The 26-year-old Ireland striker, who has four goals this season, has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with his new club.Leading up to the NHL Trade Deadline in early April, Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis said he was in the market for a veteran goaltender to help out his young tandem of James Reimer and Ben Scrivens. Some of the names that were mentioned in speculation were Roberto Luongo and Miikka Kiprusoff. "Both our (current) goalies are aware of it, its not that we dont think that we have NHL-calibre goaltenders, or goalies with the ability to become very good starting goaltenders," Nonis said on TSN Drive with Dave Naylor on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto in February. "But if we could add someone to help them along, a veteran that would help them grow, then we would do it." But nothing could be worked out so Reimer was the man for the playoff stretch drive. Reimer finished the regular season with a record of 19-8-5 and helped the Leafs make the playoffs for the first time in nine years. Then, he came within a whisker of backstopping the Leafs to a Game 7 win over the Boston Bruins in their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series. He had a 2.88 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .923 in the series. So some would assume that Reimer had won enough trust of the Leafs organization to be named the starter next season. That is, until the team gave up Scrivens, forward Matt Frattin and a second round pick to acquire Jonathan Bernier from the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. The battle lines have now been drawn for the starting position. Or have they in your eyes? Is Jonathan Bernier an upgrade in net for the Leafs? The careers of the two goalies have a lot in common. Both were standouts in junior, both were drafted in 2006, both spent some time in the minors and now both are fighting for the starting job in Toronto. Reimer was drafted from the Red Deer Rebels in the fourth round, 99th overall and came up from the Toronto Marlies in 2010-11 after Jonas Gustavsson and Jean-Sebastien Giguere faltered. He jumped on the opportunity, going 20-10-5 with a 2.60 GAA and .921 save percentage. Last seeason, he missed 24 games due to injury and never really got on track. Joe Thornton Jersey. This season, he showed he can be a No. 1 goalie, albeit in a lockout-shortened 48-game season. Bernier comes to Toronto with a great deal of promise. Drafted 11th overall by the Kings, the Lewiston MAINEiacs product was expected to be the starter for many years to come. In 2009-10, he posted eye-popping numbers with the AHLs Manchester Monarchs, including a 2.03 GAA and a save percentage of 0.936. It would be his last season in the minors. Unfortunately for Bernier, Jonathan Quick was just emerging as an NHL standout at the same time, leaving the junior phenom on the bench in a backup role. While his talents are unquestioned, his experience remains lacking. The 24-year-old Bernier has played in 62 games as a backup over parts of four seasons while the 25-year-old Reimer has played in 104 games and one playoff series over his three years in the league, mostly as the starter. During his conference call on Sunday, Nonis made it clear that the starters role is up for grabs.  "Nothing is being guaranteed to anybody," said Nonis. "If Jonathan Bernier becomes a No. 1 goaltender because he plays better and stronger and Randy [Carlyle] feels more comfortable, then thats what happens. If James wont give up that net and hes the guy whos our starter, then thats fantastic, too."  Guests on The Mike Richards In The Morning Show on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto offered up their thoughts on Bernier. "Just go let him battle it out with James Reimer, make it a fair fight, see whos the starter but Ive got to think that Bernier is going to beat out Reimer," said Pierre McGuire of NBC Sports Network. "I think the Leafs paid a very fair, if under-priced value for what potentially could be a star goalie," said Steve Simmons of Sun Media. Theyve had their say, so now we want yours. Is Reimer still the Leafs starting goaltender? Or is Bernier the upgrade in net the Leafs have been looking for? Its Your! Call. Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Couture got his second of the game in San Joses 2-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night when a third period dump-in took an inexplicable bounce off the glass and landed on his stick. Couture made no mistake in front of the gaping net. "Ive gotten a couple of empty-net goals already this year," said a grinning Couture. "Ive been lucky." The Sharks were up 1-0 when veteran Patrick Marleau dumped the puck into the Canadiens zone. Carey Price, who had anticipated retrieving the puck behind his net, couldnt get back in time when it instead fell to Couture. "Its not the way you want to get scored on," said Price, who made 35 saves on the night. "Its the way it bounces sometimes. Theyre a good team. Thats what they do. Theyre a very structured team and they played a perfect road game today." Defender Josh Gorges was on the ice when the Sharks doubled their lead. Gorges unsuccessfully sprawled in front of Couture to stop the shot. "Obviously, its unfortunate that bounce, but when things like that happen we need to be able to respond the right way. We didnt get it going again after that," said Gorges. "You never expect something like. Youre never prepared for something like that. But those are the breaks in the game. Down 2-0, we still had a chance." But the Canadiens, who only took six shots on net in the third period, couldnt find an answer to