PITTSBURGH -- Jean Machi has been playing professional baseball in the United States since 2002 when he pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies team in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League. Wholesale Heat Jerseys . Yet the beefy right-handed reliever, now with the San Francisco Giants, had never been asked to bunt until the 13th inning Monday night. Not only did he successfully execute get the bunt for a sacrifice, but caused Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jared Hughes to rush a wide throw to first base. The error enabled Hunter Pence to score from second base and give the Giants an 11-10 victory. "I saw (Hughes) got a late break off the mound and slipped and I knew I had to run hard," Machi said through a translator. "I was excited because I did my job. They wanted me to move the runners up and I did that." San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said he was confident the 6-foot, 255-pound Machi could bunt despite the lack of experience. "Looks are deceiving in his case," Bochy said. "Hes a lot more athletic than he looks." San Francisco overcame a six-run deficit to run its winning streak to a season-best six games and also win for the 10th time in 11 games while sending the Pirates to their 18th loss in 23 games. Hughes (1-1) came on to start the 13th with the score tied at 10. With one out, he walked Pence and hit Juan Perez with a pitch to put runners on first and second base. Machi (5-0) then dropped down his bunt and wound up tied for the major league lead in victories with three starting pitchers: the Los Angeles Dodgers Zack Greinke, St. Louis Adam Wainwright and Torontos Mark Buehrle. Giants backup catcher Hector Sanchez had four hits and three RBIs, while Buster Posey, who got a day off from catching and played first base, had three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. Pence finished with three hits and scored four times and Angel Pagan also had three of San Franciscos 20 hits. Michael Morse drove in two runs with a pair of doubles. Posey forced extra innings when his RBI single in the ninth off Mark Melancon tied it at 10. Machi pitched two scoreless innings and Sergio Romo worked the 13th for his 10th save. "Its just one of 162 games and at the end of the day its about playing hard, playing to the end and never giving up," Pence said. The Pirates Andrew McCutchen had four hits and Pedro Alvarez homered and drove in four runs. Pittsburgh went ahead by six runs, 8-2, after scoring four times in the fifth inning but couldnt hold on. Pittsburgh starter Jeff Locke, recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier in the day, allowed six runs in 5 1/3 innings. The Pirates needed a spot starter after their rotation was scrambled last week by back-to-back rainouts in Baltimore. Six Pirates relievers gave up four runs in 7 2/3 innings and Bryan Morris let all three inherited runners scored when he relieved Locke. "Well, it basically got to our location not being good," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said of his bullpens struggles. "We were up in the zone more than we normally are." San Franciscos Yusmeiro Petit allowed eight runs in 4 1-3 innings. He started in place of Matt Cain, who was placed on the disabled list Sunday with a cut on his right index finger. "I thought we were dead in the water," Bochy said. "It was one of the grittiest games Ive been a part of in this group." NOTES: Bochy is confident Cain will make his next scheduled start Saturday against the Dodgers at Los Angeles. ... San Francisco 1B Brandon Belt, who entered in a 2-for-29 slump, did not start but went 1-for-2 with a walk off the bench. ... Pittsburgh RHP Jason Grilli played catch for the second time in three days but there is no timetable for when the closer, who is on the DL with a strained left oblique, will be able to throw off a mound. ... The Pirates optioned RHP Casey Sadler to Indianapolis to open a roster spot for Locke.Cheap Heat Jerseys China . MONTREAL - General manager Jim Popp says he has had no contact with former NFL receiver Chad (Ochocinco) Johnson about playing for the Montreal Alouettes. Wholesale Orioles Jerseys . "I have had no discussions with Chad Johnson or his representation," Popp said Friday in an email. However, he appeared to confirm a report on Twitter from TSN this week that Johnson was on Montreals negotiation list. He said it had become news "because someone has leaked confidential information to a media source about our negotiation list." Johnsons response on Twitter to the report said: "Nothing to negotiate, Ill be fast as hell and in shape @ochocinco." In another cryptic tweet later, Johnson was asked what are the chances he will sign with the Alouettes and he replied: "85 % yes 15 % probation." The 36-year-old Johnson played 11 seasons in the NFL, the first 10 with Cincinnati. He