this team and to this city.Scoring has never been a problem for the 34-year-old Wade, who leaves Miami as the franchises career leader with 20,221 points. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 19 points and 4.6 assists in 74 games last season, his highest total since he appeared in 76 games in the 2010-11 campaign. After the Bulls missed out on him in the draft, Wade turned into a beloved figure in South Florida, helping the Heat win NBA titles in 2006, 2012 and 2013. He had repeatedly returned to the only NBA franchise he had ever known, but he said the direction and focus for each side was a little different this year than in the past.I had a contract offer in Miami that I could have took. I decided not to take it, Wade said. It was my decision to be selfish and to live out a dream of mine. I brought a lot of excitement to Miami and its a home to me. It will always be. CLEVELAND -- Tom Brady, looking razor-sharp at times and relatively rust-free after serving his four-game Deflategate suspension, passed for 406 yards and three touchdowns to Martellus Bennett in his hyped return and the New England Patriots thumped the Cleveland Browns 33-13 on Sunday.Brady was back -- much to the relief of teammates and New England fans everywhere -- following a ban for his role in the scandal in which an NFL investigation found the Patriots under-inflated footballs in the 2015 AFC championship game.Brady fought Commissioner Roger Goodells ruling for more than a year before he begrudgingly accepted his punishment. He took out some of that built-up frustration on the Browns (0-5), throwing for 271 yards in the first half, as the Patriots (4-1) rebounded after being shut out last week at home by Buffalo.Brady threw two short TD passes in the first half to Bennett before hooking up with his new teammate again on a 37-yarder to give the Patriots a 30-7 lead in the third quarter.LIONS 24, EAGLES 23DETROIT -- Matt Prater kicked a 29-yard field goal with 1:28 left and Darius Slay made an over-the-shoulder interception on the next snap, helping the Lions hand Carson Wentz his first loss with a victory over the Eagles. The Lions (2-3) had lost three straight. The Eagles (3-1) turned the ball over for the first time this season with 2:34 remaining when Ryan Mathews fumbled on a hit by Slay. The loose football was recovered by Tyrunn Walker at the Philadelphia 45.Matthew Stafford set up the game-winning kick by converting a third-and-4 from the Eagles 39 with a perfectly placed pass on a crossing route to Golden Tate, who drew an unnecessary roughness penalty on Malcolm Jenkins.REDSKINS 16, RAVENS 10BALTIMORE -- The Redskins used an 85-yard punt return by Jamison Crowder and an uncharacteristically strong performance by their defense to beat the Ravens. It was the third straight win for the Redskins (3-2), who came in with the leagues 29th-ranked defense. Washington allowed a touchdown on the games opening drive and smothered the Ravens (3-2) the rest of the way.The game wasnt decided until the final minute, when an apparent 23-yard touchdown catch by Baltimores Breshad Perriman was overturned by replay. Perriman got his right foot down in the end zone, but his left foot was out of bounds.Crowder scored Washingtons first TD with a sensational run through the middle of the Baltimore punt return team in the second quarter.COWBOYS 28, BENGALS 14ARLINGTON, Texas -- Ezekiel Elliott ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns, fellow rookie Dak Prescott threw for a score and ran for another TD, and the Cowboys beat the Bengals.Prescott had his first turnover in five games starting in place of injured Tony Romo, a fumble when being sacked late in the third quarter. But Prescott extended his NFL rookie record to 155 passes without an interception to start his career. He completed 18 of 24 passes for 227 yards.Elliott, on only 15 carries, became the first Cowboys rookie with three consecutive 100-yard rushing games.Dallas (4-1) has won four in a row. The Bengals (2-3) already have a losing record a year after being 8-0 midway through the season.FALCONS 23, BRONCOS 16DENVER -- Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons didnt need another 300-yard performance from Julio Jones to decipher Denvers dazzling defense and wreck Paxton Lynchs first NFL start.Using a steady dose of I-formation runs and short passes that put Denvers linebackers in coverage, the Falcons (4-1) handed the Super Bowl champs their first loss since Dec. 20 at Pittsburgh and left the Minnesota Vikings (5-0) as the NFLs last unbeaten team. The Broncos (4-1) were on their heels having to respect the play-action because Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman were so effective running the ball, combining for 119 yards and a 4.4-yard