Antti Niemis play. Niemi made 22 saves for his second shutout of the season and league-leading ninth win. The Finnish goaltender, whos played every game for the Sharks this year, is allowing an average of less than two goals a game, backed by a cool .933 save percentage. "When youre confident and when you can be patient, sometimes just wait for the puck to get to you, it gives you more time to react,&" said Niemi. Cheap nfl nike jerseys. "Im feeling like that right now." After a scoreless first period in which San Jose outshot Montreal 11-8, Couture scored his first of the game on the power-play at 6:20 of the second period. With the Montreal faithful calling for a tripping penalty on Couture, Joe Thornton sent a precise pass onto Coutures stick. The 24-year-old made no mistake from close range for his fifth goal of the year. Couture took defender Raphael Diaz out of the play right before the goal. There was no call on the play. "We thought that we could have had a few more power plays," said Montreal head coach Michel Therrien. "Thats the way it is. What are you going to do?" With the assist on the goal, Thornton inched ever closer to a milestone. The Sharks captain, who sits second in most assists amongst active players behind Jaromir Jagr, now needs two more assists to reach 800 in his career. The Habs lack of discipline almost cost them again later in the period when Couture rifled a shot past Price that hit the post. Montreal took four minor penalties on the night. The Sharks only took one. "We got ourselves into some penalty trouble," said captain Brian Gionta. "When were taking too many, its a good indication that were not in the game, or that our speed isnt there. "They were on us all night long. We couldnt seem to generate much. We have to do a better job." Notes: The injury-troubled Canadiens were without Daniel Briere (concussion), Max Pacioretty (hamstring), George Parros (concussion), and Brandon Prust (shoulder). ... LOS ANGELES, Calif. Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping . - Jonathan Quick saved his best save for the final minute, sliding deftly across his crease and snagging Joe Pavelskis shot from point-blank range to the grateful gasps of the Los Angeles Kings sellout crowd. Quicks imposing post-season presence only appears to be growing, and the San Jose Sharks are running out of time to figure him out. Quick made 24 saves in his seventh career playoff shutout, and the Kings moved to the brink of their second straight trip to the Western Conference finals with a 3-0 victory in Game 5 on Thursday night. Anze Kopitar and Slava Voynov scored, and Jeff Carter added an empty-net goal as the defending Stanley Cup champions won their 13th consecutive home game in dominant fashion, claiming a 3-2 series lead. Quick won his 27th post-season game, taking sole possession of the franchise record from Kelly Hrudey. The Conn Smythe Trophy winner shut out the Sharks for the second time in the series, yet Quick scoffed at any suggestion hes responsible for the Kings abrupt reversal of this series momentum after the Sharks appeared to take control in San Jose. "We came out with a purpose," said Quick, who has stopped 313 of 330 shots in the post-season. "We knew what was on the line tonight, and Im lucky to play with guys who care so much about winning. Top to bottom, I thought everybody played well, but its just three wins. We know that doesnt mean anything." Game 6 is Sunday night at the Shark Tank. Quick has three shutouts in this post-season alone, adding to his club record of seven playoff shutouts, yet nobody thought this latest zero was his best number of the post-season. The Sharks lamented their lacklustre effort, particularly from the star players whose dominance had allowed San Jose to even the series with two straight wins and three straight games of largely superior play. "They tested us for the first four games, and I like the way we responded," Kings defenceman Matt Greene said. Antti Niemi stopped 26 shots for the Sharks, who have played more than 96 minutes without a goal since they appeared to be taking control of the series midway through Game 4. "Weve got to score. Its the playoffs," Sharks forward Logan Couture said. "We had enough chances to win tonight, but we have to start bearing down and scoring some goals. We werent there at the start. I dont even think we were good at any point in this game tonight. Our power play was brutal." The home team has won every game in the series, and the Kings remained unbeaten at Staples Center since March 23. Los Angeles, 25-4-1 at home this season, has won seven straight home playoff games dating to last seasons Stanley Cup clincher against New Jersey. After getting soundly outplayed to start each of the past three games, the Kings met the Sharks tempo and urgency from the beginning in Game 5. The Kings sharpened their physical game, outmuscling and outhitting the Sharks from the opening faceoff. Kopitar finally collected a reward late in the second period, tapping in a loose puck after a sustained stretch of pressure on Niemi. Voynov then scored 3 seconds after a penalty expired early in the third, firing home his fourth goal in nine games. Quick finished up from there, stopping Pavelski a few seconds before Carter wrapped it up with an empty-netter. "We were going at them pretty hard, and got sustained pressure for long periods of time," said Kopitar, who got just his second goal of the post-season. "Theres nothing new to say about (Quick). He gives us a chance every night. He makes every save he should, and a few he shouldnt, every time." San Jose substantially outplayed the Kings in the first period of the past three games, and