Now the Indianapolis Colts cornerback has a starting job and a lucrative new contract.Less than three years after entering the league as an undrafted rookie , Moore was rewarded by the Colts with a four-year deal that will keep their top three cornerbacks together through 2021.Financial details were not immediately available, but NFL Network reported the deal would make Moore the league’s highest-paid slot cornerback.“There’s a lot of odds against you, but its possible (to make it),” he said Friday after the team’s final offseason workout. “They believe in me.”It’s a remarkable ascension for Moore, who didn’t play high school football until his senior year. That came at the urging of a friend, who lost his starting job when he was booted off the team. Moore considered joining the Air Force after high school, but played at his hometown college of Valdosta State in Georgia. He appeared in 46 games, including 10 as a freshman. But at 5-foot-9 Moore was overlooked by NFL scouts.Instead, he signed with New England as an undrafted rookie in May 2017 Will Harris Jersey , was released during September’s final cutdown and claimed by the Colts off waivers the next day — after a team scout convinced general manager Chris Ballard that Moore’s long arms made up for his lack of height. He made an immediate impression.Moore recorded 37 tackles in 16 games as a rookie. Last season, he won the starting job, led the team with three interceptions and finished fifth with 77 tackles. That was all Ballard and coach Frank Reich needed to see.“Kenny is the consummate pro,” Reich said. “It’s not only a high level of play, it’s the consistency of play that I really think he embodies. We saw his play-making ability last year on the ball, sack, blitzer, but just really the way he brings that energy every day out at practice. And in the community, he’s a leader.”Moore could’ve become a restricted free agent in March , but apparently Ballard didn’t want to take the risk.So he stuck to his philosophy of re-signing Colts players’ first, even after using a second-round draft pick on cornerback Rock Ya-Sin in April. Ballard has given three players — Moore, punter Rigoberto Sanchez and long snapper Luke Rhodes — contract extensions during the last week.“He has made it clear that those three guys are what being a Colt is all about,” Reich said. “I’m so excited for them. I think that sends the right message. Those are the kinds of guys you want around for the long term.”Keeping Moore should give the secondary some long-term continuity.Pierre Desir, the other starting cornerback, signed a three-year deal in March, Ya-Sin already has signed his three-year rookie contract and Moore has his big deal, too.“Along the process, I grew a passion for (football) , I grew a love for it,” he said. “I learned how to believe in myself, to trust myself, in my own ability.” Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny injured his hamstring in Friday’s practice. That prompted the team to add him to their status report as questionable for Sunday against the Saints.C.J. Prosise likely would see more work if Penny can’t go.The team also made cornerback Tre Flowers a late addition, listing him as questionable after he injured his ankle at Thursday’s practice. Jamar Taylor or Akeem King would start for Flowers. The Seahawks also list free safety Tedric Thompson (hamstring) as questionable. He missed last week’s game with his injury.Offensive lineman Ethan Pocic (neck) and cornerback Neiko Thorpe (hamstring) are doubtful.Ziggy Ansah is ready to make his debut, and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said he expects the defensive end to get “a bunch of plays in this game.”Defensive tackle Poona Ford and receiver David Moore also exited the injury report.

Charles Darnell Savage Jr. Jersey , the running back who said in October that he was “probably” retired, will make it official after signing a one-day contract with the Chiefs, according to 610 Sports Radio.Last year Charles played in just two games, for the Jaguars, and totaled seven yards on six carries. So it’s probably safe to say he’s done whether he wanted to keep playing or not.Charles will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2024 , and he has already started making the case for why he thinks he should get in. Charles averaged 5.38 yards per carry over his career, the best for any running back in NFL history, and that record will get him some Hall of Fame consideration. Charles is also, along with Jim Brown and Barry Sanders, one of just three players in NFL history to have five seasons with at least 1 Jace Sternberger Jersey ,000 rushing yards and 5.0 yards per carry.Unfortunately, Charles only had five good seasons in his career; in his other six seasons he never even reached 400 rushing yards. Five seasons will probably not be enough to get him in Canton, as spectacular as those five seasons were. Stardom in sports is always a very tricky thing. Trying to handle someone’s legacy can be complex given their personal issues or other stuff. Pete Rose, by all rights, should be in the Hall of Fame with his numbers but he has been kept out of the hall for obvious reasons. The NFL is much the same as many a player can have personal issues overwhelming how much good they did on the field. There’s also the brutal truth that some stars may not be able to handle the game as we know it today. Things change every decade with rules and new styles of play so a figure who dominated in the '70s , '80s or even ‘90s may not be as effective today. With so many infractions occurring on defensive players, fans have to wonder if some of the hard hitting safeties or pass rushers of the past would still be considered superstars in today's game. Also, how many true workhorse running backs would last in today's league, one where backs are expected to contribute in the passing game as well? But some guys have a special aura to them that indicates that, no matter the time Josh Allen Jersey , they would always be stars. Some are just blessed with that special extra something that separates the great from the elite. No matter what era they played in, they would be stars all the same, championships and all. True, some may struggle but others would always maintain a skill no one else could touch no matter what. Here are 10 NFL legends who would still be superstars today and 10 who would struggle to show how vastly different the league has become but stardom never truly changes.