ALAMEDA, Calif. Stitched Jerseys . -- Four days after losing control of the AFC West race with a loss at Kansas City, Oakland coach Jack Del Rio is still lamenting some missed opportunities that helped cost the Raiders the game.A pass that mysteriously changed directions, turning a potential touchdown into an incompletion. The failure to capitalize on three turnovers in Kansas City territory. The decision to pass on third-and-1 late in the game instead of trusting the running game. That last decision might have been the most costly. Despite the earlier problems, the Raiders (10-3) were in position for a potential tying score late when they drove to the Kansas City 14 with just over two minutes to play.Facing a third-and-1, Oakland called for a pass to Andre Holmes in the end zone that Marcus Peters broke up . Del Rio said he considered calling a timeout after hearing the play call to go for a run behind a powerful offensive line that had produced 135 yards on the ground but didnt want to squander a second timeout at a crucial spot.It wouldve made a lot of sense to run right there, Del Rio said. As we look at it as a staff were going, `Geez, what the heck?Del Rio figured that in the worst-case scenario, Oakland could run it on fourth down but right tackle Austin Howard was called for a false start before that play and Derek Carrs fourth-down pass to Seth Roberts fell incomplete. Kansas City ran out the clock to seal the 21-13 victory .You have to go with your gut, Del Rio said. I went with it trying to keep both options alive figuring that worst case wed go on fourth and get it. Then we went a delayed cadence and just really missed an opportunity. There were several throughout the game. You just dont know which one is going to be the one.The Raiders could have taken control of the division by beating the Chiefs to take a two-game lead with three games to play. Instead, Kansas City is tied with Oakland for first place and owns the tiebreaker by virtue of sweeping the season series. If the Raiders want to win the division they can ill afford any more slipups starting with Sundays game at San Diego and will also need the Chiefs to lose at least one game.My approach is really simple, Del Rio said. I tell our guys, `Were not going to lay around and bathe in the adulation of a win. Look how good this is. Were also not going to sit and wallow in misery when we lose. Were going to be matter of fact. There were plenty of other issues earlier in the game. The Raiders had three drives start in Kansas City territory after turnovers and turned them into only six points as Oakland settled for two field goals and then botched a snap on the third.A penalty on Taiwan Jones forced the Raiders to punt a second time and Tyreek Hill took advantage with a 78-yard return for a score. Making matters even worse, punter Marquette King was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after the return, his second straight week with a personal foul.We cant have routine 15-yard penalties out of our punter, Del Rio said. Weve got two in a row, two weeks in a row, and thats got to come to a stop. Then on Oaklands second-to-last drive in the fourth quarter, Carr appeared to have Amari Cooper open deep for what could have been a touchdown. But the ball changed directions at the last moment and Cooper couldnt adjust , leading to an incomplete pass and a punt. There was speculation that the ball might have hit a wire for one of NBCs cameras but the network said that was not the case and the coaches film revealed no reason for the altered flight of the ball. The angel in the outfield, Del Rio said. I mean, it moved. I dont know if it hit a wire or the angel in the outfield moved it, a gust of wind. I dont know. It moved. To me, it was like one of so many plays that could have gone differently. Im certainly not sitting here hung up on that play.Game notes DL Mario Edwards Jr., who has been out since the preseason with a hip injury, looked good in practice last week and could be activated from IR this week. ... JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After making a diving catch in the back of the end zone, Jordy Nelson celebrated with teammates and then took a knee.It was a private moment that seemed to signal the end of a long road back from a knee injury.Nelson played his first meaningful game in 20 months Sunday, finishing with six catches for 32 yards and a touchdown in a victory at Jacksonville . Nelson didnt show his usual big-play ability, but he found the end zone and probably gained some confidence in his surgically repaired right knee.It feels great having Jordy back, quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. He does so many things well out there. He had a great second and third reaction on the TD catch .Nelson, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the 2015 preseason, left the visiting locker room before media were allowed in, so his reaction to his first real game since the 2014 NFC championship will have to wait. It also was his first TD catch in 630 days, since Dec. 21, 2014, at Tampa Bay.It was great, fellow receiver Davante Adams said. He came back just like he always does. He made several key catches for us to get us yards and first downs when we needed it. He brings a lot to this offense. Werre all glad to have him back out there with us. Supply Jerseys China. Nelson had half his catches in a four-play stretch late in the first half. The final one was the biggest of the day, though. He ran by linebacker Paul Posluszny, settled into an open spot in Jacksonvilles zone and then threw both arms up to let Rodgers know he was open.Rodgers, meanwhile, was dancing in the pocket. He took a step forward, started to move left, backpedaled and then sprinted to his right. Somewhere in there, Rodgers spotted Nelson and zipped the ball just past Prince Amukamaras outstretched hands for a touchdown and a 14-10 lead.I know they look to him, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said. We kind of had an idea that they are a really good combination. Theres a lot of trust that goes on between those two. They know each other real well, where theyre going to be on certain routes and Aaron trusts him. Whenever you have that type of a combination, thats what all teams are trying to build and they are both elite players.---AP NFL website: and AP NFL Twitter feed: ' ' '