Los Angeles cited a strong start as its key priority for Game 5. The Kings got it, albeit in a scoreless first period, outshooting the Sharks 9-6 while playing a punishing physical game that slowed down Joe Thornton and hampered San Joses relentless speed. "The power play looked like it was a little bit nervous for some reason," Thornton said. "I dont know why. It looks like we just didnt have some poise on the power play. If our power play is going good, you can see guys get some confidence. When it doesnt, you see guys kind of get down, and thats what happened tonight." The Sharks played roughly 17 minutes without a shot into the second period, but the Kings couldnt cash in several scoring chances in front of Niemi, including golden opportunities for Mike Richards and Justin Williams. San Jose got several chances of its own, notably with a 2-on-1 break for Patrick Marleau and Couture, but Quick kept everything out of his net. Niemi made a spectacular save on Carters wraparound chance late in the second period, but that play led to a long stretch of uninterrupted pressure and the go-ahead goal. Kopitars tap-in included assists for Williams and Kyle Clifford, who replaced Dustin Brown on the Kopitar-Williams line for Game 5. The Kings hope a goal will jump-start Kopitar, who didnt score a goal in the Kings final 16 regular-season games. The Slovenian centre was the post-seasons co-scoring leader last summer with 20 points in 20 games. The Kings scored again when Trevor Lewis won a faceoff against Thornton, who has dominated the circle in the series. Lewis, who scored the winning power-play goal late in Game 2, got the puck to Voynov for a long shot through traffic immediately after a power play ended, and the Siberian defenceman matched Carter for the team lead at the time with his fourth goal of the playoffs. The power play resulted from a goalie interference penalty against TJ Galiardi, who drew the Kings ire Wednesday by claiming Quick embellishes contact with opponents to draw undeserved penalties. "Well, he got his call tonight, so Ive got to be better," Galiardi said. "Ive just got to know that if theres any contact at all, theyre going to call it. They made us pay right after the penalty expired, so thats on me." NOTES: After sitting out earlier in the post-season with an injured left ankle, Jason Demers got his first action of the post-season for San Jose, which sat LW Tim Kennedy to make room. Demers, normally a defenceman, usually played forward. The Sharks are playing without injured forwards Marty Havlat and Adam Burish. ... Los Angeles dressed the same lineup as in Game 4, although coach Darryl Sutter shuffled his lines. ... Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer watched the game from seats on the glass. Lohse beat the Cardinals in his fourth try this season and Sean Halton knocked in a career-high three runs to help the Milwaukee Brewers beat St. Louis 6-3 Tuesday night. "They made me work for it," he said after improving to 3-5 in nine outings overall against his former team. "I felt like I threw a lot of really good pitches and they kept battling them off, fouling them off, taking close ones." Lohse had his best major league season in 2012 when he went 16-3 with a 2.88 ERA in 33 starts with St. Louis. The Cardinals did not try to re-sign him and he became a free agent. Lohse said the win was just like any other even if it snapped a five-game losing streak against the Cardinals. "I dont put any more emphasis on any one game over the other," he said. "I went out there and tried to do what Id been doing." Lohse left after six innings with the Brewers leading 6-3. He earned his team-leading 17th quality start, including six in his last seven. He struck out four, walked two and allowed six hits and three runs, two coming on Yadier Molinas two-run homer in the fourth. Molina doubled and scored in the second on Matt Adams single. "Yadi hit a pretty pitch for a homer, but thats what he does," Lohse said. John Axford and Brandon Kintzler each pitched a scoreless inning, and Jim Henderson pitched the ninth for his 19th save in 22 chances. The Cardinals were ahead 3-0 when the Brewers fought back with a five-run fourth that put Lohse back in line for the victory. "The team did a great job battling back after I put us in a hole," he said. "Other than that, doesnt mean any more beating them." Lance Lynn (13-7) got roughed up in the fourth, highlighted by Haltons two-run single with the bases loaded. Milwaukees first six batters in the frame reached, loading the bases twice with no outs. Scooter Gennett drove in the first run with a single. After Aramis Ramirez singled and Khris Davis reached on Lynns fielding error, Halton drove them in with a line drive to centre that doubled his season RBI total. Logan Schafer followed with an RBI single and Norichika Aoki tacked on the last run with a sacrifice fly. Wholesale Jerseys Online. "We stacked together a bunch of hits (Monday), and they did the exact same thing," St. Louis manager Mike Matheny said. "It is just a matter of stopping it when it gets going. We did the same thing yesterday. We found holes and created a rally." Kolten Wong, who had his first two major league hits Monday night, continued getting on base for St. Louis. He went 3 for 5 with two singles and a double. The teams No. 1. pick in the 2011 draft joined the Cardinals from Triple-A Memphis Friday night in Chicago. "It was just one of those innings where things are dropping, not going our way," he said. "Unfortunately, they scored a majority of their runs in that inning." Halton set a career mark in the fifth with his third RBI of the game. Davis singled, stole second and scored