LANDOVER Josh Doctson Jersey , Md. (AP) —  maybe all the way to the end zone.Instead, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback stiff-armed Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman to put an exclamation point on his longest run of the game. Prescott spent Sunday afternoon carving up the Redskins’ defense with his arms and legs to the tune of 26 of 30 passing for 269 yards and three touchdowns and 69 yards rushing in a 31-21 Cowboys victory to improve to 2-0.“If Dak could run the ball well and he can pass the ball well like he showed today, how can you prepare for us?” wide receiver Amari Cooper said. “We as a team can run the ball well and pass the ball well. It’s hard to prepare for that.”Article continues below ...A week after putting up a perfect 158.3 QB rating, Prescott responded from an interception to lead Dallas on consecutive touchdown drives of 97, 83 and 75 yards. At one point, he completed 18 consecutive passes and wondered the last time he had an incompletion.“It’s just about being in the groove, offense working together,” said Prescott, who became the first Cowboys quarterback to compile seven touchdown passes in the first two games of the season since Don Meredith in 1966. “The run game was happening, we were able to throw the ball, receivers were making great catches and you just look up and it’s like that.”On the verge of a contract extension that’s expected to guarantee him over $30 million, Prescott connected with three receivers on the touchdowns: Devin Smith , Jason Witten and Cooper. Less than two weeks removed from ending his holdout and agreeing to a $90 million, six-year deal, Ezekiel Elliott had his workload increased to 23 carries for 111 yards and ran for a touchdown.“It felt good Sean Taylor Jersey ,” Elliott said. “That’s my normal workload. I’m used to that. It definitely does feel good to be back out there.”It was a game that felt like it was being played deep in the heart of Texas — an entire side of the lower bowl was full of blue and white Cowboys jerseys, who just about outnumbered Redskins fans. Sounds of “Coop” filled the stadium after Cooper’s catches, and there was a loud “DE-FENSE” chant when Washington had the ball. The Redskins (0-2) got a rushing touchdown from Adrian Peterson and passing TDs from Case Keenum to Paul Richardson and rookie Terry McLaurin. But their banged-up defense playing without two starters struggled to contain Prescott or cover his receivers.“There are no excuses to be had,” coach Jay Gruden said. “We’ve got to look at ourselves, and we’ve got to play better. We’re minus a couple of pieces in the secondary. That adds an issue. But really, we should be better than this.”Prescott hasn’t had a stretch as good as this in his NFL career, which comes at a perfect juncture amid contract negotiations.“I have no hesitation about it,” owner Jerry Jones said. “I’m very comfortable. He’s very comfortable.”OLD-GUY HISTORYWith his 2-yard score late in the second quarter, Witten became the fifth tight end in NFL history with 70-plus touchdown catches. The 37-year-old has two this season after coming out of retirement.Peterson rushed for his 107th career touchdown, breaking a tie with Hall of Famer Jim Brown for fifth on the all-time list. Peterson started for Washington in place of injured running back Derrius Guice a week after being inactive.PENALTIES GALOREThe teams combined for seven holding penalties in the first half alone. By the time all was said and done, Dallas had eight accepted penalties for 67 yards and Washington had six for 44 yards.INJURIESCowboys: Lost DE Antwaun Woods in the second quarter with a left knee injury. …DE Tyrone Crawford played through a nagging hip injury. … WR Tavon Austin was out with a concussion.Redskins: S Montae Nicholson left briefly with a foot injury that appeared to bother him even after he returned. … TE Vernon Davis missed a handful of plays with an eye injury. … Played without TE Jordan Reed (concussion), DL Jonathan Allen (knee), CB Quinton Dunbar (knee) and CB Fabian Moreau (ankle).UP NEXTCowboys: host the winless Miami Dolphins on Sunday.Redskins: host the Chicago Bears on Monday, Sept. 23. Drew Rosenhaus Franco Harris Jersey , the agent for free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown, says multiple teams remain interested in his client.  not playing football again is a bit premature.Rosenhaus joined Warren Sapp’s “99 Problems” podcast and discussed the situation regarding Brown’s status following his release from the New England Patriots. While Brown tweeted earlier this week he was done with the NFL because he believes he’s been wronged to the tune of a lost $40 million stemming from his release from the Oakland Raiders and Patriots, Rosenhaus said he believes Brown still wants to play football and he’s working to make that happen.“Because of the pending investigation by the NFL, I can’t say much more than what I have. It’s of course unfortunate that Antonio was released by the Patriots. We wanted very much to make that work, but we’re moving on,” Rosenhaus said. “I believe that Antonio wants to continue his career in the NFL and I’ve mentioned that. I have had discussions with a few teams that are very interested in him and want to know about his future and what’s going on with the NFL. Hopefully, when that is all resolved, Antonio will be able to continue his Hall of Fame career. That’s really where our focus is.”Brown has had a pair of sexual complaints lodged against him and the NFL met with one of the individuals involved. Brown allegedly texted threatening and intimidating messages to her that served as the precursor to his release from the Patriots. Brown is now taking classes from Central Michigan University as he attempts to finish his degree in the interim.