average.STEELERS 31, JETS 13PITTSBURGH -- Ben Roethlisberger passed for 380 yards and four touchdowns and the surging Steelers pulled away in the second half for a win over the Jets.Sammie Coates caught six passes for a career-high 139 yards and two scores, including a 72-yard catch-and-run for a score on Pittsburghs opening drive as the Steelers moved the ball at will against a secondary missing injured star Darrelle Revis.Steelers running back LeVeon Bell racked up 154 yards of total offense, including a career-high nine receptions, while Antonio Brown caught nine passes for 78 yards and a touchdown. The All-Pro receiver, who has been fined on multiple occasions this season for crossiing the line during his celebratory dances, simply handed the ball to a fan in the stands. Earl Thomas III Jersey. Pittsburgh (4-1) played without starting right tackle Marcus Gilbert, but had little trouble protecting Roethlisberger from one of the NFLs top defensive lines. The Jets fell to 1-4.BILLS 30, RAMS 19LOS ANGELES -- Nickell Robey-Coleman returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown, LeSean McCoy rushed for 150 yards, and the Bills won their third consecutive game by defeating the Rams.Robey-Coleman stepped in front of rookie receiver Pharoh Cooper and strolled down the sideline to put the Bills (3-2) ahead 23-16 with 3:54 left in the third quarter. The big play allowed the Bills to finish off the Rams (3-2) and end their three-game winning streak. Robey-Coleman added another interception in the final minutes. The Bills stopped Bradley Marquez on a fake punt at the Rams 25 with 3:41 remaining.Tyrod Taylor then threw a 6-yard touchdown to Marquise Goodwin to put the game out of reach.RAIDERS 34, CHARGERS 31OAKLAND, Calif. -- Derek Carr threw a go-ahead 21-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree on a fourth-and-2 gamble and added another TD pass to Amari Cooper to lead the Raiders to a victory over the mistake-prone Chargers.San Diego (1-4) committed four turnovers and then botched the hold on a potential tying field goal. Rookie Drew Kaser couldnt hold the snap on what would have been a 36-yard field goal attempt. The Raiders (4-1) took over with 2 minutes left and ran out most of the clock to get a third straight win for the first time in five years and hand San Diego its 10th straight division loss.Oakland took the lead on a bold call late in the third quarter. Facing a fourth-and-2 at the 21 late in the third quarter trailing by five, coach Jack Del Rio once again trusted his offense to make a big play and it paid off.Carr found Crabtree deep down the left side for the touchdown that put the Raiders up 25-24. A 2-point conversion pass to Cooper gave Oakland a three-point lead and Jamize Olawale added a 1-yard run that made it 34-24 on a drive set up by Kasers 16-yard punt.TITANS 30, DOLPHINS 17MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Marcus Mariota threw for three touchdowns and ran for another score, helping the Titans overcome a handful of big plays by the Dolphins.Mariota bounced back with a strong game after totaling three interceptions and no TD passes in losses the past two weeks. He went 20 for 29 for 163 yards with no interceptions, and ran seven times for 60 yards.DeMarco Murray added 121 yards rushing for the Titans, who totaled 235 on the ground. They improved to 2-3, and Miami fell to 1-4.Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins offense turned in another woeful performance aside from the occasional long gain. Rookie Jakeem Grant scored on a 74-yard punt return , Damien Williams had a 55-yard, catch-and-run to set up a touchdown, and DeVante Parker made a 50-yard reception that led to a field goal.VIKINGS 31, TEXANS 13MINNEAPOLIS -- Adam Thielen caught a touchdown pass to cap Minnesotas opening drive and finished with a career-high 127 yards, and the Vikings defense flustered Brock Osweiler and the Texans.Marcus Sherels returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown and Cordarelle Patterson scored on another sharp throw by Sam Bradford, who produced another turnover-free game and deftly guided the Vikings (5-0) into their bye week.Brock Osweiler was overmatched by Minnesotas relentless rush and coverage, finishing 19 for 42 for 184 yards, one interception and a late touchdown pass while taking four sacks. The Texans (3-2) were denied on 12 of 13 third downs, unable or unwilling to do much other than dump off short passes. Lamar Miller only had eight carries for 20 yards during a dud of a performance by the Texans that felt a lot like the 27-0 loss at New England two weeks ago.COLTS 29, BEARS 23INDIANAPOLIS -- Andrew Luck threw a 35-yard TD pass to T.Y. Hilton with 3:43 left to lead the Colts past the Bears. Its the first time the Colts (2-3) defeated the Bears in Indianapolis. After hearing a clamoring for changes all week, Indy went to the hurry-up offense and Luck made the alterations look good early and late. When the Colts opened up the passing game and took shots down the field, they were efficient. When they didnt, they bogged down.Brian Hoyer was solid in his third straight start throwing for 397 yards and two touchdowns for Chicago (1-4). ' ' '