on Haltons grounder into centre. Carlos Beltran singled and scored on Molinas 10th home run of the season. Adams beat the Brewers defensive shift in the second inning and knocked in Molina with the Cardinals first run. Adams blooped a single over the head of shortstop Jean Segura, positioned on the right side of second base. Molina was on with a double over the head of centre fielder Schafer. The ball flicked off Schafers glove and rolled to the wall. The Brewers have almost no chance at the playoffs and are resigned to playing the role of spoiler. "I know we have a stretch here where were playing a lot of teams that are contending for playoff spots," Lohse said. "I dont care who it is. Feels good to kind of hurt teams chances." NOTES: Brewers 1B Juan Francisco got the game off. Hes struck out four times in consecutive games. NEW YORK -- Jason Collins dealt with the ticket requests, handled the media responsibilities, then moved on to what he most wants to do in the NBA. Larry Murphy Jersey . "Win basketball games," Collins said. He will get at least a few more chances. Collins played the final minutes of a winning home debut with the Brooklyn Nets, who cooled off the Chicago Bulls with a 96-80 victory Monday night. Finally playing at Barclays Center more than a week after returning to the NBA as the leagues first openly gay player, Collins checked in to a standing ovation from a sellout crowd of 17,732 that included former commissioner David Stern with 2:41 remaining. He committed a foul five seconds later, missed his only shot, grabbed a rebound and had one of the Nets NBA season high-tying 19 steals in their third straight victory. "It was cool. It was a lot of fun to go into the game," Collins said. "The most important thing was that we got the win. Chicagos been playing really well as of late and for us to come out and really be -- I think we played more physical than they did tonight." His first home game wont be his last, because the Nets plan to sign Collins to a second 10-day contract, a person with knowledge of the situation said. Collins signed his original deal on Feb. 23 and it expires Tuesday. The Nets then will re-sign him for another 10 days on Wednesday, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the plans havent been made public. After that expires, the Nets would have to sign him for the rest of the season if they wanted to keep him. Collins sat at the end of the bench for most of the game while the Nets built a series of comfortable leads, making the only intrigue down the stretch whether the 12-year veteran would get in during his first home appearance for the Nets since Jan. 29, 2008, against Milwaukee in East Rutherford, N.J. A chant of "Jason Collins! Jason Collins!" broke out while Deron Williams was shooting a free throw with the Nets leading 90-73 with 3:27 remaining. Fans finally got their wish less than a minute later -- though not because coach Jason Kidd was listening to them. "No, the game was out of hand, so I wanted to get those guys some rest," Kidd said. "D-Will was shooting free throws. Couldnt put Twin in at that time, so I told him after the free throws that he would come in." Collins said before the game that he wasnt aware of any second contract, leaving those details up to his agent. Kidd said those discussions were between management and Collins agent, but said his former teammate has been "great, on and off the court." "Twin is a good friend of mine and hes a basketball player, but hes a great person and so thats why we wanted him on this team and we felt he could help us win," Kidd said, referring to Collins by the nickname he had during his original stint with the Nets from 2001-08. The Nets still practice in New Jersey even after moving to Brooklyn before last season, so thats where Collins was Sunday after the Nets got back from their road trip that ended Saturday night in Milwaukee. He spent part of the day shopping at Costco, wisely stocking up since hell be sticking around. "Its kind of funny. Yesterday on my day off Im driving around Jersey on Route 17 and bringing back a lot of memories from when I was here before," Collins said. Hes much more famous now after revealing he was gay in a Sports Illustrated article last April. He had been out of the NBA from then until signing with the Nets. Collins said he had plenty of ticket requests from family and friends for Mondays game, and also saw a number of familiar faces from the old days. The pregame news conference and the overall media attention are new, and Collins believes it wont last, but understands that for now his sexuality makes him a big story. "Over time it will go down, but as far as doing interviews and talking about it, Im getting comfortable with the microphone or the camera on me," he said. Hes more comfortable on the court, even in the limited minutes he gets. Finally finished with his lengthy list of pregame obligations, he was looking forward to helping the Nets in whatever way he could. "Now that thats all settled, Ill go out there and just try to focus as much as I can on the game," Collins said. Custom Penguins Jersey . Its quite a change from a large chunk of the disappointing year. Danks hit a clutch two-run single in Chicagos three-run eighth inning, leading the White Sox to a 4-3 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night. Danks finished with a career-high three hits as the White Sox won for the ninth time in 11 games, bouncing back from a difficult loss in the series opener. Paul Konerko, Alexei Ramirez and Avisail Garcia had two hits apiece. "Its a lot of fun. It kind of reminds you of last year and how fun that was," said Danks, who extended his hitting