last played in 2011 with New England, when he had 15 catches for 276 yards. Over his career, the popular receiver caught 766 passes for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns. Cheap Orioles Jerseys China . There were no real chances until Augsburg broke the deadlock through Raul Bobadilla in the 33rd minute. Frankfurt failed to clear a cross and Bobadilla slotted home from close range at the far post. Cheap Baltimore Orioles Jerseys . The team also announced Tuesday that the Braves will wear a commemorative patch on the right sleeve during the season. The patch, shaped like home plate, carries the number 715, Aarons autograph and a "40th Anniversary" banner.SACRAMENTO - Regardless of how the rest of the campaign shakes out, when its all said and done December 8 will be a date that jumps out as a turning point, not only for the Raptors but for Rudy Gay himself. Its been two seasons in one for both parties and neither will look back on the first 18 games fondly. "I think I took the fall for a lot of things," said Gay, reflecting on his short time in Toronto ahead of Wednesdays game against his former club. "But its happened before and itll happen again." Rightly or wrongly, Gay has and will continue to shoulder most of the blame for Torontos 6-12 start, the same way his exodus will be credited for the teams remarkable turnaround. Theres no avoiding it. In Toronto, Gay was the offence, more or less. He was taking more shots than ever before, shooting the lowest percentages of his career and as a result the team was losing. The numbers are pretty conclusive, the Raptors are a better team without him on the roster. However, Gay has also taken off since the trade to Sacramento, which goes to show you that finding the right fit - although its easier said than done - can make a big difference. "I think here theres just more space [in the offence]," said Gay, who is averaging more points and taking fewer shots with the Kings. "Obviously with the kind of season Kyle (Lowry) is having and with DeMar (DeRozan) sometimes it would be a little cluttered out there, especially at the guard position. Here theres just more space for me to do what I do." Gay has shot 50 per cent or better in 17 of his 25 games with the Kings after doing so in one of 18 contests to begin the season in Toronto. Overall, hes hitting 53 per cent of his field goal attempts since the trade, having shot 39 per cent before it. "It just wasnt working up there for whatever reason," said Kings first-year head coach Mike Malone. "But when we made the acquisition we looked at Rudy as a complete player and his whole history, including his years in Memphis and you see how efficient and effective hes been for us." He credits most of that improvement to a system thats more conducive to his style of play, a system that revolves around dominant centre DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins is one of just three NBA players averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds this season. The attention he attracts in the paint has created space for Gay to operate on the perimeter. "You look at Torontos roster and no disrespect to Jonas (Valanciunas) or Amir (Johnson) but they dont have a true low-post presence," Malone said. "When Rudy was in Memphis he had two [frontcourt] guys that he could play with in Marc (Gasol) and Zach (Randolph) and we just thought the idea of putting him on the perimeter with the inside presence of [Cousins] could really allow him to showcase his abilities. Cheap Orioles Jerseys Authentic. ." "So it is a fit and guys have to compliment each other and thats what putting together a roster is all about," he continued. "Up there, for whatever reason, DeMar and Rudy on the court maybe wasnt a mesh, maybe [there] wasnt enough shots to go around. Im not sure what it was but all I can tell you is that the games that weve had Rudy hes been a great fit." The marriage between Gay and the Raptors, which lasted less than a full year, was flawed from the outset. He and DeRozan had repetitive skill sets that clashed on the court, restricting Lowry from playing to his strengths and stunting the growth of Valanciunas. Dwane Casey tried his best to fit square pegs into round holes until the inevitable split up freed his team and their most expensive player. The pieces just didnt fit. Though his pre-trade numbers may suggest otherwise, Gay never threw in the towel or lost hope that they would figure it out. "I think we had a chance to be a really good team," he said, two months removed from the deal. "I mean obviously theyre a really good team now but I still dont feel we had a lot of time to build and become a big threat in the East." Without Gay the Raptors have a record of 20-10, third best in the Eastern Conference behind only Indiana and Miami. They have recorded 20 or more assists in 24 of those 30 games, averaging 22.9 per