Darren Lehmann is contracted to be Australias coach until after the 2019 World Cup and Ashes double. Zalando Puma Scarpe . Steven Smith, at 27 years old, is to be Australias captain for as long as he wants the job. Australias squad of 12 for the Perth Test is to be retained, unchanged, regardless of the result at the WACA Ground. On the face of it, these factoids suggest stability at the top levels of Australian cricket. After the swings and roundabouts of the Michael Clarke era - both before and during his eventful captaincy - everyone connected with the game seemed eager for a period of consolidation with a new team. Around the time of his contract renewal in August, Lehmann refreshed his support staff in anticipation of the next four years. But the security around the national team and its leaders is growing increasingly at odds with the results being delivered. The ruthless exposure of Smiths side by a South African team shorn of AB de Villiers (before the tour) and Dale Steyn (midway through the first innings) has been the equivalent of the tide going out to expose who has been swimming naked. Pretty much every batsman, as it turns out.Perth now appears likely to be Australias fourth consecutive Test match loss. Such a result would also be the first time an Australian Test team has lost the first match of a home summer since 1988. It will be of little comfort to Smith and Lehmann to know that, having been battered at the Gabba by Viv Richards indomitable West Indians, Allan Borders men promptly lost Test matches two and three as well.Brisbane, of course, has always been seen as the Australian fortress, a venue where the team have remained unbeaten every year since the aforementioned defeat. If it does not attract the same scale of crowds that flock to the MCG on Boxing Day or the SCG in the New Year, the Gabbas importance to the home summer is epitomised by the way the Australian team associates it with swift and brutal victories. Before this match, Smith talked of strutting around like I own the place as the sort of attitude he likes to project. It has always been easier for Australian cricketers to do that at the Gabba in the first Test of summer. Certainly it would have been easier for the hosts to do that in Brisbane against South Africa rather than in Perth, which just so happens to be a venue where these visitors have never lost.South Africa had plenty of history behind them entering this series. Victories in each of their past two series in Australia brought plenty of happy memories, as did the fact that Perth was the venue of the series-sealer in 2012, a melancholy final Test match for Ricky Ponting. They had been afforded, too, a lengthy and suitable preparation, mixing bouts with both the red ball in use in Perth and the latest iteration of the pink one to be unveiled for the third Test in Adelaide at the end of November.Australias players, meanwhile, have been shunted around. Not only from Brisbane to Perth, but between formats as well. It is near enough to unheard of for only one round of Sheffield Shield cricket to have been played before the first Test team is selected, and that too with a pink ball rather than a red one. At the start of the week, Josh Hazlewood was asked whether all this was going to be a problem. You get used to it, he said. It is part of cricket. That is undoubtedly true, as Cricket Australia chases new and bigger audiences for the game down under. However the question that seemingly has not been asked, is this. Are all these changes, and schedule compromises, something the present team is capable of coping with? The present evidence suggests not. Equally, it appears that the present regime is a little too comfortable given the present results. Four years is a long time for any coach to be guaranteed tenure - just ask Mickey Arthur. Twenty-seven is a young age to be a captain - just ask Kim Hughes.Overall then, Perth has exposed a troubling complacency around the Australian team. This has been as true in the micro as the macro. While South Africa have made the most of their resources, shrugging off the loss of Steyn with admirable resilience, the Australians have squandered many of their own, in turn exposing the likes of Mitchell Marsh to situations beyond his present state of aptitude.Anyone looking for an exemplar needed to look only as far as David Warner, running a quick single in the confident expectation that Temba Bavuma would struggle to field his off side push let a lone throw down the stumps, leading to Shaun Marshs exit moments later. Anyone looking for another could find Smith throwing the kitchen sink at a wide ball on a length some eight overs before the close, exposing Adam Voges to a rampaging Kagiso Rabada. At the start of the year, Voges average was vying with that of Bradman. Smiths captaincy record was similarly lofty. Neither could have claimed to be mighty, but they have certainly fallen. So too has the Australian team. They, and their CA, bosses, have some serious thinking to do. Zalando Scarpe Puma Scontate . He says so-called TRT is only one problem and he wants to go even further than the ban. The Cleveland Cavaliers know what it feels like to enter the season as Eastern Conference favorites. Discount New Balance Shoes .They begin this one with an entirely unfamiliar label -- defending champions. The rest of the East has spent the last six years unsuccessfully trying to unseat LeBron James from the throne. Whether he has been in Cleveland or Miami, James has led his team to the NBA Finals every year since 2011. But his crowning achievement came last season, when his Cavaliers captured the citys first pro sports championship in 52 years by defeating the record-breaking Golden State Warriors. Now the Cavaliers are wearing an even bigger target on their backs. Its the same mindset: Lets win a championship, James said. We just want to be able to put ourselves in position to do that. We have the ability, we have the personnel, but we have to work now. We cant expect for it to happen just like we didnt expect for it to happen last year. We put the time into it.The Boston Celtics finally found a star in Al Horford to team with a lunch pail group that has overachieved under coach Brad Stevens. The Toronto Raptors are back for more after falling to the Cavs in the Eastern Conference finals and Chicago and New York brought in aging stars in a desperate attempt to change the balance of power in the leagues weaker conference.James reply: Bring it on.We cant be entitled to anything weve got to go out and get it and work for it, he said. Were a team thats very driven and we look forward to all the challenges the season holds.A look at the East:---PLAYOFF BOUND1. Cleveland -- Championship hangover? No one expects that with the Cavs. There is one certainty in the NBA: LeBron will make it to the finals.2. Boston -- Horford and Stevens appear to be the perfect match.3. Toronto -- Keep doubting the Raptors. Kyle Lowry wants you to. Should be nip and tuck with the Celtics all season.4. Washington -- Heres where it starts to get dicey. Wiz are betting Scott Brooks will be able to push the buttons Randy Wittman couldnt.5. Atlanta -- The Hawks took a step back last season, then swapped Horford for Dwight Howard. Things could go either way in Hotlanta this season.6. Charlotte -- Mostly stood pat this summer after a surprising sixth-place finish last year. A healthy Michael Kidd-Gilchrist sure could make a difference.7. Detroit -- Would have picked them higher, but Reggie Jacksons injury is a concern.8. Indiana -- Pacers swapped out the underrated George Hill for Jeff Teague, traded Frank Vogel for Nate McMillan and brought in Thaddeus Young and Al Jefferson to funk things up.---IN THE MIX9. Chicago -- Dwyane Wades homecoming is a great story. But the severe lack of shooting figures to hold the Bulls back.10. Miami -- With Wade and Chris Bosh gone, its rebuilding time. Dont expect Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra to be down long, though.11. New York -- Manhattan is all excited about the star power that Phil Jackson brought in. The reality is Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah have not been completely healthy for years.12. Milwaukee -- Khris Middletons injury is a killer that prompted scrambling for wing help. The Greek Freak at point guard, thought? That will be appointment viewing.