“I know there’s been a lot of speculation as to whether or not that means he’s not going to proceed with the NFL but taking online college courses to get your degree or your post-graduate degree is something that I would recommend to every client. I wouldn’t read too much into that,” Rosenhaus said. “Obviously Donnie Shell Jersey , it’s a very difficult time for him not playing. We expected him to be playing against the Jets on Sunday. So it’s tough. It’s tough for someone who loves the game not to be playing right now and the hope is that we will cooperate with the NFL and their investigation and get him back with a team to continue this tremendous career that he’s had.”While Rosenhaus didn’t specify the teams with supposed interest or the number of teams with said interest, three teams had interest in Brown as of last weekend. It would seem that interest is going to be contingent on the outcome of the NFL’s investigation and the findings against Brown ultimately reveal. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes awoke early on Tuesday to open presents with his little sister and the rest of his family, then the Chiefs quarterback hopped in his car for a quick trip to Arrowhead Stadium.Where he watched film. On Christmas. He got in his usual couple of hours of game-week prep on what is typically a day off for NFL teams, then hopped back in his car and headed home for the family feast. Then he watched more film. Still on Christmas. It’s that dedication to Mahomes’ craft that has helped the second-year pro become an MVP candidate as a first-time starter. He already has shattered numerous franchise records, including yards passing and TD passes in a single season, and Mahomes has positioned Kansas City for a third straight AFC West title and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a victory Sunday over Oakland. The biggest wild card for the Chiefs entering the season has become their one constant.“It’s the process. You set up the schedule for a reason,” Mahomes said Wednesday, when the rest of the Chiefs returned to practice.“You follow the same schedule — game plan, watch film Rod Woodson Jersey , practice — and you do the same things you’ve been doing to have success.”At this point, why would Mahomes deviate from his routine? He’s thrown 48 touchdown passes to lead the NFL by a dozen, and his 4,816 yards passing trail only Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He leads the league in yards per attempt among QBs that have started all season, and only the Saints’ Drew Brees has a better quarterback rating.Speaking of ratings, Mahomes only has had three games in which his rating has failed to reach 100, and the Chiefs still won all of those games. He’s thrown a TD pass in every game except one, and that was a 30-14 rout of Jacksonville. And he’s thrown at least three touchdown passes in 10 games, with a pair of six-touchdown efforts in shootouts against the Patriots and Rams.“You just trust the process,” Mahomes said in explaining his unflappable nature. “Trust that your teammates are going to make the big plays they’ve made all year Mike Wagner Jersey , and trust in my ability not to do too much. You just play the same game you’ve played all year.”Or the same game he’s played his whole life.Few were convinced that Mahomes would seamlessly transition from the Air Raid system of Texas Tech to the versatile, complex West Coast offense of Andy Reid. But the Chiefs coach saw enough of him last season in practice that Reid was willing to trade away Alex Smith and give him a shot. Now, the Chiefs are promoting Mahomes in MVP hype videos as they barrel toward the playoffs.“I am happy for all these guys, whatever accolades they get,” Reid said. “Patrick has worked hard for all of that stuff. There are a lot of great players in this league, so all the sudden you get pointed out as doing that, it’s important. Then it’s important to get back to what is real and that’s the game. But I am happy for him. A lot of work went into that for him.”Right, the game. The one that Mahomes was in the film room prepping for on Christmas, while the rest of his family was relaxing at home. The Chiefs have already squandered two chances to lock up the division title, and they could fall all the way to the No. 5 seed with a loss Sunday. So it makes sense that Mahomes was cramming for the Raiders on Tuesday.Even if it didn’t mean straying from the norm.“Everybody is excited for the opportunity Rocky Bleier Jersey ,” Mahomes said, “getting to play a division opponent, a rival in our division, then get to play at Arrowhead Stadium. We want to stay here from here on out. If we come out and play like we know we can, we can make a run at this thing.”Notes: RG Laurent Duvernay-Tardif returned to practice for the first time since breaking his fibula and tearing ligaments in Week 5 against Jacksonville. It begins a three-week window in which Duvernay-Tardif can get up to speed. “We’ll just bring him back gradually,” Reid said. “It’s just a matter of getting caught up with the speed of the game.” … Reid said WR Sammy Watkins was out of a walking boot and “moving around,” though his return remains uncertain. He hasn’t played a full game since early November.