streak to nine games. "Even though we didnt pull that out in the end it was a lot more loose and this is how we know how to play. "Obviously we havent done it the whole year but we know this is how we can play and were very excited about it." Matt Dominguez had three hits and two RBIs for the Astros, who had won three of four. Dominguez and Chris Carter hit consecutive two-out homers off closer Addison Reed to give Houston a 10-8 victory on Monday night. The Astros appeared to be headed to their second straight win over the White Sox before the rally in the eighth. With two outs and runners on first and second, Konerko singled in Jeff Keppinger to cut Houstons lead to 3-2. Garcias infield hit then loaded the bases for Danks, who put the White Sox in front with a single to centre off Erik Bedard (3-10). Reed then came in and worked the ninth for his 36th save in 41 tries. Robbie Grossman had a two-out double for his third hit, but Reed got L.J. Hoes to bounce out to shortstop to end the game. Donnie Veal (2-3) got one out for the win. "Winning is fun. I mean, any time were winning were having a good time," Reed said. "Things have been good around here lately." White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana allowed three runs and eight hits over 7 2-3 innings in his 16th no-decision, tops in the majors. "I felt great the past three starts," Quintana said through a translator. "The only thing I concentrate on is giving the team the opportunity to win and battling. And thats what weve been doing -- battling and fighting. Bryan Trottier Jersey. . I cant be happier to do that." Dominguez had an RBI double in the fourth and a run-scoring single in the sixth. Carter hit an RBI single off Jake Petricka in the eighth, making it 3-1. But Bedard, who was making his third relief appearance in 26 games this season, couldnt hold onto the lead. "I was actually trying to get him to go ahead and finish it," manager Bo Porter said. "Hes built up, hes been starting all year. And you look at where were with their lineup, with the number of lefties in it. Hes able to get lefties and righties out, you feel pretty good that Erik Bedard had the ball in that situation." Paul Clemens pitched six sharp innings for Houston in his first career start. The right-hander, who was recalled Tuesday from Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowed one run and four hits and was in line for the win. Clemens made his first 30 appearances of his rookie year out of the bullpen, compiling a 4-4 record and 6.36 ERA. Porter said Clemens will remain in the rotation for the rest of the season. "Its an honour, its a privilege," Clemens said. "Just got to continue to work." Thats what the White Sox are doing, albeit well too late to save their season. They managed to get back on track after a sloppy performance in the series opener. "It was different from last night," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "I think defensively and just decision-making was better tonight." NOTES: Grossman singled in the first to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. . INF Leury Garcia, acquired from Texas in the Alex Rios trade, made his first start for the White Sox, batting ninth and playing second base. Ventura said Garcia, who went 0 for 3, likely will start Wednesday at shortstop, giving Ramirez his first day off of the season. ... To make room for Clemens, the Astros optioned RHP David Martinez to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Martinez, who was 1-0 with a 5.86 ERA, pitched 2 2-3 innings for Mondays win. Porter said Martinez will return after the Triple-A playoffs. . Wednesdays pitching matchup is Houstons Jarred Cosart (1-1, 1.60 ERA) against Chris Sale (9-12, 3.08 ERA). Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '

LATROBE, Pa. Authentic Customized Tampa Bay Lightning Jerseys . -- At 5-foot-7, LaRod Stephens-Howling doesnt feel out of place during some of the Pittsburgh Steelers more size-oriented training camp drills. The running back has held his own during short-yardage and goal-line exercises and has looked right at home in "backs-on-backers" protection drills. It has helped that playing for the Steelers has made Stephens-Howling feel like hes home -- even if he didnt join the team until just this past off-season. A western Pennsylvania native who played at Pitt, Stephens-Howling is awash in familiarity during his first season with Pittsburgh. His hometown of Johnstown is about 45 minutes from the training camp site at St. Vincent College, and Stephens-Howling shared a practice facility with the Steelers while in college at Pitt. Even his new home stadium, Heinz Field, also is his old home stadium. Pitt and the Steelers share the venue. "Its a great feeling -- a homecoming feeling," Stephens-Howling said between workouts Saturday. "But after all that excitement gets out of the way, were still at training camp and were working hard to get a job on the 53. It doesnt matter where youre at, thats it." Stephens-Howlings roster spot would appear to be safe, even in a crowded backfield. A fifth-year pro, he was brought in to compete for third-down back and kick returning roles. Both are tasks he showed a proficiency for over four season (57 career games) with the Arizona Cardinals. A seventh-round pick in 2009, Stephens-Howling has amassed 4,067 yards and three touchdowns in the kick return game over his career in addition to seven touchdowns off plays from scrimmage. "Hes definitely given us some versatility," said Isaac Redman, who broke last seasons camp as the starting running back. "He can catch, and hes pretty quick. When you get him out in space hes hard to tackle. Youre not going