---FACING LONG ODDS13. Orlando -- Vogel landed with the Magic and he has all kinds of defensive weapons at his disposal. That will be essential because scoring may be difficult to come by.14. Philadelphia -- You have to be kidding us with the Ben Simmons injury. Hey, at least Joel Embiid is healthy. Please keep it that way.15. Brooklyn -- Move over Philly, theres a new basement dweller in the East! Sean Marks and Kenny Atkinson are well thought of, but its going to take time to get this thing turned around.---WHAT TO KNOWLEBRONS LEGACY: The last time James did not appear in the NBA Finals was 2010 when the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Celtics. James Cavaliers were eliminated in the East semifinals by the Celtics, and he signed with the Heat that summer.WALL AND BEAL: Much has been made of the chemistry, or lack thereof, in Washingtons backcourt. If John Wall and Bradley Beal are on the same page, the Wizards are dangerous. If they cant find a way to harmonize, Washington could plummet down the standings.NEW FACES: Brooks in Washington, McMillan in Indiana, Vogel in Orlando, Atkinson in Brooklyn and Jeff Hornacek in New York start their first seasons as coaches after a summer of upheaval in the conference.SCHRODER TIME: The Hawks traded Teague to Indiana to open the door for Schroders slashing game. Hes been waiting for this chance, and his ability to run the team, play defense and knock down the occasional jumper will be critical to Atlantas chances.ROOKIE WATCH: Only three of the top nine picks in the draft went to teams in the East. Youngsters to keep an eye on include Jaylen Brown in Boston, Jakob Poeltl for Toronto, Thon Maker in Milwaukee and Denzel Valentine in Chicago.---AP Sports Writer Tom Withers in Cleveland contributed to this report.---Follow Jon Krawczynski on Twitter: Wholesale New Balance Shoes .Y. -- Marcell Dareus and the Buffalo Bills defence made life miserable for Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco. The countdown is almost over, and its time for one of my favourite sporting weeks of the year. The Masters is just around the corner, and what a tournament we have in prospect.Twelve months ago, we looked forward to a wide-open and exciting week and we were not disappointed. We saw a record number of birdies and eagles, and Jordan Spieth proved a worthy champion at just 21 years of age. Bubba Watson helped Jordan Spieth into the Green Jacket 12 months ago But this year, I think we could see an even better tournament. Looking at the list of genuine contenders, there are so many players in with a chance of slipping on that famous Green Jacket on Sunday afternoon, and that reflects the state of the sport at the moment. In my opinion, golf is more exciting than ever right now. There is not much separating the top 30 players in the world rankings, and having four of the top five still in their 20s is great for the game. Jason Day is the hot hand right now, taking over from Jordan Spieth as world No 1 Jason Day is now ranked as the best player on the planet after following up his win at Bay Hill with a stunning performance in last weeks WGC Match Play. He is fantastic to watch, and he deserves all of the success hes had since hitting a purple patch at the end of last summer. Eight places Get eight places on the Masters with Sky Bet! Day has knocked Spieth off the summit, and its fair to say Jordan has been a little out of sorts in recent weeks - something he has acknowledged with typical good grace. But I still believe in Jordan Spieth. Spieth has not been in the best of form, but he cant be ruled out at Augusta I tipped him to be the best of the vast crop of talented young guns at the Masters last year, and I was delighted to see him produce one of the best performances Augusta has ever witnessed despite his tender years.Jordan might have gone off the boil lately, but he has an old head on those young shoulders and I dont doubt for a second that he can turn his form around on the grandest stage of all. He is naturally gifted, one of the best putters in the world, and returning to the scene of his remarkable win last year will spur him on once again. Rory McIlroy will be hungrier than ever to complete a career Grand Slam of majors And then theres Rory McIlroy, who I think is a really hot bet for the Masters this year. Nobody in the field will be as hungry as Rory to get their hands on that Green Jacket, and he will be more focused and determined than ever to join the elite club with a career Grand Slam of majors.Hes been playing well this year without quite managing a victory, but this is the week he will have had at the forefront of his planning for many weeks now. The course sets up perfectly for him, and changing his putting technique has galvanised his confidence over the last month. McIlroy has opted out of the Par Three contest this year Its a shame he has opted not to play the Par Three contest this year, but Ive got no problem with that. That just shows how meticulous his preparations are, and if he can string four solid rounds together on a course that sets up perfectly for him, hell be hard to beat.Rory couldnt quite get it together over the first couple of rounds last year, and the weight of expectation might have had an impact on that. But he shot 68 and 66 over the weekend to finish tied for fourth - thats what hes capable of, and he knows it.Im also expecting a good showing from a number of English challengers this year, and Id be thrilled if Justin Rose can pull off something special. He might be in his mid-30s now, but I feel he still has so much to give. He always seems to be up there contending for majors and, with his game maturing all the time, Im sure hell be one to watch next week. Andy Sullivan has been great to watch over the last 18 months Justin has been an established world-class player for many years now, but Andy Sullivan has risen to prominence over the last 18 months and has proved one of the mosst popular players in the game. New Balance Sneakers Discount. He is a wonderful character, and I love his attitude on the course. He wont beat himself up if he makes a mistake, he just shrugs it off and thinks about the next hole. That is a priceless attribute, and Ive no doubt he will cope well with the pressures of making his debut at the Masters.Andy is one of the most improved players in the world, and the same can definitely be said of Danny Willett. He upstaged McIlroy to win in Dubai earlier this year, and his superb run of results has elevated him to 12th in the world rankings.Theres also Matt Fitzpatrick, who was a pleasure to watch when he won the British Masters supported by Sky Sports last autumn. He was the youngest player in the field at Woburn and his victory provided a great story. Ian Poulter boosted his Masters and Ryder Cup hopes with a strong week in Puerto Rico The performances of the British and European players are all the more under scrutiny in a Ryder Cup year, and nobody is aware of that more than Ian Poulter. Hes had a difficult few months, but he bounced back in Puerto Rico last week and finished a shot out of a play-off for the title.Poults is in the field for the Masters having been in the top 12 last year, and his display at Coco Beach gives him plenty to build on as he looks to force his way into Darren Clarkes team. Watch The Masters throughout the week live on Sky Sports - your home of Golf. It would be great to see him have another strong week at