LOUISVILLE, Ky. Air Force 1 Clearance Sale . -- Louisville coach Rick Pitinos concerns about the early season schedule causing his 12th-ranked Cardinals problems might be merited at some point.Right now, the Cardinals are handling non-conference opponents with surprising ease.Jaylen Johnson had 14 points and 11 rebounds, Deng Adel added 11 points and Louisville jumped on Long Beach State quickly for an 88-56 blowout Thursday. The Cardinals (3-0) outscored the 49ers 23-2 over a 5:28 span in the first half for a 30-8 lead en route to their third straight 30-point win to open the season. Louisvilles height advantage made the difference on both ends as it controlled scoring in the paint 42-20 and rebounding 51-37.Louisvilles fast, effective start toward that end impressed Pitino enough to compare his teams effort to the 2013 NCAA championship squad, which is saying something this early in the season. That was really, really special to see, said Pitino, whose team made 11 of their first 14 shots before finishing at 45 percent (34 of 76) from the field. That was a clinic at the offensive end and a clinic at the defensive end.Johnson helped get the Cardinals going with 10 points and seven rebounds in the first half en route to his second double-double in three games.I just make sure Im more efficient, said Johnson, who made 7 of 11 from the field in 18 minutes. The 49ers (1-3) made just 18 of 61 from the field (30 percent) and couldnt slow the Cardinals in any phase while losing to their second ranked Atlantic Coast Conference foe in three days. Fifth-ranked North Carolina used a quick start to beat Long Beach State 93-67 on Tuesday night. It was similar because we just werent able to withstand that first blow to stay in the game, 49ers coach Dan Monson said. Once we got comfortable, its too late. Games over. You come on these road trips to try to put your kids in adversity to get them better and I dont feel like we handled it any better than we did Tuesday.Mangok Mathiang added 11 points and Ray Spalding had 10 for Louisville. The Cardinals blocked nine shots in winning the first of four games in the Battle 4 Atlantis that continues next week in the Bahamas.Evan Payne had 15 points and Gabe Levin added 12 for Long Beach State, which fell to 0-3 against the Cardinals.THE BIG PICTURELong Beach State: Just when the 49ers seemed capable of playing Louisville close at 7-6, they missed their next 10 shots and 14 of 16 overall in a drought that dug an insurmountable hole. That comes two nights after they trailed North Carolina 14-0. ... Long Beach State committed 19 turnovers leading to 25 Louisville points.Louisville: Good thing the Cardinals dominated the paint, because their perimeter shooting is still a work in progress. Adel and Donovan Mitchell (eight points) combined to make their first three attempts from behind the arc, but the team didnt make another until David Levitch and Ryan McMahon made both their attempts in the second half. Louisville still finished 7 of 20 from long range after entering the game 13 of 43 through two games. ... McMahon and Quentin Snider each had five assists for the Cardinals, who finished with at least 20 in consecutive games for the first time since 2010-11.POLL IMPLICATIONSBarring any movement by teams ahead of Louisville before Monday, next weeks Battle 4 Atlantis matchups could determine the Cardinals ranking for the following week.TIME MANAGEMENTTipoff was 4 p.m. to allow Louisville fans time to watch this game and the third-ranked football teams nationally televised contest at Houston with an 8 p.m. kickoff. NEW YORK -- One year later, the New York Mets finally landed All-Star outfielder Jay Bruce to boost a struggling lineup. Kyler Fackrell Jersey . And now, hell provide protection for Yoenis Cespedes rather than an alternative to him.Minutes before Mondays trade deadline, the third-place Mets obtained Bruce from the Cincinnati Reds for young infielder Dilson Herrera and minor league left-hander Max Wotell. The 29-year-old Bruce was hitting .265 with 25 homers and a National League-leading 80 RBI. He made the NL All-Star team for the third time. This was an opportunity to deal from a position of relative strength in the system to acquire some offense that we felt we needed, general manager Sandy Alderson said.Bruce is expected to arrive Tuesday, manager Terry Collins said.New York also re-acquired