contest, ninth-best over that stretch after ranking last in that category before the trade (averaging 17.3). They have gone from the 19th ranked three-point shooting team (34 per cent) to the fifth best (38 per cent) and find themselves in the top 10 in both offensive (10th) and defensive (fifth) efficiency since Dec. 8. "I think the trade helped both of us," Gay said. "Im here, I have more room and they have a solid bench. [Theres] no hard feelings. I love the fact that those guys are winning." Meanwhile, Gays reprisal hasnt translated to team success in Sacramento, at least not yet. The Kings are 11-19 since the trade, tied for the worst record in the West overall. Theyre last in the NBA in assists since Gays arrival but its been their defence, among the worst in the league, that has held them back more than anything else. Yet with Gay on board, paired with a young core of Cousins and breakout point guard Isaiah Thomas, the Kings are optimistic about the future. They have reason to be. "We couldnt be happier with Rudy and hes shown that hes much more than just a scorer," Malone said. "Hes proven to everybody that he can be a very efficient player so thats been a bonus." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

Sydney, Australia (SportsNetwork. Cheap MLB Jerseys .com) - Petra Kvitova captured her first title of 2015 with a straight-set victory over fellow Czech Karolina Pliskova in Fridays final at the Sydney International. The second-seeded Kvitova gutted out a pair of tiebreaks to earn a 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6) victory, claiming her 15th career title and third in Australia. Im glad I can stand here as the winner of this tournament, Kvitova said. For me, this week will always give me great memories in my mind. She has struggled somewhat in the opening Grand Slam event of the year, however, with four exits before the third round and a semifinal finish in 2012 her best result in six tries. The last two visits to Melbourne have been particularly rough, a second-round setback in 2013 and a stunning first-round loss last year against Luksika Kumkhum. She will face a qualifier in the first round next week. Pliskova fell to 3-4 all-time in WTA finals. She reached five title matches last year, winning twice, and is expected to move into the Top 20 for the first time when the new rankings are released next week. Congratulations to Petra, Pliskova said. She had an amazing week. She was playing very well today and was definitely the better player out there, so I wish her good luck in Melbourne next week. But it was a good week for me before Melbourne too. I hope to come back next year. A qualifier is also on the first-round schedule for Pliskova In Melbourne next week. SACRAMENTO, Calif. Wholesale White Sox Jerseys . - Archie Goodwin scored 12 of his career-high 29 points in the fourth quarter and the Phoenix Suns defeated the Sacramento Kings 104-99 Wednesday night in the season finale for both teams. The Suns outscored the Kings 33-25 in the fourth quarter to snap a three-game losing streak. Goodwin, a rookie guard with little playing time this season, made a jumper to put the Suns ahead for good with 3:49 left in the game. Marcus Morris had 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter for the Suns. Twin Markieff Morris scored 15 points and Gerald Green 12. Phoenix played without guard Goran Dragic (sore left ankle), who led the Suns in scoring and assists. Ben McLemore had 31 points and five assists, both career highs, for the Kings, who lost for the sixth time in seven games while playing starters Rudy Gay and Isaiah Thomas limited minutes. Travis Outlaw had 15 points and Ray McCallum 13. It was a disappointing season for the Suns (48-34), who missed the playoffs despite a dramatic turnaround under rookie coach Jeff Hornacek after winning 25 games a year ago. Only the Suns and Golden State (2007-08) have won 48 games and failed to make the playoffs since the NBA went to the 16-team playoff format. After winning nine of 11 and moving into seventh last week in the Western Conference, the Suns dropped three straight games in a four-night span. The Memphis Grizzlies clinched the last available playoff berth Monday night in Phoenix, eliminating the Suns with a 97-91 victory. Sacramento was without leading scorer and rebounder DeMarcus Cousins. He was called for a technical foul in Sundays victory over Minnesota and drew an automatic one-game suspension for getting his 16th technical foul of the season. It was another lacklustre season for the Kings (28-53), who matched their win total from last year and failed to make the playoffs for an eighth straight season. Goodwin converted on three-point play to give the Suns a 92-87 lead midway through the fourth quarter. After the Kings tied the score, Goodwin made a layup and a 3, putting Phoenix ahead 99-94. The Kings shared the ball