Augusta, and Poulter is one of a number of the old guard who will be determined to show the youngsters they will not have it all their own way this year.Adam Scott is probably the stand-out star in that group, and he has been in blistering form lately. Many said he would struggle when the anchored putting ban came into force in January, but he has silenced the doubters and has been putting better than he ever has.He is most certainly back among the worlds elite, and history tells us that the best putter often wins the Masters. And if you combine his recent form with his record at Augusta, he is yet another player in with a shout. Phil Mickelson will be preparing for his 24th Masters appearance And dont forget Phil Mickelson, a three-time Masters champion. He didnt have a great 2015, but he has looked in good touch so far this year. Experience is a valuable asset during the first major of the year, and no one has more experience than Phil as he prepares for his 24th appearance at Augusta. You can never discount a past Masters champion, and that brings Bubba Watson and Charl Schwartzel into the frame as well. Both have won on the PGA Tour this year, and both on very tough courses, and that bodes well for the challenge ahead. Then theres the likes of Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed, or how about Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace - the list seems never ending. Kirsty will be bringing you all the latest updates from Augusta throughout Masters week Picking a prospective winner at this years Masters is tougher than ever, but isnt that a good thing? Were looking at a field with an alluring blend of dynamic young talent, highly-respected elder statesmen, charismatic newcomers and - above all - genuine role models. That just reaffirms what I said earlier - that the state of the game today is in fantastic shape, with top-quality players from all parts of the globe bidding to make their mark over four enthralling days in Georgia. But one thing is certain. Whoever ends up in the Butler Cabin on Sunday evening will be a worthy champion. The anticipation is building, and I cant wait to get out there to bring you all the latest news, developments and interviews from beside the first fairway. His words were incongruous in context with the scorecard, but you knew what Alastair Cook meant when he said his England team will leave Visakhapatnam with their heads held high. Nike Running Shoes Clearance Sale .While there should never come a day when a defeat this crushing - in terms of runs, India have only beaten England once by a larger margin than the 246 here - is accepted without pain, you knew what Cook meant when he said his side had a lot of reasons to be encouraged. The end came quickly. After admirable defiance on day four, England subsided so quickly that, wicket to wicket, they lost all 10 in their second innings for only 83 runs.Clearly that isnt good enough. But there were several unplayable deliveries (it is an overused word, but apt for the balls that dismissed Haseeb Hameed and Zafar Ansari) and several that were hugely demanding. Ben Stokes also received a beautiful delivery; it was no disgrace to be dismissed by it.Perhaps the margin was a little misleading, too. England had decided to concentrate on crease occupation, inspired by South Africa lasting 143 overs in Delhi a year ago, and reasoned that, if they could survive 150, they would be close to safety; Cook admitted it may have been a mistake. They made little effort to chase their improbable target. True, it didnt work out and true, had they played more aggressively, the margin might have been smaller. But they might have lost on day four, too.In truth, by the time England began their second innings, this game was gone and there is no tactic that could have brought it back. This was a game lost on the first two days. By dropping Virat Kohli on 56 (he scored 248 runs in the game and the margin of victory was 246; you dont have to be a genius to understand his influence) and losing five wickets before stumps on day two, England sustained injuries from which they could not recover. As well as Stokes and Jonny Bairstow batted on day three, as well as Cook and Hameed batted on day four and as well as Englands bowlers - their seamers, in particular - performed on both, the wound was too deep. When you concede 455 and youre 80 for five, its a long way back, Cook said. That cost us the game. Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes showed character and if you take Kohlis runs out of their second innings - obviously you cant do that - they only made 120. But when youre behind its very hard to recover in these conditions. Its all about first innings runs. We showed some good skill and fight, though. We made a conscious effort to play the way we did in the fourth innings. Of course, when it does not work you feel you could have been more positive. But you make a decision as a captain. We came up a bit short. We fought so hard. Ive got myself to blame.Clearly the toss was important, too. But Cook was careful to honestly acknowledge its influence without hiding behind it as the reason for defeat. He knows that once sides start looking for excuses, they are already beaten. We can all agree it was a good toss to win, he said. The first day was the best day to bat. It became harder to score. On these two wickets, it has been very advantageous to bat first. But it doesnt guarantee any result. India fought hard and came out with a draw and we werent good enough to do it. Those five wickets on day two meant that we werent capable of getting close to their first innings score. They bowled well. They are good bowlers in these conditions. But in Rajkot we got over 700 runs and here we made them work really hard in the last innings. They are good bowlers, but they are not supermen by any stretch of imagination.Chris Woakes looks almost certain to return in Mohali for the injured Stuart Broad. While there can be no complaints about the performance of Englands seamers in Visakhapatnam, England did - for the first time in a while - appear to have something of a tail. The last three batsmen scored 17 between them in the first innings and the last four nine between them in the second. James Anderson recorded Englands first king pair since 1906. Its not one of the records he will cherish. There will be more concern about the No. 4 position, though. Ben Duckett never looked likely to score runs here with a first-innings dismissal suggesting at technical deficiencies and a second-innings dismissal suggesting a scrambled mind. Seemingly lacking confidence in his defence - not least because of the repeated manner of his dismissals against offspin - he snatched at a sweep like a drowning man snatching at driftwood. Afterwards Cook referred to a technical flaw and seemed to be preparing the ground for a change. It would be a surprise if Duckett played in Mohali. The difference from playing in Northampton to playing here is quite stark, Cook said. Suddenly every innings is scrutinized. Suddenly this technical flaw - whether its a technical flaw or not - people are aware of it and theres no doubt it affects guys. Ben is a really talented cricketer and I think well see a lot more of him in an England shirt. Whether he plays in Mohali or not, the selectors will have to take a call on that. The problem England have is the form of their