ALAMEDA Marshawn Lynch Jersey , Calif. (AP) —  Lee has no plans to apologize for his scuffle last week with Los Angeles Chargers tight end Antonio Gates late in the fourth quarter. If anything, Lee is adamant he did the right thing even though it resulted in a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty and a quick admonishment from Raiders coach Jon Gruden.“He just told me I’m better than that,” Lee said. “I was defending myself. Guy had my helmet. I don’t care who you are, you’re not going to chump me or punk me. I’m a grown man, too. Coach Gruden was just like, ‘Keep your cool. You’re better than that.'”A fifth-round pick in 2017, Lee is proving to be better than many people thought. His dust-up with Gates was one of the few signs that Oakland’s defense still had some fight in it during the 26-10 loss that dropped the Raiders to 1-4.Lee has taken quickly to defensive coordinator Paul Guenther’s system and played well enough over the first month of the season to unseat 14-year veteran and four-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker Derrick Johnson as the team’s starter.Heading into Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks in London, Lee is third on the Raiders in tackles behind linebacker Tahir Whitehead and safety Marcus Gilchrist.“He’s done some good things,” Guenther said. “He’s progressing in the right direction. Obviously he is playing a lot now so we are counting on him.”It’s a stark contrast from a year ago when Lee had to be carted off the field with a right knee injury that sidelined him for two weeks. Already behind the learning curve at the time, the injury prevented Lee from making much of an impact and led to the Raiders signing NaVorro Bowman to play middle linebacker the rest of the season.Bowman wasn’t re-signed this past offseason but Oakland brought in Johnson, the former Kansas City Chiefs star, and penciled him into the starting lineup early in training camp.Johnson started the first game of the regular season and took the majority of reps in Week 2 before Lee forced a change with his consistent work in practice and games.“I noticed it a lot with my play,” Lee said. “Just not as much anxiety on myself, and not much panic. Playing calm, to be honest. Just seeing everything slower and making my plays when I need to.”The Raiders are 30th in total defense and have had a penchant for allowing big plays. Lee has made his share of mistakes, most notably blitzing against the Chargers on a screen play when it wasn’t called for. The result: a 34-yard gain on a day full of breakdowns by Oakland’s defense.“The margin for error is small in this game,” Lee said. “I feel like we have a great sense of urgency, especially after last week’s loss, seeing the plays that we gave up and could have held onto to win the game.”The Raiders don’t seem to mind the growing pains with their young inside linebacker. Lee’s progress on defense while also playing extensively on special teams has been a positive in an otherwise disappointing start for the team.Lee’s challenge this week will be trying to contain Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.“We know that he’s a good scrambler and he makes plays in the open field,” Lee said. “We plan to keep him in the pocket and keep him corralled, not give him much room to run because that’s when he’s most dangerous, when he’s out of the pocket.”Notes: The Raiders held a brief and light practice Thursday before departing for London where they will play the Seahawks at Wembley Stadium. … Starting left guard Kelechi Osemele (knee) missed a third consecutive day of practice. Jon Feliciano has been practicing in Osemele’s place. Defensive tackle Frostee Rucker (neck) also sat out Thursday. The 14th edition of Hard Knocks got off to a slower start than Antonio Brown has in his first training camp with the Raiders.Rookie safety Johnathan Abram looks like he will become the star of the five-episode training camp reality show on HBO. He was featured more than any other player Tuesday.Abram brought $500 worth of snacks to camp, rode horses with fellow first-round choice Clelin Ferrell Jared Cook Jersey , was chastised by head coach Jon Gruden for being too aggressive in a non-padded practice and debated with Derek Carr about the pronunciation of “salmon.”But Brown’s feet quickly became the biggest storyline. co-host Chris Simms reported earlier Tuesday that Brown’s feet were frostbitten in a cryotherapy machine. Hard Knocks made no mention of what is medically wrong with Brown’s feet, saying only the star receiver “is hobbled by injuries to his feet.”Brown’s first appearance on the show is from Florida, working out with his personal trainer, Alex Whitehair. Whitehair tries to get Brown to dial it down in his workouts because of his healing feet. “I know you want to go,” Whitehair said. “I’ve got a lot of people around me that are depending on me to perform,” Brown explained after his workout. “This is my livelihood, being on my feet, being able to cut. They don’t want to hear any excuse. I’m new to the team. I’m, just like everyone else, fighting to make the team. So take a couple of days to get right. But fired up to show Raider Nation what I’m about.”Brown started training camp on the non-football injury list. He exited NFI, practiced for a few days, and then was unable to practice. He has seen a specialist. At one point late in the show, Gruden asked head athletic trainer H. Rod Martin about Brown’s availability. “He can’t handle the sharp cuts,” Martin said. The Raiders, like Whitehair, couldn’t get Brown to slow down despite his feet not being fully healed.“Can’t you just turn it up mentally and give the body a break here and just cool it?” Gruden asked Brown. Brown responded, “I’ve got to let these guys what they’ve got on the team. I’ve got to bring some juice.”Gruden wants his receiver back at full speed, because he brings “juice” to practice.“It’s good to see Antonio out here today, you know?” Gruden said in the episode. “When he practices, he elevates everybody. He elevates the defense, because they don’t want to look bad. And the receivers that are playing with him don’t want to look bad.”