and shot 50 per cent in the third quarter to take a 74-71 lead into the fourth. McLemore, who has experienced a difficult first season, surpassed his previous career-high of 18 points when he hit a 3 at the 10-minute mark in the third quarter. NOTES: Former Kings standout Mitch Richmond was honoured at halftime for his recent induction into the Hall of Fame. . Before the game, Gay accepted the Oscar Robertson Triple-Double Award, which is presented to the Kings player who best exemplifies winning characteristics as both a player and an active community member. . The award was presented by Robertson, a Hall of Fame player who played for the franchise when it was the Cincinnati Royals. . Hes been second once and third twice on the PGA Tour this season, clinched a spot in the Presidents Cup and is contending for the FedEx Cup title and a cool five-figure bonus. Cheap MLB Jerseys Authentic . But Graham DeLaet isnt actively looking to replace his idol as the new face of Canadian golf. "None of us is trying to be the next Mike Weir, thats for sure, because hes one of a kind," DeLaet said during a conference call Thursday. "He carried the flag for this country for a long time and did it well, not only just in golf but for sport in Canada in general. "Hes a tremendous ambassador for our country and the game and if I can be half the ambassador hes been Id be quite happy." Weir, of Brights Grove, Ont., is tied with the late George Knudson for most career PGA Tour wins by a Canadian with eight, but is the only Canuck to have won a major after his victory at the 2003 Masters. The veteran left-hander turned pro in 1992 and is ranked No. 20 in career earnings with over $27 million. But the 43-year-olds last PGA Tour win came in 2007 and he didnt make the cut in the 14 events he entered last year. So far in 2013, Weir has made the cut in nine of 22 tournaments and earned $194,510. DeLaet, 31, who battled back problems early in his career, is enjoying a breakthrough campaign. The native of Weyburn, Sask., who turned pro in 2006, finished tied for second -- a career best -- at The Barclays and his third-place finish Monday in the Deutsche Bank Championship earned him a spot on the international team for next months Presidents Cup in Dublin, Ohio. It will mark DeLaets first appearance in the Presidents Cup, an event Weir has played in five times. The two spoke briefly about the tournament earlier this year, but DeLaet wants to speak with Weir again about what he can expect. "I was actually planning on giving him a call and just picking his brain a little bit," DeLaet said. "We played a practice round in Hartford this year and at that time I was on the outside looking in for the Presidents Cup ... but it was on my radar and something I wanted to achieve. "Pretty much everyone Ive talked to says its the most amazing tournament that youll play in, the atmosphere is unbelievable. I havent played a ton of match play and obviously he took down (Tiger Woods in 2007 Presidents Cup) so he knows something about it." The Presidents Cup pits a team representing the U.S. against an international squad in a match-play format. Each game is worth a point with a maximum of 34 available so the side amassing 17.5 or more points wins. The U.S. has dominated this event, winning seven of nine played since its inception in 1994. The International sides lone victory came in 1998, with the 2003 competition finishing tied. DeLaet doesnt have much match-play experience but is embracing the format. "I actually feel it suits my game pretty well," DeLaet said. "You can be a lot more aggressive when needed and also play smart when needed. "Its obviously a totally different game, youre playing more against your competitor than you are the golf course ... its exciting to think about right now. I cant wait to play it." Although hell be a Presidents Cup rookie, DeLaet is more than comfortable to take a leadership role on the International squad, if required. "Ive played team sports all my life ... I feel like Im a good leader," he said. "Obviously Im going to be a rookie on that team so I probably wont assume a leadership role by any means but I feel I can help guys out. "We all know whats at stake and you dont want to let guys down. But at the same time if you can pump a guy up when hes a little bit down on himself or disappointed in a shot and let him know its not a big deal, that we have a lot of golf to play and you believe in him, thats really the thing." DeLaet has made the cut in 19 of 24 events this year and posted 12 top-25 finishes. Hes currently ranked fifth in the FedEx Cup standings, 16th on the PGA Tour money list (over $2.6 million) and No. 35 in the world golf rankings. "I was speaking with one of my buddies (Wednesday) and he was going through some things like the world rankings, money list and FedEx Cup and guys Im ahead of," DeLaet said. "I kind of sat