alternatives. Gary Ballance was dropped after the Dhaka debacle having averaged only 19.90 in the six Tests since he was recalled in July and failed to reach 30 in his last seven innings. He has actually started to bat nicely in the nets and that first-class record (he has an average of 47.38 with 29 centuries) reminds us he is a player of some pedigree. But it would be a surprise if England came back to him just yet. That leaves only Jos Buttler from a squad that looks a batsman short. Buttler has only had one first-class game in the 12 months since he was dropped. While few would dispute his talent, there is a reason he was dropped and it was, in part, due to his struggles building an innings. He has scored only four first-class centuries - both Woakes and Adil Rashid have double that number - and a first-class batting average of 32.07. He looks most likely to play, though. Ansaris place will come under scrutiny, too. He endured a quiet game in Visakhapatnam, taking no wickets and scoring only four runs, but he was clearly not well (he vomited on the outfield at one stage) and suffered a back spasm, too. It remains to be seen if he is Englands best left-arm option (Samit Patel would have offered better batting against spin; Jack Leach better bowling), but it would be harsh to judge him on this showing.Hes had a tough three days physically, Cook said. We do think hes got a role to play, but obviously physically we have to make sure hes all right. Its tough enough conditions when youre operating at 100%, so if youre not, its not ideal.Broad, though, gained great praise from his captain for his whole-hearted, skilful performance in demanding circumstances. There was no five-wicket haul but, when Broad looks back on this Test, he might reflect on it as one of the displays of which he could be most proud. The tendon injury he sustained on the first day renders it most unlikely he will be fit to play in Mohali. To get through like he did was an extraordinary effort, Cook said. I think he was in a lot more pain than people know and he showed a hell of a lot of character. Its probably one of the main reasons why hes been one of Englands greatest bowlers. When it got really tough, he stood up, he bowled his overs and got on with it.We dont know enough about the injury yet because its quite an unusual one, but yes, if he plays in Mohali, hell be a big risk.Despite the magnitude of defeat, Cook remained relatively upbeat. Partly because of Englands success in coming from behind in 2012 - they lost the first Test in Ahmedabad on that occasion - and partly because his side have, for large periods, competed well, he could envisage a way in which success could be achieved. They just have to take every chance and cut out the bad sessions.Whats giving me belief is that, over 10 days of cricket, we have competed very well in India in their conditions, he said. Yes, we have lost by a big margin. But it was a massive toss to lose and in certain periods of game we played some good cricket. We have put their batters under a lot of pressure. Adil Rashid has been excellent in these two games, a real step up for him. Moeen Ali bowled really well and Jimmy Anderson was good on his comeback. So there have been a lot of good things. But we have got to put the whole game together to beat India. If we can get ahead of them in Mohali, then we can put pressure on them.Yes, weve lost this game, but well hold our heads up high. There are a lot of reasons to be encouraged. Cheap Nike Running Shoes China . Marincin has played in two NHL games so far this season with two penalty minutes. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Air Jordan 6 Wholesale . -- Acknowledging that its been a combination of tough to watch but great to see [the Patriots] win, quarterback Tom Brady said viewing the teams opening two victories on television has sparked an appreciation for the clubs approach.I was hoping to gain a little different perspective, and I think I have, Brady said during his weekly Westwood One radio interview prior to Monday Night Football. Its amazing the way our team responds to adversity and the way our coaches prepare us for all these different situations that we face. Im just proud of the guys for how hard theyre working. You can see it on TV, and obviously its really paying off. Its great to be a fan of the Patriots and its really great to be a player on the Patriots. I definitely have gained that perspective, and hopefully we get to 3-0 on Thursday night. The Patriots host the Houston Texans on Thursday, which is a quick turnaround with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolos status is in question after he suffered a sprained AC joint in his right, throwing shoulder Sunday. Garoppolo left in the second quarter after throwing three touchdown passes in a 31-24 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Its tough ... I feel for him, Brady said on the program. He made a great play to escape the pocket and made a great throw on the run on a third-down play. The linebacker [Kiko Alonso] hit him and landed on top of him. You see that quite a bit in the NFL. Its a tough injury, especially your throwing shoulder ... I know hell be back out there as soon as he can. ... Who knows? Jimmy may be out there [Thursday]. Well see how it plays out.Brady had been impressed with what he saw from Garoppolo up to that point. Its been a great start. Hes a very hard worker, and Im just proud of the way that hes led the team, Brady said. To be 2-0 at this point when two of the other [division] teams are 0-2, its really great for our team. Hes done a really great job.If Garoppolo doesnt play Thursday, rookie Jacoby Brissett would take over. The third-round pick from NC State (91st overall) has caught Bradys eye quickly.Jacoby has done a great job taking advantage of his opportunity as well, Brady told host Jim Gray. He went in there [Sunday] and showed a lot of poise. He has a great demeanor about him. I love working with him. He shows up to work every day working hard. Hes very competitive, and I know our coaching staff will have him prepared and ready to go for Thursday night if hes called upon.Meanwhile, its possible that receiver Julian Edelman could be the teams emergency quarterback, which led Brady to joke about his best pal.He still talks about that touchdown pass he threw against Baltimore [in the playoffs] a few years ago. Hes kind of batting 1.000 right now, Brady cracked.Edelman played quarterback at Kent State before switching to receiver after the Patriots selected him in the seventh round of the 2009 draft. By his fifth NFL season, he had emerged as one of Bradys go-to targets. If he was ever thrust into the top spot at quarterback, Brady, turning serious, expressed confidence.Coach Belichick always has the team prepared for any situation. He thinks these things through, and obviously the game just happened [Sunday], so a lot of things could happen between now and Thursday night, but Julian has kind of been in that role, he said.Hes played the position and, God forbid anything happened to Jacoby, if hes the only guy out there at quarterback, if thats the case, then Id expect Julian to go in there and the coaches to be comfortable with the plays that theyre calling for him.As for Brady himself, he confirmed that he worked out with former teammate Wes Welker on Sunday morning, saying, It was fun to be out there on the field with him. We got out there and broke a pretty good sweat. In addition, Brady said hes been trying to replicate what hed normally do during the course of the week and feels hes in a decent place. He added that he looks forward to the next couple weeks going fast. While serving a four-game suspension as part of the NFLs Deflategate penalties has kept him away from the Patriots, it did bring Brady back to his alma mater on Saturday as he was honored at Michigan. Brady played catch with coach Jim Harbaugh on the field before the Wolverines victory over Colorado. They were so warm and embracing; I have a lot of love for the people there, he said. Coach Harbaugh has done such a great job with the university and the team, and bringing so much excitement back. ... It was a really cool experience being back in the Big House. Ive never had a chance to go back in the fall, so to have an opportunity to do it was really special. I had my son there with me, so it was such a memorable day and such a memorable experience for me and Jack. Cheap Air Jordan 6 Retro . ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- With a quarterback competition still underway, Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said Thursday Trevor Siemian will start Saturdays preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.And Kubiak said its possible he would name a starting quarterback for the Sept. 8 regular-season opener next week, leading into the Broncos third preseason game -- Aug. 27 against the Los Angeles Rams. Siemian was expected to start against the 49ers because?Mark Sanchez had started the preseason opener in Chicago.Trevor will start [Saturday], and he and Mark will play consistently the same amount, which will probably be -- Id like to tell you it would be a quarter and a half, but it will more of a play-count deal, Kubiak said. But Trevor will start, then Mark will go and then?Paxton [Lynch]?will finish up.If the play counts work to his liking, Kubiak said hed like Siemian to play into the second quarter, with Sanchez on the field for part of the second along with the third and Lynch closing out the game.Kubiak was asked whether he would like to name the starter for the regular-season opener in the days that follow Saturdays game.Would I like to? Sanchez was 10-of-13 passing for 99 yards to go with a touchdown and an interception in a quarter of work while Siemian was 7-of-12 for 88 yards in his quarter of work.Even with the uncertain nature of the quarterback battle, the rest of the Broncos just keep rolling in training camp. Linebacker Von Miller might have spoken for many of his teammates Thursday when he was asked what hes seen from the Broncos three quarterbacks thus far in camp.As much as Id like to admit I have all the quarterback knowledge, I really dont, Miller said. Its really not much I can say. ... The arms look great, footwork looks nice, pretty tight spirals. I like all of them. I feel like I can win with all three. ' ' '

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Adidas Superstar Offerte . -- This time, Tennessee delivered the comeback. And in the process, the Volunteers took out 11 years worth of frustration on Florida.Joshua Dobbs accounted for five second-half touchdowns Saturday and No. 14 Tennessee erased a 21-point deficit to beat No. 19 Florida 38-28 and end their 11-game losing streak in the annual series.I didnt see anybody blink, Tennessee coach Butch Jones said. Nobody flinched. They just kept playing. This marks the first time Tennessee (4-0, 1-0 SEC) has beaten Florida (3-1, 1-1) since 2004. The Volunteers had lost to Florida by one point each of the last two years despite leading in the fourth quarter of both games.Florida was so confident it would continue the streak that Gators cornerback Quincy Wilson boldly said this week that nobody has ever seen a duck pull a truck . Florida Gators are going to win, simple as that.Tennessee silenced the Gators by reeling off 38 consecutive points.I just kept looking at their body language on the sideline, and it was bad, said Tennessee defensive end Derek Barnett, who recorded two sacks. I think they worried about talking too much (rather than) focusing on playing football, and it showed at the end.Tennessee safety Todd Kelly Jr. added that it just looked like we took their soul, really.Dobbs went 16 of 32 for 319 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.Trailing 21-0 early against the nations top-ranked defense, Tennessee stormed back and pulled ahead for good 24-21 with 12:45 left on Dobbs 67-yard completion to a wide-open Jauan Jennings, who bobbled the ball a few times near the right sideline before making the catch while staying inbounds. They came in and took it to us, Florida coach Jim McElwain said. Its disappointing. Weve got a bunch of guys hurting in the locker room. ... These are life lessons. Not every day does everything go just like you wanted. I think the key is what you learn from it and how youre going to respond.Florida took an early 21-0 advantage on a pair of Austin Appleby touchdown passes and a 1-yard run by Jordan Scarlett. Both Appleby touchdown passes were set up by long completions from Appleby to Antonio Callaway. The Gators led 21-3 at halftime.Appleby threw three touchdown passes and one interception while starting in place of Luke Del Rio, who injured his left knee last week in a 32-0 rout of North Texas.Twice in the first half, Tennessee got inside Floridas 5-yard line and failed to score. We came into the locker room and we said, `Dont panic, Dobbs said. It was simple. Weve just got to execute. Weve just got to play our brand of football. We were moving the ball on them the whole game.THE TAKEAWAYFLORIDA: Perhaps the Gators defense isnt quite as good as its statistics suggested. A defense that had been allowing just 4.7 points and 129.7 yards per game couldnt keep Tennessees offense out of the end zone in the second half. Of course, that defense didnt get any help from an offense that disappeared during Tennessees comeback. The Gators second-half collapse will raise questions about their ability to handle adversity.TENNESSEE: Dobbs second-half performance answered questions about his accuracy and Tennessees downfield passing attack. After going 7 of 20 for 84 yards with an interception in the first half, Dobbs was 9 of 12 for 235 yards and four touchdowns and an interception the rest of the way. His second-half interception came on Tennessees first series of the third quarter. After that turnover, Dobbs led Tennessee into the end zone on five of its next six drives.POLL IMPLICATIONSTennessee, which was ninth in the preseason poll, should move back into the top-10 this week. Florida likely will sink toward the bottom of the Top 25.KEY NUMBERSTennessee has trailed by double digits in three of its four wins this season. .... PORTLAND, Ore. Cheap Puma Shoes Wholesale . -- These days Terry Porter often finds himself thinking back to the day he showed up on the campus of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. There had been no schools battling to recruit the young point guard from Milwaukee. The Panthers showed interest but couldnt offer him a scholarship. He arrived, like any freshman, unsure of his decision. But he did know one thing: He loved basketball. The journey that started at the Division III college a couple hours drive from his hometown long