to catch him from behind." Speed has always been the hallmark for Stephens-Howling, who led Pitt in rushing his freshman and sophomore seasons but backed up future NFL All-Pro LeSean McCoy late in his college career. Pure speed is what has made him such an attractive option as a returner. On offence, while lack of size has shied NFL teams away from considering Stephens-Howling as an every-down runner, an ability to catch balls out of the backfield helps make him an ideal third-down back. Lacking prototypical options at both kick returner and third-down back after last years 8-8 season, the Steelers signed Stephens-Howling as a free agent in April. "When I visited the Steelers, they talked about the opportunities they had at third-down back stuff and in return," Stephens-Howling said. "It looked good for me to come here and have the opportunity to compete for those jobs. At the same time its closer to home; Ive been across the country for four years so its nice to be closer to home." Stephens-Howlings father took him to the Steelers annual training camp night practice at Greater Latrobe High School when he was a kid. While in college, Stephens-Howling remembers frequently watching the Steelers practice from a window in the practice facility Pitt and the Steelers share. Although he has yet to appear in a regular-season game at Heinz Field, his first preseason game as a professional was there in 2009. Just four years later, hes the player at his position on the Steelers with the most NFL tenure. "Hes brought a lot of experience and helps out a lot already," said Jonathan Dwyer, Pittsburghs leading rusher last season. "Hes having a great camp so far. He brings a lot of exciting things to the table in the passing game and the running game. "Dont let his size fool you; hes a tough guy. He doesnt shy away form contact. Hes not scared of anybody." Stephens-Howling proved that Saturday when he was given the ball during short-yardage and goal-line drills. During one goal-line play he absorbed one of the most vicious hits of the practice, protecting his quarterback and allowing a touchdown pass. During individual blocking drills earlier this week, coach Mike Tomlin audibly enjoyed how the 185-pound running back was frustrating linebackers who often had six inches or more and at least 50 pounds on Stephens-Howling. "Blockings something I work on, and I try to get better everyday," Stephens-Howling said. "Im definitely not satisfied with my blocking right now, but as the games go on Im going to get better." In order to ensure a role in the backfield on third downs, he knows hell have to prove he can block as much as he will need to show he can catch. A career-high 17 of Stephens-Howlings 56 career receptions came last season. Coaches have talked about getting him the ball in space to take advantage of his speed. "Hes fast and he can also run the ball up the middle," Redman said. "Mostly, though, hes a good guy -- a genuinely good person -- and thats what we needed in our running back room. Personality-wise, he clicks right with us." The hope is he will on the field, too. Notes: The Steelers signed veteran OT DAnthony Batiste on Saturday and placed OT Nik Embernate on the waived/injured list. The 31-year-old Batiste had 10 of his 14 career starts last season for the Cardinals. He has appeared in 37 games over seven NFL seasons for six teams. The 6-4, 314-pound Batiste opened last season as the Cardinals starting left tackle and adds to tackle group that lacked depth behind projected starters Mike Adams and Marcus Gilbert. Embernate is an undrafted guard from San Diego State who sustained a knee injury earlier this week. ... Among the myriad players who sat out Saturdays practice for injury or personal reasons were TE Matt Spaeth, DE Brett Keisel, LB Jarvis Jones, RB LeVeon Bell, CB Cortez Allen, CB DeMarcus Van Dyke, CB Terry Hawthorne, LB Jason Worilds and LB Lawrence Timmons. "Im not going to get into the details on (minor injuries)," Tomlin said. "Many of these guys will be working their way back here in the next 24-48 hours." ... Tomlin ran another physical practice, saying the abundance of youth on the offensive and defensive lines has necessitated a camp with more live tackling and contact. CARSON, Calif. http://www.jordan4uk.com/air-jordan-6-retro-mens-noctilucent-tags-shoes-black-purple.html . -- Robbie Keane scored three goals and the Los Angeles Galaxy rallied to beat Western Conference-leading Real Salt Lake 4-2 on Saturday night. Keane scored in the 56th, 67th and 86th minutes to help the Galaxy (11-9-4) pull four points behind Salt Lake and tighten an eight-team battle for five West playoff berths. The top seven teams are separated by eight points, with San Jose another three points back. Omar Gonzalez, who signed a designated player contract this week, also scored for Los Angeles. The Galaxy could had two more -- but those were stopped on the goal line, first by Chris Wingert on Landon Donovan two minutes after Keanes first goal and by Kenny Mansally on Todd Dunivant near the end. "We played well the whole 90 (minutes)," said Donovan, whose corner kick Gonzalez headed home in the 75th minute for a 3-1 lead. "We probably deserved a 4- or 5-0 game, but real happy with how we performed." Panamanian goalkeeper Jaime Penedo made his MLS debut for the Galaxy, making a fine save on Alvaro Saborios shot to the upper-right corner three minutes into the second half. Joao Plata gave Real Salt Lake (12-8-5) a lead in the 53rd minute, finishing from a wonderful touch by Ned Grabavoy. Keane scored from a long pass by Juninho to tie it, then volleyed Los Angeles ahead off a cross by Sean Franklin 11 minutes later. Keane got