Jones posted a video to his Instagram account saying that “it’s official that I’m done with the NFL.”Jones was a 2005 first-round pick of the Titans and made an immediate impact as both a cornerback and a returner. He also had a slew of off-field incidents Tramaine Brock Jersey , including involvement in a fight at a Las Vegas strip club that was followed by someone in Jones’ entourage returning to the club and opening fire. Three people were injured and Jones was charged with felonies before pleading no contest to conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct.Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as a result of the off-field troubles and returned with the Cowboys in 2008. He served another suspension during the season, didn’t play at all in 2009 and then joined the Bengals for the 2010 season. He dealt with injuries early in his time with the Bengals, but eventually found a consistent on-field role over eight seasons in Cincinnati and was voted to the All-Pro team as a return specialist in 2014. He ended his career by appearing seven games for the Broncos in 2018.Jones ends his career with 17 interceptions, five punt return touchdowns, two interception returns for touchdowns and a fumble return for a touchdown. The Denver Broncos started the game with a pick six and kept on scoring from there until the final was 45-10 on the road against the Arizona Cardinals. The team, and fans, needed a win like this. Something to show everyone that this team can be a complete team and dominate from start to finish. It proves that the defense can still be elite, getting back to the basics and giving up just 154 yards passing and 69 yards rushing. Smothering Jose Rosen to the tune of six sacks, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. Predictably, a good chunk of game balls are going the defenses way for this one.Von MillerVon Miller for the first time I can remember talked trash leading into a game. Take notice, NFL: Von Miller backs up his talk. He had a sublime game with 4 tackles, 2 sacks Jeff Heuerman Jersey , 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 4 quarterback hits. He was absolutely possessed with being a dominant force against an inferior opponent (regardless of what side he lined up against). He said post game he did this for his brothers and for Bronco fans. On behalf of Broncos Country, Thank you, Von. - SadaraineBradley ChubbAfter a relatively quiet first five weeks of his NFL career, Bradley Chubb just announced his presence to the entire NFL. Five sacks in two games with a beautiful forced fumble to top it off is about as good of a week as you can hope for as an edge rusher in the NFL. Chubb is emerging as the bookend pass rusher we needed to let Von be his best Von. Arizona had no answer for them tonight, and that’s exactly as it should be. - Taylor KotheEmmanuel SandersEmmanuel Sanders followed up last week’s costly taunting penalty with a game for the ages - throwing a 28-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton after a lateral from Case Keenum and then catching a 64-yard touchdown down the seam that he capped with a signature front flip into the end zone - making him the first wide receiver in team history (9th player overall) to throw, catch and run for a touchdown in the same season.Sanders, who finished his day 6 of 7 for 102 yards, became the fourth player in team history - first since John Elway versus Raiders (Sept. 7, 1986) - to catch and throw a touchdown in the same game. Safe to say that if Von is the fire for the defense, Sanders owns that role for the offense. - Laurie Lattimore-VolkmannGarett BollesGarett Bolles has had a rough go of it this season so far Ja’Wuan James Jersey , but tonight he played a clean game no penalties, and against a rusher in Chandler Jones who has been one of the best in the league at generating pressure in the backfield. It may not seem like a huge deal that a lineman didn’t get any penalties, but for the most penalized lineman in the league, that deserves a gameball. Make it two, Bolles. - Jeff EssaryTodd DavisThe Broncos middle linebacker played the best game of his NFL career on Thursday. Davis led the Broncos with 10 tackles, six solo and one for loss. He also had two passes defended and a pick-six (his first career interception and touchdown). More importantly, he showed that Denver does have middle linebackers and a rush defense. The fact the Broncos held Arizona to under 100 yards rushing is a small miracle after the last two games. - Ian St. ClairBrandon McManusBrandon McManus continues to kick well for the Broncos. Against the Cardinals he was perfect on all 6 of his extra points. His line field goal was good from 41, and he has clearly turned things around from his down year in 2017. McManus is McMoney. - Adam MalnatiPhillip LindsayPhillip Lindsay is a man possessed. Its as if he’s unlocked cheat codes on the field. Before his final 4 carries which he gained little to no yards as the Cardinals simply tried to stop the obvious, he was averaging almost 10 yards per carry with a touchdown! That’s ridiculous! Lindsay is carving out a starting spot on this team with more and more carries. Not only that, but the national media is forced to pay attention to him when he plays. Each time he touches the ball, all I ever do is just shake my head as to the magic that he performs and ask myself “why does he ever come off the field? Even for Freeman?” This cat is a true RB1. Don’t let his size pigeon hole him. He’s a baller and like he was in college, he just won’t be denied! - Pete BaronBradley RobyBradley Roby had a pretty bad couple of weeks DaeSean Hamilton Jersey , but he came into this game ready to make a statement. He played perfect technique, got his head turned and made some big time plays throughout this game. This was exactly the kind of game he needed to prove to himself that he can play at a high level after getting burned frequently in recent weeks. It was nice to see him rebound. - Tim LynchChris Harris Jr.There’s nothing more exciting on defense than big plays, and Chris Harris delivered in his 100th career start. His 53 yard pick six crushed the Cardinals’ spirits and pretty much sealed the game. The NFL’s worst offense was never coming back from 21-3. Harris is one of the best cornerbacks the Broncos have ever boasted. He’s the epitome of the idea that any player can excel, even dominate, by way of intensive discipline, study, and hard work. His pick six tonight is the highlight of the year so far for the Broncos’ secondary. Have yourself a day, Strap Harris! - Taylor KotheWho gets your game ball for this game?