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Joe Haden saw the ball floating toward him Parris Campbell Jersey ,  stretched out every inch of his 5-foot-11 frame and hoped for the best. For once, the first time in a while, the best actually happened for the erratic Pittsburgh Steelers defense.Haden’s leaping fourth-quarter interception — one in which he outjumped both Gronkowski and New England teammate Julian Edelman then somehow kept both feet inbounds despite getting crunched to the Heinz Field turf — and the ensuing cathartic celebration not only served as a critical turning point in a 17-10 victory , but appeared to restore the swagger to a unit badly in need of some following a three-game losing streak.“We were just trying to figure out a way to get turnovers,” Haden said. “We’ve been letting the team down a little bit in the fourth quarter. Having a lead and things like that. So we’ve been talking about turnovers. I feel like being able to get that one was big for us.”The pick was just the fifth by the Steelers in 14 meetings against New England quarterback Tom Brady and their seventh of the season. It was also the kind of momentum-halting stop Pittsburgh was unable to get during its recent slide, games in which the Steelers led after halftime only to have it slip away, something that wasn’t lost on Haden.“Having that three-game losing streak, we weren’t really stopping anything in the second half of games ,” Haden said. “We really talked about that and trying to make it right before the playoffs.”The postseason is still far from a certainty for Pittsburgh (8-5-1), which holds a half-game lead over Baltimore in the AFC North with two weeks remaining. Yet there were promising signs the defense may have figured something out.Gronkowski, who had dominated the Steelers throughout his career, was held to just two receptions for 21 yards. And while Brady threw for 279 yards, 63 of them came on a busted coverage by the Steelers on New England’s fourth offensive snap and another 63 came during New England’s last-ditch drive with Pittsburgh in something akin to a prevent defense. When the Patriots neared the Pittsburgh goal line, the Steelers forced four straight incompletions to earn their first victory over the Patriots since 2011.In between New England’s first possession and its last, Brady managed just 144 yards through the air and the Patriots mustered a single Stephen Gostkowski field goal. Brady allowed the Steelers mixed up coverages in ways it had not in previous meetings, though that’s hardly atypical.“I thought they played good,” Brady said. “They made some plays. We certainly had some opportunity out there and I give them credit Khari Willis Jersey , because they made important plays when they needed too.”All the way to the final snap. Brady’s fourth-down heave to the end zone intended for Edelman was knocked down by safety Morgan Burnett, who has endured an uneven first season with the Steelers.Signed as a free agent in the offseason to help provide veteran leadership to a largely young group, Burnett has spent most of it on the sideline because of various injuries. He certainly appeared to be just fine, however, when he spiked Brady’s 36th and final pass attempt.“You knew what was going to happen at that point of the game,” Burnett said. “No timeouts. Fourth down. You knew they were going to take a shot toward the goal posts. At that point you are just thinking ‘Get the ball on the ground.’ If you don’t catch it, just get it on the ground so they don’t catch it in the end zone.”Sounds simple, but it hasn’t been for the Steelers of late. The Los Angeles Chargers roared back from a 16-point halftime deficit at Heinz Field on Dec. 2 thanks in part to Pittsburgh’s inability to make the plays that were there for the taking. Haden and Sean Davis collided while trying to pick off Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers in the end zone.Instead, the ball popped into the air and settled into the arms of Los Angeles wide receiver Keenan Allen and the comeback was on.Two weeks later and with their season possibly on the line Josh Allen Jersey , the Steelers didn’t let another opportunity to make a statement get away.“I think it’s a confidence booster moving forward,” said linebacker T.J. Watt, who recorded Pittsburgh’s lone sack of Brady. “I think we need to build off this performance.” As the Vikings try to figure out what the future will hold for veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph, the performance of the team’s young tight ends will become a major factor in the final analysis. So far, the team’s young tight ends are looking good.Via Ben Goessling of the , rookie second-round tight end Irv Smith Jr. “lined up all over the field” in Wednesday’s OTA session, at one point beating cornerback Trae Waynes down the sideline. The team’s 2018 fifth-round draft pick also looked good.“I thought Tyler Conklin looked really impressive, just routes on air in the red zone,? quarterback Kirk Cousins said , via Goessling. “Our defense did a really good job today of covering routes in the red zone, so it didn’t really give us an opportunity for them to shine.”Smith brings an interesting (and for Vikings fans depressing) family connection to Minnesota. As recently explained by Chris Tomasson of the , Smith’s uncle (Ed Smith) played for the 1998 Falcons, which beat the 16-1 Vikings in the NFC Championship. Irv Smith’s father was in the stands for the game. The next time Irv Smith Sr. takes in a game in Minnesota, he’ll presumably be rooting for the home team.