back and thought, Wow, this has just been an unbelievable year. "I feel like theres been a couple of chances Ive let slip away a little bit but its great being in contention. My time is coming, I totally believe in that." But the season could become even more memorable if DeLaet manages to finish atop the FedEx Cup standings, which would earn him a $10-million bonus cheque. Remaining No. 5 wouldnt be bad either, given the $1-million bonus. However, being in contention for the top prize means DeLaet can allow himself to realistically think big. "If I can stay in the top-5 going into the Tour Championship, I have a legitimate chance of winning," DeLaet said. "I think its a realistic goal, to win it."Cheap MLB Jerseys . -- Adam Tambellini scored three times and set up one more as the Calgary Hitmen won their sixth in a row by crushing the host Lethbridge Hurricanes 8-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League play. Cheap Boston Red Sox Jerseys . Radford said he had chills skating to his own song, which he recorded with a 16-piece string section in a Montreal studio last spring. "It is a different experience hearing my own music, it just creates a deep centred feeling inside of me. . . its difficult to put into words," Radford said. Despite leaving considerable room for improvement, the Canadians -- Duhamel in a floaty pink dress, and Radford in an understated grey shirt and pants -- are way ahead of where they were at this point last season. "Last year we came to this event, skated a clean short, and got 64, so this shows everything that weve been working towards and improving," Duhamel said. "We started with 64 last season and ended with a 73 at worlds, so this is exactly where we want to be, we want to hit those high 70s as we go into nationals and as we go into the Olympics. I think that its a good step." Paige Lawrence of Kennedy, Sask., and Rudi Swiegers of Kipling, Sask., were sixth, while Margaret Purdy of Strathroy, Ont., and Michael Marinaro of Sarnia, Ont., were eighth. SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres will miss $215 million man Clayton Kershaw in baseballs North American opener Sunday night. Ryan Kesler Jersey . Theyll face pretty much the rest of the $235 million roster of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who sit atop baseballs payroll perch and the NL West. Catch the action live on TSN2, starting with Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown at 6:30pm et/3:30pm pt. Padres third baseman Chase Headley said his team has a "healthy dislike" of the Dodgers, who won the division last year after going on a 42-8 run that began with a victory in San Diego. That said, the Padres welcome the prime-time spotlight, rare for a team thats lost 91, 86 and 86 games the last three seasons and hasnt been to the playoffs since 2006. "I think itll be fun," said Headley, whose future is uncertain because he and the club failed for the second straight off-season to agree to a long-term contract. "Its just a good opportunity for the Padres. Being in this market, we dont get that opportunity a lot. Itll be exciting to be the one and only game on. Hopefully well go out and play the way we can and maybe some fans that wouldnt necessarily watch us will get to see were a pretty good team." Kershaw, who last fall won the NL Cy Young Award for the second time in three seasons, was scratched from Sunday nights start on Wednesday because of an inflamed muscle in his back. He landed on the disabled list Saturday for the first time in his career. The Dodgers will turn to left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (1-0), who won the second of two games against the division rival Arizona Diamondbacks in Sydney. The Dodgers came home leading the NL West at 2-0. The Padres, who have a relatively modest payroll of $90 million, the highest in their history, will counter with right-hander Andrew Cashner, who was 10-9 with a 3.09 ERA last year. "Its pretty neat with us being the only game in baseball on Sunday," Cashner said. "So thats a big honour for us and our city. Were looking forward to it." The big Texan, obtained in a trade with the Chicago Cubs in January 2012, has quickly ascended to the top of San Diegos rotation. Being tapped as the opening day starter by manager Bud Black "is huge for me, just the road Ive come, the injuries Ive had, just last year, learning a lot and coming around to the player I thought I could be," Cashner said. "Its a big honour." In three starts against the Dodgers last year, Cashner lost by scores of 3-1, 2-1 and 1-0, while striking out 16 and not allowing a home run in 22 innings. "Hes got a power arm and tries to keep the ball down," said Adrian Gonzalez, who was with the Padres from 2006 until being traded to Boston after the 2010 season. "We beat him three times without a homer, so hopefully well beat him without a homer again." The