EAST RUTHERFORD , N.J. (AP) —  with Joe Namath and only wished he had more time.At this rate, though, the youngster will have plenty more opportunities down the line.Darnold led the Jets on two touchdown drives, moving closer to securing the starting quarterback job in a 22-16 loss to the New York Giants on Friday night. That came after Darnold and the Jets’ other quarterbacks met briefly on the field with the man who has led the team to its only Super Bowl win — 50 seasons ago.“It was cool to meet ‘Broadway Joe,'” a smiling Darnold said. “And to know the history that he has with this franchise, it was awesome to get to meet him.”Jets fans are hoping Darnold might be able to someday have the same impact.Small steps first, of course. The No. 3 overall draft pick made his second consecutive start, finishing 8 of 16 for 86 yards — including a 12-yard touchdown pass to Terrelle Pryor.Darnold is competing with Teddy Bridgewater and Josh McCown for the Jets’ starting job, but the rookie is being given every chance to be under center when New York opens the regular season at Detroit on Sept. 10.“So far, I think I’ve been really consistent Julian Love Jersey ,” Darnold said. “At the same time, obviously there’s little things I can always get better at.”Bridgewater came in on the Jets’ second offensive possession of the second half, while McCown never played. Bridgewater was 11 of 15 for 104 yards.Darnold got off to a solid start, leading an 11-play, 75-yard drive on the Jets’ opening series that was capped by Bilal Powell’s 10-yard touchdown run.Darnold converted two third-and-long plays during the possession, first with a 13-yard completion to Neal Sterling. On third-and-13 from the Giants 35, Darnold showed off his scrambling ability by scooting to his left and zipping upfield for 14 yards.“It’s kind of what I’ve done my whole life, just play football,” Darnold said. “When something’s not there and I see a lane, take it. But also continue to secure the ball and not turn the ball over. And , if I can do those things and just continue to play football at the same time, I think I’ll be all right.”After Darnold’s 11-yard completion to Robby Anderson, Powell ran untouched into the end zone to give the Jets (1-2) an early 7-0 lead.“Any time you go down the field on your first drive and score a touchdown against a good defense, that’s a good thing,” coach Todd Bowles said. “For the most part, he did his job.”Darnold’s second series went nowhere, hurt in large part by a false start penalty on tight end Eric Tomlinson.Hunter Sharp took Lachlan Edwards‘ punt from 55 yards out and zig-zagged a bit on his way to the end zone to tie it at 7 with 3:52 left in the opening quarter.“The punt return was just the spark we needed,” Giants coach Pat Shurmur said. “It was a terrific run, well blocked.”JUST FOR KICKSAldrick Rosas kicked field goals of 48, 40 Quinnen Williams Jersey , 27 and 21 yards to give the Giants a 19-13 lead into halftime. The third field goal came after Trenton Cannon fumbled a kickoff when he was hit by Ray-Ray Armstrong, and Jerell Adams recovered for the Giants (2-1).STARTERSThe Giants’ starters played just the first two quarters, with Eli Manning going 17 of 23 for 188 yards in what was likely his final tuneup before the regular season. Sterling Shepard had seven catches for 78 yards.“I thought we did a couple of good things,” Manning said. “Obviously, we’d like to score more when we get into the red zone down there. I thought there were a lot of good things and we moved the ball pretty well.”The backups opened the second half to face the Jets, who left their starters on both sides of the ball in for much of the third quarter.BIG SWINGManning connected with Cody Latimer on a 54-yard pass on first down late in the first quarter to put the Giants at the Jets 6.Jonathan Stewart took the handoff on the next play and was met by Avery Williamson, who ripped the ball out of the running back’s hands. Leonard Williams scooped up the fumble and returned it 39 yards to the Giants 47.Four plays later, Darnold completed a 16-yard pass to Quincy Enunwa on third-and-6 from the 28. Darnold then found Pryor to give the Jets the lead 56 seconds into the second quarter.Taylor Bertolet made the extra point, but it was negated by Jonotthan Harrison’s false start — and Bertolet missed the re-kick.SITTING OUTGiants running back Saquon Barkley, taken a spot ahead of Darnold , returned to practice this week on a limited basis for the first time since suffering a mild hamstring strain nine days earlier but sat out.Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was a full participant in practice, but also didn’t play as he continues to work his way back after breaking his ankle last October.ANTHEMThere were no displays of protest by either the Jets or Giants, with both teams standing on the sideline for the anthem.SLOPPYThe Jets were called for 13 penalties, costing them 108 yards. The Giants were called for six for 50.“It felt like more than that,” Bowles said. “We can’t have that going into opening day.”INJURIESGiants: Starting TE Evan Engram left with 5:21 left in the second quarter with a concussion. He was sandwiched by Williamson and Darron Lee after catching a 6-yard pass at the Jets 24. The ball came loose at the end of the play and was ruled a fumble, but the call was overturned after a video review. … Backup TE Rhett Ellison left in the second quarter with an eye injury.Jets: CB Rashard Robinson left early in the fourth quarter with a hip injury. … WR Jermaine Kearse was held out with a sore abdomen.UP NEXTGiants: home vs. New England next Thursday night.Jets: at Philadelphia next Thursday night. Former Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks kicker Sebastian Janikowski is set to retire after an 18-year career.Janikowski spent 17 seasons with Oakland before kicking last season with Seattle after signing a one-year deal. Janikowski’s agent, Paul Healy, confirmed to The Associated Press on Monday that his client intends to retire. Janikowski, 41, told ESPN over the weekend he didn’t believe his body could handle kicking in the NFL anymore. The Raiders took Janikowski with the 17th overall pick in the 2000 draft out of Florida State. Nicknamed “Seabass Chuma Edoga Jersey ,” Janikowski converted 80.4% of his field goal attempts during his career, including a career long of 63 yards during the 2011 season, the only time he was selected for the Pro Bowl. The kick at the time matched the NFL record for longest field goal made.Janikowski was synonymous with the Raiders during his tenure in Oakland. He played in 268 regular-season games for the Raiders and made more than 30 field goals in three straight seasons from 2010-12, including a league-high 33 in 2010.Janikowski missed the entire 2017 season due to a back injury and his final season in Seattle was the first time he kicked anywhere other than Oakland. Janikowski had some conversations with the Chargers about kicking last season in Los Angeles, but he decided Seattle was the better opportunity. Janikowski was 22 of 27 on field goals in his one season with Seattle, but hit three game winners.Janikowski is 10th in career points scored with 1,913, ninth in career field goals made with 436 and 16th in career games with 284. He was a second-team AP All-Pro selection in 2011.