his 10th goal to complete his hat trick in the 86th, lifting the ball over rushing goalkeeper Nick Rimando. "What can I say," Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis said. "I think (Los Angeles is) extremely effective in what they do, and if theyre on their game, sometimes youre just gonna have to say theyre the better team, and I think thats what we have to say tonight." PETERSBURG, Fla.NEW YORK -- Mark Sanchezs banged-up right shoulder will keep him out of the New York Jets preseason finale. Whether hes also out of the teams quarterback competition remains to be seen. The Jets announced Sunday that Sanchez is "day-to-day" with an injured shoulder that will sideline him for the teams preseason finale against Philadelphia on Thursday night. Sanchez, competing with rookie Geno Smith for the starting job, was unlikely to play in that game anyway. The team did not announce the nature or severity of Sanchezs injury, suffered in the Jets 24-21 overtime victory over the Giants on Saturday night. Sanchez had an X-ray after the game on the shoulder, which apparently revealed no fractures, and an MRI exam Sunday to determine if theres any damage. The Jets announcement indicated that Sanchez likely does not have a season-ending injury. Still, theres a chance Sanchez might not be ready in time for the regular-season opener against Tampa Bay on Sept. 8. Sanchez, who appeared in good shape to beat out Smith for the starting job, left with 5:40 left in the fourth quarter when he took a hard hit in the shoulder from Marvin Austin after he completed a 23-yard pass to Mohamed Massaquoi. Sanchez stayed on the turf, writhing in pain for a few moments as the teams trainers ran out to check on him. When he eventually got up, the quarterback flexed his right arm and hand as he headed to the sideline. He took one practice throw on the sideline and appeared to shake his head "No." Trainers wrapped his shoulder in ice before taking him to the locker room. Coach Rex Ryan has taken a lot of heat from media and fans for bringing in Sanchez that late in the game behind an offensive line made up of backups. While it was similaar to the line he played with in the third quarter of last weeks win over Jacksonville, it seemed somewhat curious why Sanchez -- who many assumed had moved ahead in the competition -- would be put in at that point. http://www.jordan4uk.com/626970-030-air-jordan-iv-4-fear-gs-dark-grey-black.html. . "I understand being second-guessed when an injury happens," Ryan said. "Certainly I understand that. But thats football." Smith struggled in his first NFL start, throwing three interceptions and stepping out of the back of the end zone for a safety while playing into the fourth quarter. Ryan and Smith said after the game that the plan all along was to have Sanchez play after Smith. "I would not have put Mark in there if it wasnt important," Ryan said. Ryan also turned testy -- turning his body sideways to the media at one point -- while refusing to definitively answer whether Smith could still win the quarterback competition despite his poor performance. "I can say anything I want," he said. "Thats the beauty of this country. I can answer it 100 (times). I can stand backwards and answer the question. Im going sideways. Well make the announcement when I think its the appropriate time." Sanchez finished 5 of 6 for 72 yards and a lost fumble, but had likely moved ahead of Smith in the competition. Now, if Sanchez must miss a few weeks, Smith could be the Week 1 starter. The only other quarterbacks on the roster are the inexperienced Greg McElroy and Matt Simms. "As long as Rex and the committee are evaluating us, I think I have a shot," Smith said after the game. "As Ive stated, I dont think one game, one practice, one day will tell you the type of quarterback I am. I think it takes a ton of evaluation to get this thing done." Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '

On Thursday night the Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs 112-101 to become the second team in NBA history to win 70 games in a season. Larry Murphy Penguins Jersey . Our US sportswriter Alex Ferguson asks: Will they get to the Chicago Bulls 72 game record? Like almost every game this season, Stephen Curry was the leader for the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night. He dropped three bombs from three-point range, had nine assists and on the other side of the nets, had two steals and five defensive rebounds. Oh, and he had 27 points total, which led the team. After losing two out of their last three - and one of those to a team who wont trouble the NBA Play-Offs - people were beginning to ask if this team could get over the 70-game hump and beat the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls vaunted record of 72 wins in a season. Curry is the NBAs most in-form player Well, on Thursday night, they had an answer: Yes. They controlled a Spurs team who had all the stars playing - despite coach Greg Popovics reputation for benching all of his starters before play-off time to ensure freshness - from start to finish, becoming only the second team in NBA history to win 70 games. The surge for the record has been a cue for everybody to ask the hypothetical question: Who would win if Jordans Bulls played Currys Warriors in a NBA Finals battle (you know, forgetting about conditioning, speed, size etc)?Bulls great Scottie Pippen - who starred alongside Jordan and Dennis Rodman - said that the 1995-96 Bulls would sweep the Warriors in four games. I dont think wed take the night off, Pippen told The Dan Patrick Show. I think that my size and length would bother [Curry] a little bit. Michael Jordan is