Padres play in a pitchers park "and they always seem to keep coming up with more and more arms," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Cashner at the end of the year last year was filthy. Theyve got good arms, theyve got guys that play the game right and they play hard. Theyre tough because Bud always matches up with you right and left pretty good, and theyre getting more and more experience." Los Angeles season-changing, 42-8 surge in 2013 started with a win at Petco Park on June 22. The Dodgers salvaged the final two games of a four-game series. "It felt good to win those two games," catcher A.J. Ellis said. "We were definitely scuffling at that time and youre hoping that was the turn. But to go 42-8, starting with that, that was the last thing in any of our thoughts. "But it was good to see (Zack) Greinke throw the ball well, kind of kick things off and see him get healthy and in the form hes accustomed. Read on for the biggest rumours as GMs have one day remaining to make moves prior to the beginning of free agency. Organized Reim The Toronto Maple Leafs may now also be able to add finding a new home for James Reimer to their list of tasks. The 26-year-old is reportedly seeking a trade after losing the lions share of crease time with the Leafs this season to Jonathan Bernier. TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger stated Monday that the request is not unexpected. "James Reimers trade request should come as no surprise," he said in a tweet. "He believes hes a #1 and wants a fresh start to prove that." He added that the Leafs do not have a strong offer for Reimer on the table and that he has been told to be ready for training camp in the event a suitable deal can not be found. Toronto does have interest in Martin Brodeur, according to Dreger, but his sense is that the interest is "mild". Toronto is also expected to make another offer to Dave Bolland on Monday. Dreger said he does not expect the Leafs to go beyond $25 million over five years, which he believes will not be enough to keep Bolland from the open market. Centre Stage After failing to strike a deal at the NHL Draft, Ottawa Senators GM Bryan Murray is now inching ever closer to the July 1 free agency opening without a new home for centre Jason Spezza. McKenzie said Monday that while interest remains high in the 31-year-old, there is nothing imminent on the trade front. "[St. Louis] and [Dallas] are the two teams who currently have interest in [Ottawa]s Jason Spezza," he tweeted Monday. "Doesnt sound like a deal is close." Van City Thomas Vanek is another popular option for teams seeking a breakout forward. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports that there are eight-to-10 teams interested in the big Austrian winger, including the Minnesota Wild. The Wild are not believed to be interested in a long-term deal, LeBrun says, but that does not appear to be a deterrent for Vanek who is still believed to like Minnesota as a possible landing spot. Bringing up Boyle Dan Boyle will likely have no shortage of options once the formal offers start rolling in on Tuesday. Dreger reports that Boyle will have multiple offers to consider come noon et on a new two-year deal. The Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers as well as Toronto and Montreal are believed to be his top five destinations, according to Dreger. Speaking to TSN Radio 1050s Mike Richards on Monday, Dreger said "a return to Tampa Bay would make sense because there is some familiarity between both parties." Welcome Matt Interest remains high in UFA defenceman Matt Niskanen, meanwhile. Dreger reports that more than 10 teams have expressed interest in the Pens blueliner. Niskanens camp is believed to be set to trim that number down over the course of Monday to get ready for formal offers on Tuesday. Avalanche of Options Paul Stastny is another big name drawing lots of attention. T. J. Oshie USA Jersey. LeBrun tweeted Monday that Stastny and agent Matt Keator will work to cut down their destinations list prior to Tuesday and that the St. Louis Blues are expected to remain in the mix. However, LeBrun added that a return to Colorado is still not off the board. The Avalanche dont appear to have the funds to throw around that other suitors might in their pursuit of the 28-year-old centre. Playing it Kul With free agency looming, Nikolai Kulemin may look to join a compatriot once the market opens on Tuesday. Dreger told TSN Radio that the Russian winger could be looking to join former Magnitogorsk teammate Evgeni Malkin and the Pittsburgh Penguins once he officially hits unrestricted free agency. "The Pittsburgh Penguins have expressed interest and with a salary of $3-3.5 million dollars, he will have no shortage of suitors," Dreger said. Curious Gorges The Leafs are still believed to be in pursuit of Montreal Canadiens blueliner Josh Gorges, but his