ago has brought Porter to the University of Portland, where hes charged with guiding a team of kids that are in so many ways just like he was.I liked the coach, and they had a couple of kids that were from my conference down in Milwaukee, so I knew I could room with them, Porter recalled. I tell our players all the time that theyre so far ahead of me when I was their age, because I didnt get a scholarship to play basketball. At Stevens Point there were no scholarships to be had. I was on grants and work study and things like that.Porter is in his first season as coach of the Pilots after some 17 seasons as a player in the NBA, then more than a decade as a coach or assistant in the league. He replaced Eric Reveno, who was dismissed earlier this year after 10 years with the Pilots.Tapping Porter, who is beloved in Portland, was a savvy move thats generated excitement for the Catholic universitys program. It was a great hire, I think, for the school, said Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, who played for the Pilots. Hes one of the Rip City legends in Portland. He has such a great class and reputation about him in the Northwest. I think its a fantastic fit. He brought more interest in the program just from him signing on than weve had in probably the history of the program.Porter played for the Trail Blazers from 1985-95, with a team that went to the Western Conference finals three times from 1990 to 1992 and to the NBA Finals twice. The starters on that team were Porter, Clyde Drexler, Jerome Kersey, Buck Williams and Kevin Duckworth, but the group would never win a title: In 1990, the Blazers lost to the Detroit Pistons, and in 1992 they couldnt overcome Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.Porter also played for the Timberwolves, the Heat and the Spurs over his NBA career. A two-time All-Star, he averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 assists and 1.2 steals a game. His 7,160 assists rank 14th on the NBAs all-time list. After his playing career was over, Porter was head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks for two seasons from 2003-2005 and for the Phoenix Suns during the 2008-09 season. He had stints as an assistant coach in Minnesota, Sacramento and Detroit.Hes not sure the young players on his team knew he was that Terry Porter when he was introduced as head coach. The only exceptions were his sons, freshman Malcolm and sophomore Franklin. They knew I played pro, but they didnt know if I had won championships, or all the teams I played with, or all the players I played with, and they wouldnt have known all the coaches I was blessed to work with, Porter said. They were just like, `Oh, he played in the LEAGUE, and he played for a long time. I think it made it a little bit easier for me, my body of work, because they were like `OK, he knows what hes talking about.Porter has never coached at the college level before, but hes already excited about sharing his experiences.Hes drawn on his contacts for advice. Porter even traveled to Miami to pick Spoelstras brain. We just met and talked shop, and it was fun. Swapping stories and talking about when he was here years ago and how excited he is about the job. I told him whatever he needs from me, Im here to help him, the Heat coach said.Porter also used his contacts in the sporting world to come up with some unique team-building activities. The group went to Seattle to spend a few days with the Seattle Seahawks, watching practices and hearing from coach Pete Carroll. He also draws on his experiences at Stevens Point, and his coach there, Dick Bennett. My college coach was the first coach I really learned a lot about basketball from, because my high school years were good, but I wasnt a great basketball player, Porter said. There was a huge amount of learning as my game progressed, and I definitely fell under the late bloomer category because I didnt have a great start. After four years at Stevens Point, Porter was the 24th overall pick by the Blazers in the 1985 draft. He remains Portlands career leader in assists (5,319) and is its third-leading scorer (11,330). He made 773 3-pointers on 2,006 attempts. At the Moda Center, just five miles away from the Pilots campus, Porters No. 30 hangs from the rafters.Ive been around basketball my whole life. The journey has been amazing. Its taken me to places I never could have imagined, he said. PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills are running out of backups to their backups at linebacker.IK Enemkpali sustained a season-ending right knee injury, and he will be released after being placed on the waived/injured list on Monday. The move freed up a roster spot for the Bills signing Kroy Biermann to address their already-thin pass-rushing depth.Enemkpali tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the second quarter of Buffalos 19-18 preseason-opening loss Indianapolis on Saturday. His foot caught in the turf and he fell awkwardly while being blocked by Colts lineman Jonotthan Harrison.Enemkpali was playing in place of projected rookie starter Shaq Lawson, who will miss at least the first month of the season because of shoulder surgery. Lawsons primary backup, Manny Lawson, is expected to miss a few more weeks recovering from a partially torn pectoral muscle. Its a concern, coach Rex Ryan said. I think wed all feel better if Manny was practicing. But hes not. And until he does, you dont have that comfort level.Until Lawson returns, Ryan intends to shift Lorenzo Alexander into the starting spot. Though Alexander has experience at the position, Ryan planned to have the offseason free-agent addition focus more on his various special teams duties.Biermann is listed at 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds, and spent his first eight NFL seasons in Atlanta. He had 2+ sacks and a forced fumble in 16 games, all as a backup, last season.Overall, he has 23+ sacks and 37 tackles for a loss in 114 games, including 37 starts.Enemkpalis tenure in Buffalo ended a year since Bills claimed him off waivers. The addition was notable coming a day after Enemkpali was released by the New York Jets for punching and breaking the jaw of quarterback Geno Smith during a locker-room confrontation. The Bills are also thin at inside linebacker with projected rookie starter Reggie Ragland to miss the season with a torn ligament in his left knee. The injury led to Buffalo signing Brandon Spikes and David Hawthorne on Aug. 7.Later in the day, the Bills bulked up their defensive line by signing Brandon Deaderick and Alameda Taamu. Barnes. On the bright side, backup running back Karlos Williams passed his physical and practiced for the first time Monday.Williams was overweight when reporting to training camp, and spent the past two weeks working out individually while on the teams active/non-football injury list.Williams weight issues date to June when he reported for the teams mandatory minicamps. He blamed the weight gain on snacking with his pregnant fiancee so she didnt have to eat alone. The second-year players troubles mounted last month, when the NFL suspended Williams for the first four games of the regular season for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.Williams made a splash as a rookie backing up starter LeSean McCoy last season. He had 517 yards rushing and scored nine touchdowns, including two receiving.Williams called it difficult missing the first two weeks of camp, and said it will be even tougher to miss the first month of the season.Theres no way you can really describe that feeling, he said. Its going to be tough. And its a process you have to live and learn. Im learning from it, and its time to move on.As for staying in shape, Williams said hes altered his eating habits by cutting out big meals, especially late at night. He has also leaned on teammates for advice, including defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, who had several off-field issues two years ago. Hes also talked to defensive tackle Kyle Williams, who has five children, about how he balances family and his career.I pretty much got that I cant take care of my family if I dont take care of myself first, said Williams, who has four children. So thats really something that Im trying to change about the atmosphere of my family now.---AP NFL website: and AP NFL Twitter feed: ' ' '