After the Jets beat the Cowboys last week , there was a thought maybe the Jets were ready to compete with the Patriots. Yeah, no.This is looking even worse than the Patriots’ 30-14 victory over the Jets in Week Three. The Patriots lead 24-0 early in the second quarter. Sam Darnold has two turnovers, and the Jets punted on their other possession. The Jets quarterback threw an interception on his first pass that Devin McCourty returned 6 yards to the Jets 12 to set up a 34-yard Mike Nugent field goal.On the Jets’ third drive, Darnold was hit by defensive end John Simon and fumbled. Kyle Van Noy recovered at the Jets 38, and nine plays later, Sony Michel was in the end zone for a 1-yard score.Michel also has a 3-yard touchdown run Jordan Scarlett Jersey , and Phillip Dorsett caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady. The Patriots have 187 yards to the Jets’ 20. Brady is 16-for-20 for 149 yards and a touchdown, while Darnold is 1-for-3 for 5 yards and the interception. Washington didn’t have many healthy quarterbacks on the roster leading into the draft. But they have a bunch of former quarterbacks on staff, and along with the injured ones, plenty of mentors for first-rounder Dwayne Haskins. That’s why team president Bruce Allen was so upbeat about the situation Haskins is walking into, during an appearance on ESPN.“We’re going to try and get every player acclimated immediately,” Allen said David Montgomery Jersey , via the . “We do have to start out fast this year. We open with the Philadelphia Eagles and we’re going to have our best lineup on the field. As far as Dwayne, we have a great system and a great environment to develop a quarterback. Our offensive coordinator [Kevin O’Connell], our quarterbacks coach [Tim Rattay], our senior assistant [Matt Cavanaugh] all played quarterback in the NFL. Our head coach [Jay Gruden] was a quarterback, and of course we have Doug Williams in the building.“We think we have the perfect environment to nurture a young quarterback. And don’t forget, the secret ingredient , maybe, for Patrick Mahomes was Alex Smith. We’re pleased to have Alex and this group to help mentor a quarterback.”Smith isn’t expected to play this year after a gruesome broken leg last year, so he’ll be available to give advice.Washington traded for Case Keenum, and Colt McCoy is coming off multiple surgeries for a less-severe broken leg of his own, leaving a reasonably clear lane for Haskins to compete for and perhaps win the starting job.

Jared Goff‘s contract before his fourth NFL season and some might think that waiting to see how Goff bounces back from his rough outing in the Super Bowl is tied to the team’s approach to his next deal.McVay didn’t say that was the case in March and he didn’t say it when asked if Goff needs to show he’s “the man” during a recent appearance on .“I think he’s already the man. I think he’s had a lot of moments Josh Oliver Jersey ,? McVay said. “His teammates believe in him, his coaches believe in him. I think it’s just continuing to do what you do at a higher level. It’s ‘Can I continue to make great decisions? Can I continue to make throws with accuracy and anticipation?’ I think the thing that was great about him really from the first year we were together to last year is the ownership. We talk about the quarterback being an extension of the coaching staff and I think he did that.”The Rams can exercise their option on Goff’s contract for 2020 before starting to deal with the prospect of the franchise tag or free agency. For whatever reason, they appear inclined to take a lot of that time before pushing for any new contract. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Arthur Smith has never called plays in the NFL. Not even in a preseason game, experience at least his predecessor had a year ago.So the Tennessee Titans‘ new offensive coordinator tests himself calling plays when watching TV copies of old games and at each step of the offseason program. That’s the approach he’ll follow through training camp and the preseason all building up to the season opener Sept. 8 in Cleveland.“So we’ll see how that is after Week 1,” Smith said Thursday.Smith replaces Matt LaFleur, hired in January as the Packers‘ new head coach. That hiring owed more to LaFleur’s experience as a coordinator with the Rams and coach Sean McVay than production with the Titans, who were one of the NFL’s worst offenses in 2018.Yes, Tennessee ranked seventh in the league running the ball with Derrick Henry piling up 625 of his 1 ,059 yards in December. But the Titans were 29th throwing the ball, and Mariota managed only 11 touchdown passes with eight interceptions. Only five teams scored fewer points than Tennessee’s 310 — an average of just 19.4 points per game.Vrabel promoted Smith from tight ends coach to coordinator, a coach who had been with this franchise the past eight years working for four different head coaches. Smith also spent two years with Washington with first Joe Gibbs, then Jim Zorn. This is his first time as an offensive coordinator for the man who played offensive line at North Carolina. So Smith said he studies TV copies of games for situations, including the end of a half or games for a better feel than a coach’s game film showing all 22 personnel on the field. He also hits pause to make his own calls. Yes, he knows there’s no pressure watching on a screen or live on the practice field.Vrabel used a similar approach a year ago preparing for his debut as head coach, watching TV copies of games to test what he might do. He’s working closely with Smith this offseason, the same way he is with Dean Pees who is 69 and has been to two Super Bowls with two different teams as a defensive coordinator.“If I do it with Dean, there’s probably a pretty good chance that I would do it with Arthur and every one of our coaches Ryquell Armstead Jersey ,” Vrabel said. “Just try to make sure that we’re all on the same page.”Easing Smith’s transition is Mariota, the quarterback who has been with Smith the past four seasons through coach Ken Whisenhunt, coach Mike Mularkey and his offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie and now Vrabel.“He makes it easy for us to go in there and to talk and to communicate what we like, what we don’t like and I think even out here … he’s done a great job of pushing the envelope with our guys and doing his best to get the most out of everyone,” Mariota said of Smith.Henry certainly approves.“I love Arthur,” Henry said. The Titans are keeping the same offense as last season, meaning formations and the phrases for motions remain unchanged. Smith made it very clear this offense will have some changes as he tweaks or adds plays from other schemes.“I’m not above stealing a great idea …,” Smith said. “But you’re just sitting here saying, ‘What is somebody doing that is a good idea? Does it fit what we’re doing? Does it fit some of our players?’ And we’re always looking at that as long as they give me the opportunity to be in this role.”NOTES: Pees spoke to reporters Thursday for the first time since deciding to return for another season. Pees dismissed any worries about his health , saying he was fine. Pees missed a loss at Indianapolis Nov. 18 when taken to a hospital, and Pees said he had an issue with a nerve in the back of his head causing symptoms similar to a stroke. … The Titans announced after practice that they have agreed to terms with guard Nate Davis, their third-round draft pick out of Charlotte. Receiver A.J. Brown out of Mississippi, taken in the second round, is the lone remaining unsigned draft pick.