modified no-trade clause may be holding things up. TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie tweeted the Leafs are still hoping hell waive his NTC. If that would occur, McKenzie stated "its believed Montreal would get a roster player from Toronto" in exchange. However, the blueliner may not waive his clause at all. McKenzie tweeted that the situation is "problematic for all. Montreal had deal with Toronto but Gorges refused to waive his modified NTC to go to Toronto. Still wont." The Gorges situation could get more complicated if he refuses to waive his no-trade. According to McKenzie, Montreal appears to want to shed his cap space. They are able to trade him to one of 15 pre-approved teams, but could also put him on waivers failing a trade. If put on waivers, Montreal gets no return but Gorges then loses all control of where he could potentially end up, meaning Gorges might be convinced to take a trade to Toronto instead of being available to any one of the leagues 29 other franchises. Restricted List Monday will see a host of NHL teams extending qualifying offers to their pending restricted free agents, but some players will be cut loose to find new teams via unrestricted free agency. The Anaheim Ducks have not qualified Mathieu Perreault, but are believed to have made him a substantial offer. He will hit unrestricted free agency unless he accepts the offer. Other players without offers include the Vancouver Canucks Zac Delpe and Jordan Schroeder, the Ottawa Senators Jim OBrien, Nathan Lawson and Tyler Eckford (per Le Droits Sylvain St-Laurent), Tampa Bay defender Keith Aulie (per the Tampa Bay Times Joe Smith), Dallas Stars centre Dustin Jeffrey (per Stars writer Mark Stepaneski), Rangers defenceman Justin Falk (per ESPNs Katie Strang). Back in the day, the same four of us (Jon, Ian, Darren, and I) would meet up at Montreals legendary Copacabana to watch whatever game was on. Cheap MLB Jerseys . We were regulars at the bar, a kind dive where you could just drop in and know someone familiar would be around to have a beer with. The kind of place where the adult beverage of choice was quickly placed in front of you upon your arrival. We were there to watch games, but it was more than that. We were a bunch of writers, at different points in our careers and lives, getting away from our lives. It was group therapy. With beer. There were few better nights in those years than a good Habs game at Copa. Friends would come in and out, for a period or two, for a drink or four. Partners would join us, or not. Between periods wed chide each other the way friends do, bemoan each others losses, celebrate each others victories. We played a game within the game called JägerMuller. If Habs assistant coach Kirk Muller appeared on screen (not including wide angle or crowd shots) the last person to yell JägerMuller had to buy a round of Jägermeister for the group. This often led to empty wallets and foggy third periods, but JägerMuller was ours and it made a contextual experience all that more unique, all that more memorable. As time passed, the opportunity to watch sports as a group got more and more challenging. Copa closed. People had kids, moved away, traveled for work, or had partners who wouldnt permit them to indulge in Tuesday night binge drinking. But we live in the high speed digital age, an age ruled by social media and easy communication. The four of us opened up a Facebook thread that was for any sort of conversation: dating woes, the challenges of child rearing, the merits of wasabi peas, politics, the importance of Tums to men in their 30s, the overwhelming fear of ones own mortality, the petulance of poets, why soccer sucks. We tried Skype and Google Hangouts, but as aging writers we found we preferred the anonymity of messaging, the quiet comfort of watching the game both alone and in the company of those we love. But for the most part the thread is for watching hockey games together from afar, often still with our favourite adult beverage in hand, though the days of JägerMuller are over. That games virtues, like nachos, dont transfer well through the digital ether. The Facebook threads message count is somewhere in the mid-40 thousand range as of this writing, and growing each day. An exponential explosion is expected during the playoffs, though Jon (a Jets fan) and Ian (a Leafs apologist) will be forced to cheer for their second favourite teams. The virtual bar that the digital age has provided us pales in comparison to their company, but it has allowed us to stay close, to continue to care about each other the way we did when were separated by city blocks and not oceans and responsibilities. But the bar that we left just a few years ago is not the same bar where sports are enjoyed today. Its a lesser venue. Consider the bar argument. No longer can hours be spent fighting over what year Gretzky scored 50 