arguably the NBAs greatest player And its not going unnoticed by the US media that the one tie that binds the 1995-96 Bulls team to the 2015-16 Warriors is one Steve Kerr. In Chicago he was a second-tier player (Jordan, Pippen and Rodman were the first, with Toni Kukoc, Ron Harper, Luc Longley in the second), averaging 7.8 points per game. In Golden State he is a first-tier coach, on the verge of history. But Kerr himself knows the responsibility is winning his second straight NBA title, which is why he told ESPN that hes thinking about resting his top players now that his team has home-field advantage throughout the play-offs.Weve been putting it off for as long as we were able to, which was until we got the 1-seed, he said. Now that we have that, Im inclined to give some guys some rest if they need it, but Ive sort of made a pact with the guys that if they are not banged up and they are not tired and if they want to go for this record or whatever then -- so we got to talk. Steve Kerr #25 played for Bulls in their heyday I think that the young legs of the Warriors will certainly want to go and beat history. After all, everyones talking about it and not playing the game would probably cause a bunch of Teslas to be set on fire and iPads to be thrown around in frustration in Silicon Valley. But after the Boston and Minnesota losses, Golden State cant afford to lose one of their next three game if they want to beat the Bulls record. Two of the clashes come against the Memphis Grizzlies (the first and third), who themselves have confirmed a play-off place and will certainly have the away disadvantage in the first round. The Grizzlies have won just one game in their last seven, and were obliterated by the Warriors in their two previous games, losing by 50 points in their first game and 16 in the second. Yeah, it hasnt been pretty. Golden State Warriors have dominated Memphis Grizzlies this season Sandwiched in between that is a clash on the road against the Spurs. Popovich - who incidentally coached Kerr to a NBA title when he played at the Spurs - has already said that hes not going to rest his own stars for that one. We dont want to sit them two nights in a row going into the playoffs. That doesnt make much sense, he said. No matter who were playing tomorrow, wed sit them; doesnt matter. So the opponents not the thing. Its about minutes, time, age, all that stuff. Hell be hoping that young star LaMarcus Aldridges little finger is mended by Sunday night. The NBA world certainly will!So can the Golden State go 3-0 and seal their place in history? I think yes.  Marc-Andre Fleury Penguins Jersey . While a deal hasnt been reached yet between the NHL, the union and the International Ice Hockey Federation, to send the leagues players to Sochi, a long meeting Monday pushed the sides much closer to an agreement. "Things are moving along," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. Bettman, union leader Donald Fehr and IIHF President Rene Fasel met for more than five hours Monday at league headquarters to work on a deal that would allow NHL players to compete at the 2014 games in Russia. This would be the fifth Olympics for the NHL. Not everything has been agreed to and the various sides need to meet internally to sign off on any pact. Still, Bettman called Mondays session a "constructive meeting," adding there are still "some Is to dot and Ts to cross." "I think its fair to say that were not quite ready to announce its done," Bettman said. Fasel headed to the airport following the meeting and planned to get together with various international groups beginning on Tuesday. Fehr will brief the players during multiday union executive board meetings next week. "We had a very constructive meeting," Fasel said. "I am very happy and pleased. I have to go back also to my federation and to other national federations, especially back to the IOC, to make a report. I am confident that we will have a solution at the end." When pressed for a timeline to get a deal done, Bettman responded with an emphatic, "Soon. Very soon." "Were on a compact schhedule," Bettman added. Jaromir Jagr Jersey. "Everybody is working very hard and we seem to be pulling the oars in the same direction." The biggest challenge the NHL faces every time the Olympics come is the need to stop the hockey season for several weeks in order for its players to go. That is even more of a factor this time because the Olympics are taking place one year after a lengthy lockout wiped out nearly half of the hockey regular season. While the Olympic exposure is good for the NHL, breaking up another season in February is hardly ideal. Bettman declined to get into specifics of what still needs to be worked out. But it was certainly a positive to see all three men standing side by side outside the NHL offices -- a far cry from last year during the lockout when Bettman and Fehr were on opposite sides and held separate news conferences on the street. Fehr agreed with Bettman this time that only smaller details have to be ironed out before a final deal can be reached. "From my end, while weve made a lot of progress on a lot of issues, there are a few I dots and T crosses to do yet," Fehr said. "We have to turn it into final written documents, and I do have to go back to my executive board. Things are moving along." Fasel, from Switzerland, joked that an agreement could already have been in place if the talks werent held in English. "There are still some language problems to understand. Its not so easy for me," he said. "I would prefer to speak French with my two colleagues. It would be much easier to negotiate with them." Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