ALLEN PARK Dexter Williams Jersey , Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions are not one of those teams. Coach Matt Patricia and quarterback Matthew Stafford were under pressure to show signs of progress in 2019, and so far they’re delivering.“There’s great teams every week, and things can go either way pretty quickly, but I think the group’s working really hard,” Patricia said. “I think they’re trying to do everything they can the right way. We’ve got a long way to go.”Stafford has put up big numbers at times in his career, but he’s been dogged by the team’s inability to beat top competition, especially on the road.So Sunday’s 27-24 win at Philadelphia resonates. Although the Eagles were short-handed because of injuries, they’re still less than two years removed from a Super Bowl title.Patricia took over the Lions before last season and the team went 6-10. It wasn’t a particularly great year for Stafford, and when Detroit blew a fourth-quarter lead in its 2019 opener at Arizona Rock Ya-Sin Jersey , settling for a tie, it was easy to envision another dreary campaign. The next three games were against the Chargers, Eagles and Chiefs, all playoff teams last season.Well, the Lions (2-0-1) have won the first two games of that stretch. They led 27-17 in the fourth quarter at Philadelphia before giving up a touchdown and having a field goal blocked. A couple of crucial penalties on the Eagles helped Detroit hold on.It was a shaky finish, but if the Lions can keep winning games such as that, it will go a long way toward winning over an understandably skeptical fanbase.A few words of caution: The previous time Detroit was unbeaten through three games was in 2011, when the Lions started 5-0 and looked poised for an extended stretch of success with Stafford, Calvin Johnson and Ndamukong Suh. Detroit ended up going 10-6 that season, lost its postseason opener and didn’t make the playoffs again until three years later. This year’s Lions have given up more yards than they’ve gained , and all three of their games could have gone either way.But they’ve put themselves in position to win, regardless of the competition.“These are very competitive people, very much so want to win and want to do the things the right way,” Patricia said Monday. “I think we truly believe that if we put the work in every single week, and we go out and approach it the right way that we should go out and be as competitive as we can be.”WHAT’S WORKINGDetroit has allowed only three sacks this season and they were all in Week 1. The offensive line hasn’t necessarily been dominant, but the Lions have done a decent job avoiding negative plays.WHAT NEEDS HELPThe running game still isn’t all that productive. Kerryon Johnson scored a touchdown but finished with only 36 yards on 20 carries Sunday.STOCK UPJamal Agnew was relieved of his punt returning duties the previous weekend, but he bounced back in a big way with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Eagles. He also had a 24-yard punt return.STOCK DOWNRookie tight end T.J. Hockenson had only one catch for 1 yard, and he has only two catches in the past two games following a stirring debut in the opener. The first-round draft pick clearly has potential, but it’s time to tap the breaks on talk of instant stardom.INJUREDA couple of key defensive players left Sunday’s game. Defensive tackle Mike Daniels (foot) left in the first quarter and didn’t return, and cornerback Darius Slay (hamstring) exited in the third quarter. Patricia had no updates on them.KEY NUMBER32 — Touchdown passes Stafford is on pace for this season. He has six already after posting only 21 a season ago.NEXT STEPSDetroit hosts Kansas City (3-0) this weekend in a matchup that surprisingly includes two unbeaten teams.Unlike the Chargers and Eagles , the Chiefs very much seem to be firing on all cylinders offensively and are living up to preseason expectations.“I wouldn’t look at it as a measuring stick,” Detroit defensive lineman Trey Flowers said. “It’s definitely a challenge that we’re willing to take — we’re willing to face great quarterbacks, great opponents.” The Patriots have issued a statement regarding the sexual assault and rape lawsuit filed against receiver Antonio Brown. And the statement says plenty about the NFL’s response to the situation.“We are aware of the civil lawsuit that was filed earlier today against Antonio Brown, as well as the response by Antonio’s representatives,” the Patriots said. “We take these allegations very seriously. Under no circumstance does this organization condone sexual violence or assault. The league has informed us that they will be investigating. We will have no further comment while that investigation takes place.”While the league has not responded to a request for comment from PFT, the team’s statement makes it clear that the NFL will exercise its prerogative to explore the matter. Because no criminal investigation is pending, the league need not wait to investigate. Because the plaintiff in the lawsuit, Britney Taylor, has expressed a willingness to cooperate with the NFL, the league should face no obstacles , given its inability to subpoena non-employees of the league or its teams.Depending on the information obtained, Brown could be placed on the Commissioner-Exempt list while the investigation proceeds. He also could be disciplined by the league even in the absence of an arrest or conviction. The statement also implies that the Patriots will be taking no action while the investigation proceeds. In 1996, the Patriots rescinded their rights to fifth-round draft pick Christian Peter based on a string of arrests while in college at Nebraska. Given that Brown has denied the allegations made against him, it’s impossible at this point to know whether he has any actual responsibility. If the league finds that Brown engaging in misconduct, the Patriots could choose to part ways with Brown.