lefty Jon Niese from Pittsburgh for reliever Antonio Bastardo. Niese will work out of the bullpen at first but also gives the Mets an experienced starter who could fill in for a rotation missing injured Matt Harvey and rehabbing Zack Wheeler. The moves follow last years trade-deadline acquisition of Cespedes, whose offensive spark helped the Mets reach the World Series for the first time since 2000.Before getting Cespedes from Detroit for pitcher Michael Fulmer, the Mets nearly completed a deal with Cincinnati for Bruce. When talks fell through, New York soon turned its attention to Cespedes.Look, it was an extraordinary turnaround last year. All we can do is try to acquire as many good players as we can to put ourselves in a position to maybe have that magic again, Alderson said. I do think, given our situation right now and the quality of players we have right now otherwise in the clubhouse, somebody like Jay Bruce can be a catalyst for more productive performance out of the other players that we have, especially sitting in the middle of our order. The banged-up Mets began Monday with a 54-50 record, 6 1/2 games behind NL East-leading Washington and 2 1/2 games back for the NLs second wild card. Their .237 batting average was the lowest in the major leagues.Bruce has been a clutch hitter this season, and New York is in dire need of one. Dreadful with runners in scoring position, the Mets ranked 13th out of 15 NL teams in runs.I think hell make a big impact, Collins said.Bruces dangerous left-handed bat should slot in nicely behind Cespedes -- if and when the right-handed slugger is healthy enough to play.Hampered by a strained right quadriceps thats been nagging him for weeks, Cespedes was out of the starting lineup Monday night against the New York Yankees for the second consecutive game.Bruce joins a crowded outfield that includes two other left-handed hitters in Curtis Granderson and Michael Conforto. Alderson acknowledged that Bruce is not an absolute perfect fit for us.We start with the need for offense and work from there, the GM said.Bruce, however, is under team control next season and does provide another type of protection for Cespedes, because the Cuban star can opt out of his contract and become a free agent again after this years World Series. We would not have done the deal without the extra year of control, Alderson said. We were not looking for a rental player, certainly not looking to give up the kind of talent we did for the next two months.Bruce homered in five straight games in late July, a career best. A downside has been his career-long penchant for following a torrid streak with an incredibly cold one.Bruce has a .249 career average with 233 homers in nine major league seasons. He is earning $12.5 million this year, and his contract includes a $13 million team option for 2017 with a $1 million buyout.New York clinched the NL East title in Cincinnati last September and return for a three-game series from Sept. 5-7.Cincinnati is into its second year of rebuilding, trading any high-priced veteran it can. The Reds dealt starters Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake, All-Star Home Run Derby winner Todd Frazier and closer Aroldis Chapman in the past year. They tried to trade second baseman Brandon Phillips to the Nationals, but blocked the deal. They also had the framework of a three-team deal in place that wouldve sent Bruce to Toronto in the offseason, but that fell through.Herrera, 22, was once regarded as the Mets future second baseman. He made his major league debut in 2014 and hit .215 over 49 big league games in the `14 and `15 seasons. He was batting .276 with 13 homers and 55 RBI this year at Triple-A Las Vegas. We liked Dilson very much, no question about that, Alderson said. Its not that our estimation of Dilson has gone down, we realize we have some other options and seem to be well-covered there.Traded from the Mets to Pittsburgh last December for second baseman Neil Walker, Niese struggled during his time with the Pirates. He went 8-6 with a 4.91 ERA and was moved to the bullpen earlier this month. The 29-year-old Niese is making $9 million in the final season of a deal he signed with the Mets in March 2012, a contract that includes a $10 million team option for 2017 with a $500,000 buyout.Bastardo, who went 4-1 with a 2.98 ERA in 2015 with Pittsburgh, posted a 4.74 ERA in 41 appearances for the Mets. Bastardo agreed to a $12 million, two-year deal with New York in January and is owed $6.5 million in 2017. Mecole Hardman Jersey . Ancelotti says Ronaldo has recovered from a hamstring injury but "but he doesnt feel comfortable yet so we wont risk him." Madrid is third in the Spanish league, six points behind leader Barcelona, going into Saturdays game against Valladolid. Harrison Butker Jersey . -- The St. Johns IceCaps weathered a wild first period with the help of goaltender Jussi Olkinuora, before finding offensive inroads in the second. . Collaros, 25, was solid last season, posting a 5-2 record as the starter while incumbent Ricky Ray was injured. Collaros also started Torontos 23-20 regular-season finale loss to Montreal — Ray didnt dress because the Argos had already clinched first in the East Division — but was one of three quarterbacks to play that day.Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at! Mr. Fraser, I read somewhere that NHL referees have their own Playoffs, in which the best from first round are selected to work on second round and so on. How the NHL chooses who will get playoff time? Thanks for your answer,Patrick Arseneau, Sherbrooke Patrick, The NHL officiating department, under the direction of former referee and colleague Terry Gregson, conducts an internal evaluation and rating system throughout the regular season and Stanley Cup playoffs. Terrys supervisory staff attend games during the season and provide computer-generated reports on each officials performance. His staff includes former NHL officials such as Bill McCreary, Don Koharski, Mick McGeough, Rob Shick and Kevin Collins, who supervise NHL games. Areas of skating, positioning, penalty selection, communication and comportment, game control, team work and face-offs (linesmen) are graded. General comments would be included on the bottom of the form as to how the official performed throughout the game and if anything of consequence was observed, positive and/or negative. The hockey operations department (situation room staff in Toronto) under the direction of Colin Campbell and Mike Murphy, records calls or non-calls that also flag an officials performance. Footage of documented plays is assembled for Gregson to review the following day. Prior to the end of the regular season, a numerical ranking from top to bottom is assigned to each referee and linesman to determine playoff selection. An officiating manager/supervisor is assigned to each playoff series from either the officiating department or hockey operations (Kris King, Kay Whitmore) while Gregson floats from series to series. The series supervisor conducts game-day meetings with the officiating crew and acts as a liaison for team management and any concerns they might feel they need to express. The game-day meeting should not only provide the officials with an update on the previous games but to maintain a level of consistency in the way the games are called throughout the series, right through and including Game 7, if necessary. Part of the supervisors duties include evaluating the performance of each official that works in his series. At the conclusion of each round, the deck is shuffled once again and the higher-rated officials move on. The officials are advised in a group e-mail as to whether they made the cut. If the referee or linesmanns name appears in the e-mail list, then he knows he made the next round and assignments will be forthcoming. Juan Thornhill Jersey. No name on the list means you can begin planning your vacation immediately. Once an officials season is over, he is given the opportunity for an exit meeting or year-end review. In some cases, a face-to-face meeting isnt optional. Referees and linesmen are paired at the beginning of each playoff round. The first five games are assigned in each series utilizing this pairing system. If a sixth or seventh game is required, the pairings might be split up to utilize the higher ranked officials, depending upon how many series go the distance and how individual officials performed throughout the round. In deciding games (and particularly Game 7s), I often found that players recognized the importance for them to remain disciplined and not take a bad penalty. That only worked if they knew, or at least thought, that the referee didnt leave his whistle in the dressing room and would call infractions that were committed! I couldnt buy into the statement, "Let em play" because what it really means is "Let em cheat!" If, and when, players take liberties and violate the rules they must be penalized for their actions, whether it is in Game 1 or Game 7 of a series. An official can get on a good playoff run similar to a team that advances with a combination of good work and some luck. It is very unlikely, however that an official would jump two categories from their final regular season ranking in the playoffs. There is much at stake aside from the pride of being selected to continue to work in the playoffs. Officials are paid a bonus for every round of the playoffs they are selected to work. Referees make $18,000 per round while linesmen receive $12,000. Any rating system can be subjective in