After the long, dry months of winter, the heat is back, without the rain - so, each afternoon, eyes are drawn to the gathering clouds in anticipation that that might be the day the heavens finally open. Until the rains come, the air remains heavy with the accumulated haze of winters fires, the giant trees look tired from thirst and the heat becomes oppressive. By evening, the clouds have dissipated, taking hope with them. Maybe tomorrow.Zimbabwe cricket has built a similar feeling of anticipation on a handful of occasions since 2009, when it first began to stir from the tumult of the post-rebel period. But, each time, like an October afternoon, hope turned to more disappointment. It is probably better to whisper it, then, but as Zimbabwe prepare to play their 100th Test on Saturday, expectation is in the air once more. There have been times in the past few years when every Test, no matter how painful the result, felt worth savouring for the simple fact that they came along so rarely. What, one might wonder, are the odds of Zimbabwe playing another 100 at the current rate, in the current environment? Those odds will always be determined by happenings beyond the boundary, which too freely dictate the rise and (mostly) fall of Zimbabwes on-field fortunes. Yet, at least now, there are positive movements that could bring improvement to those playing the game.Heath Streak has come in as head coach, adding stability after a chaotic few months in which the inexperienced Makhaya Ntini was thrown in at the deep end, probably unfairly. More significantly, having now had several months to get his teeth into his new administrative roles, Tatenda Taibu feels that the wheels are starting to turn. Breaking away from an umpires meeting delivered by former Zimbabwe international and ICC match referee Andy Pycroft on Thursday morning, Taibu confirmed that the domestic season is due to start on November 22 and should run through to August. Significantly, as many as 40 contracts are expected to be offered, ranging from one to three years. This is a major improvement on the paltry six-month contracts that domestic cricketers have previously been offered for a pitifully short first-class season.Equally important has been the increasing number of fixtures enjoyed by the Zimbabwe A team, who have hosted South Africa A and Pakistan A in recent months. Those tours, along with a visit by a Sri Lankan Development Emerging side in July, have begun to unearth new talent that Streak has promised to make use of. Finally, challengers are emerging to the old faces in the Zimbabwe side, who have maintained their places because of a lack of alternatives. Fast bowler Carl Mumba and top-order batsman Tarisai Musakanda could make their international debuts in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka after impressing for Zimbabwe A. When I took on the job, I said that I wanted to push some of the youngsters, but I also said that I wanted to create a platform for young guys to showcase themselves, said Streak. Before, when you didnt make the national side there was nothing below that, other than domestic cricket, or there were gaps of no cricket, which made it difficult for guys to get back in the side or showcase their ability. So thats definittely something Im going to create, and Im also looking at succession planning, and where we see gaps and where we see youngsters, that will be able to fill them. Kent Tekulve Jersey. That will reflect in contracts, in selections and in age-group teams - working out what we need to keep supporting the national team. However, as is always the case for Zimbabwe, a lack of continuity in Tests means that they must show improvement now. Their next Test assignment, as things stand, is a tour of Sri Lanka next June, meaning their 100th and 101st Tests could be their last chance to make an impression for eight months. The Sri Lanka team that has traveled to Zimbabwe is young and raw, but by June they could resemble a wisened old group of pros by Zimbabwe standards - especially if they achieve their objectives on this tour. Its quite an exciting time for us, because it is very much a rebuilding time, but because of injuries were forced to accelerate that process and play some young guys, coach Graham Ford said. Some of the young chaps that will play have been in and around the Test squad for the last while but havent got much game time. This is a chance for them to show what they can do and for us to assess them further, and hopefully theyll take that opportunity. We do have a really tough series coming up in South Africa over the Christmas period, so its important that we keep trying to make progress. When we played England in England we got beaten but the key was to make progress and I think we did improve along the way. We certainly improved against Australia, and were going to need to keep improving if were going to compete against South Africa in South Africa.Such a schedule is the envy of Zimbabwes cricketers, who have played just six Tests in three years - as many as Sri Lanka have played this year alone. Streak feels that if they are to make immediate improvement, a new culture is required. Obviously its still very early in my tenure, but what I hope people will be able to see [in this series] is a change in mindset, Streak said. I want to encourage the guys not to be scared of losing and not to like losing. In the past we had this mindset where were just happy to be able to compete and not embarrass ourselves at this level. And as a group weve spoken about it and decided were not happy to do that any more. Weve got to take things forward.Of course, as has been the case for so long in Zimbabwe, events away from the field will determine how long progress on it may last. With Zimbabwe Cricket carrying $19m debt and no fresh income streams on the horizon, it is difficult to see how they can afford a bigger and better domestic system, more contracts, a proposed new academy and more tours for the A team. ZCs finances have been in such disarray that, nearly 10 months after the end of their financial year, they are still to have an audit signed off - a situation that has put them at odds with the ICCs new requirements. In theory, there is much to be positive about. But until the issues of finance and administration are taken care of, the game in Zimbabwe will continue to feel like another hot afternoon in Harare, when the rain just wont come. ' ' '