TAMPA , Fla. (AP) —capable of helping quarterback Jameis Winston end the team’s long playoff drought.Tackle Vita Vea is the latest addition to a reconstructed unit that’s been a liability for most of the past decade, joining the Bucs as the 12th overall pick in the opening round of the NFL draft on Thursday night.General manager Jason Licht described the 6-foot-4, 347-pound Vea as a dominant run-stopper who has “freakish athleticism” for his size.“He’s going to help us in a lot of areas,” Licht said. “Great kid. … Very tough and loves football. We think he’s going to be a great fit here.”The former University of Washington standout will be plugged into a revamped defensive line anchored by six-time Pro Bowl tackle Gerald McCoy, bolstered by last month’s trade for pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul and the signing of Beau Allen, Vinny Curry and Mitch Unrein in free agency.“It’s really exciting,” Vea said by video link from Dallas Trace McSorley Jersey , where he attended the draft. “I took a visit there. I felt like I had a great connection with the coaches … I am happy to be in this situation.”The Bucs ranked last in the NFL with 23 sacks a year ago. Upgrading the defensive line and a porous secondary are among the top priorities after going 5-11 and missing the playoffs for the 10th consecutive season.Winston is entering his fourth season after being drafted No. 1 overall in 2015. The offense has improved dramatically since the young quarterback entered the league, however the defense has not been able to hold up its end.In addition to having an anemic pass rush, the Bucs finished 32nd in total defense at just over 378 yards per game and also allowed opponents to convert a league-high 48 percent of the time on third down.Licht has done some wheeling and dealing to bring in fresh talent, acquiring Pierre-Paul in a trade from the New York Giants and signing Allen and Curry in free agency after they helped Philadelphia win the Super Bowl in February.Vea, the 2017 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, was still available Thursday night after Tampa Bay traded the seventh overall pick to Buffalo, dropping five spots in the selection order while also receiving a pair of second-round picks in this year’s draft. The move ensured the Bills of getting the quarterback they wanted Ed Oliver Jersey , Wyoming’s Josh Allen, and gives the Bucs three premium picks — No. 38, 53 and 56 overall — in the second round Friday night. It also eases the sting of not having a third-round pick, which was sent to the Giants in the Pierre-Paul trade.“Obviously, we all really liked Vita’s tape, Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, extremely powerful man ,” coach Dirk Koetter said.“We talked to him at the (NFL) Combine, we brought him in on one of our 30 visits. We found out that he loves football, he’s a family man, he’s incredibly gifted athletically,” Koetter added. “We had him high on our board, and we were a The Dolphins have brought former Bengals running back Mark Walton to town for a tryout at rookie minicamp. So why are the Dolphins providing an opportunity to a player who faces pending criminal charges?“I think people deserve a second chance,” coach Brian Flores said Saturday Devin Singletary Jersey , via Joe Schad of the . “I believe that. I think that’s the case. I don’t want to judge people based on one incident. Two incidents. [: Three incidents.] I think it’s a case-by-case situation for a player and for people in general. That’s kind of my stance.”Of course, it’s not like the Dolphins have given Walton a job.“He’s here on a tryout,” Flores said. “Obviously, talented player. But we want to take a look at him and see if he was a fit for us, on the field and off the field. I think he’s done a good job, really in the one day that he’s been here. So we’ll see how it goes.”Flores said that the organization “discussed” Walton’s pending legal issues.“[A]gain, it’s a tryout ,” Flores said. “And just that’s kind of part of the process. Getting to know him. And getting to see him on and off the field.”That’s fair, but here’s the point to remember when it comes to second chances for NFL players. With a fixed number of jobs, every player who gets a second chance necessarily takes away someone else’s spot — quite possibly, someone who never did anything that would require a second chance. But talent continues to fuel NFL second chances. If a guy is good (and Walton was good enough to be a fourth-round pick in 2018), he gets a second chance. If a guy isn’t good, no second chance. So that’s the key addition to Flores’ stance. “I think people deserve a second chance . . . if they’re talented enough to deserve that second chance.”