nature and to say politics dont play a part would be misstating the facts. Players, coaches, general managers and fans certainly get upset with the officials for what they deem to be poor performance levels. Certainly there is always room for improvement. To put things in perspective, I had the good fortune to work the first round from the TSN studio with Paul Maurice, who coached in the KHL last season and GM Craig Button, who is no stranger to international competition and scouting. Both of them echoed my belief that the NHL officials are the best in the world at what they do! These two gentlemen have a much broader sense of appreciation for the officials, having seen and been subjected to the alternatives. ' ' '

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Mark Cavendish has triumphed in 30 stages of the Tour de France, won road racings world title and captured dozens of other important races to become one of Britains most successful cyclists. Calgary Flames Shirts .The one thing missing was an Olympic medal. The sprinter from the Isle of Man finally accomplished that feat Monday night, taking silver in the mens omnium behind Italian rider Elia Viviani at the Rio de Janeiro Games.Im happy with it. I couldnt have done more, Cavendish said. I made every day count. On another day I might be closer to gold, but I have to be happy.Especially the way things have gone in previous trips to the Olympics.Cavendish and teammate Bradley Wiggins were the reigning Madison world champions when they headed to the Beijing Games in 2008. But in the event, no longer part of the Olympic program, the duo could do no better than ninth, leaving Cavendish the only British track cyclist without a medal.Four years ago, he headed to the London Games backed by a powerhouse road team to tackle a course that suited him perfectly -- he even won a test event on it. But on race day, the British squad missed the key breakaway and Cavendish wound up 29th, reduced to being a footnote in the race report. So in that context, silver isnt such a bad result. Its always disappointing not to win, Cavendish said, but I did all I could. And the guys behind me did all they could. So yeah, Im happy. His performance was impressive by any measure: Not only did Cavendish nearly overcome Viviani in the last event of the six-event omnium, he also held off reigning Olympic champion Lasse Norman Hansen of Denmark, who had to settle for the bronze medal. But perhaps making it more impressive was the fact that Cavendish squeezed in training for the omnium while continuing his successful road career. When other riders would take a break from the grind of professional cycling, he would hop on a jet to compete in a track cycling World Cup event, then hop right back on a plane to rejoin his Dimension Data at the next big race.Cavendishs performance never faltered on the road, either. In fact, the sprinting specialist earned the yellow jersey in the Tour de France after winning the opening stage, then won three more stages to stamp his mark on the sports biggest race. But Cavendish said all along that one of his priorities this season was that elusive Olympic medal, so he found himself abandoning the Tour in the final week to transition to the track. The past few weeks, he had been fiercely focused on succeeding inside the velodrome.I think gold would have been a fairytale but I dont think you can be unhappy with his ride, British Cycling coach Iain Dyer said. Its not easy gig by any stretch of the imagination but I think hes done himself proud here and I hope in the hours and days he will appreciate it.His effort in the six-race omnium was hardly without flaws. The biggest may have come in the elimination race, one of his better events, where he appeared to let up before the line and was knocked out by the Brazilian rider. Cavendish knew immediately how costly those lost points would be, slamming his palm on his handlebars during his cool-down lap.More trouble occurred in the points race Monday night, when Cavendish failed to see a South Korean rider next to him. Cavendish swerved down the banking of the track and collided with him, sending not only the Korean rider to the ground but also causing a pileup that caused Viviani to crash.Cavendish accepted the blame for the crash, but it ultimately didnt affect his standing. The bigger problem for Cavendish in the points race, where points are earned for intermediate sprints and bonus points are given for lapping the field, was that Viviani was marking him the entire time.Cavendish could never make a move to overcome his Italian rival.Still, he walked away from the Rio Games with the medal he so long desired, the glaring hole in his otherwise imperious resume finally filled -- even if it was filled with silver rather than gold.