goals in 39 games, what round Luc Robitaille was drafted in, the rate at which Randy Carlyles hairline has been receding. Answers are too quickly found on our phones, and the shortened distance of knowledge does not promote an expanse of conversation. Plus, the bars too busy tweeting cleverness in 140 characters, or arguing with some 12-year-old in Abbostford over whos the better d-man, Subban or Weber. Or instagramming retro-filtered photos of our cocktails. Or adding the waitress as a friend on Facebook. Theres a grand irony in the fact that the same advents that have made watching sports a more communal experience with those who cant be in our presence has had the opposite effect on those in our presence. On the off nights where my friends cant meet up in the digital bar, and I dont have the wherewithal or funds to hit the real bar I, like most, watch games with Twitter open. But instead of finding a substitute for those who cant be with me, Im overwhelmed by the faux-expertise and bravado that ends up in my feed. Just because you have a blog and 45 Twitter followers doesnt exactly make you Bob McKenzie. I appreciate fandom and respect the free speech virtues of the medium, but holy hell @HabsFan4lyfe69 if you cant spell Michel Therrien, you really shouldnt be offered the privilege of publicly questioning the size of his manhood. The amount of valuable discourse is too often overshadowed by the sycophantic, or vile, or uninformed. Just look at what happens when Joel Ward scores in overtime or Jason Collins steps on the court the first time. The degenerate xenophobes bear their virtual white sheets in the comfortable anonymity or ignorant ignominy of cyberspace. There are no bouncers online, no bartenders with the ability to cut off the flow of alcohol. But sports are the last collective viewing experience, with the possible exception of the Oscars. With the advent of PVRs and streaming video you can watch Scandal whenever you please, but the sport still requires a live audience. No one wants to watch the game later. Even if youre stuck at work, on a plane, or at your boyfriends sisters third intervention, you can tune in, not miss a shot, a goal, a fight, or a one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments that only sport can provide. In 2010 when the Habs made their magical run to the Conference Finals, one of us couldnt make it to Copa to watch the game. Jon was stuck in a hotel room in Vancouver, watching it on his own. There was no thread then. We didnt all own smartphones. No one said "blogoshpere". The Jets were still the Thrashers. Maybe two of us were on Twitter. So as the bar counted down the minutes of Game 7 of an improbable 5-2 Habs win and an improbable series upset over the heavily-favoured Penguins, I called Jon and placed my flip phone open in the middle of our table. He listened as we sung "Olé, Olé, Olé", as we cheered and piled into the streets, as we mocked Sidney Crosby. Strangers would come pick up the phone and speak to him in English and French about the game, about the city, and about the Habs and dreams of 1993. That night was a microcosm of how we watch the games now, the birth of how fandom and friendship defies distance in a digital age. It was a living analogy of how in four short years the experience of watching sports would change. Not all for the better, of course. But Ill put up with a few egotistical bloggers, the occasional Twitter tantrum, and the death of the bar argument if it means I can watch sports the way I want, from wherever I am, with the people I love. With beer. Wholesale Diamondbacks Jerseys . -- Jonathan Vilmas season is over and his future on the football field is in doubt. Cheap Diamondbacks Jerseys China .J. -- Having Ondrej Pavelec earn his 100th NHL win and seeing Mark Scheifele and Evander Kane break goal droughts were nice highlights for the Winnipeg Jets.TORONTO – High above the ice, while practice took place on Thursday afternoon in Toronto, stood Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis. He watched his team work through various drills, hash out lingering points of confusion and prepare for the latest biggest game of the year - a Friday clash with the Philadelphia Flyers. Nonis can do nothing, however, to affect the fortunes of his skidding team at this very late stage in the season, one tumbling precariously close to another late-season collapse. "Eight games left," said Phil Kessel, shortly before departure to Philadelphia. "Weve got to win some games and get in the playoffs here." "This is desperation time," Nazem Kadri added. "Were playing for our lives, so weve got to go start acting like it." It was exactly two years ago that the 18-wheeler of 2012 officially crashed for good. Losing for a stunning 19th time in 24 games against the Carolina Hurricanes on a late March night, the Leafs were eliminated from the postseason, the culmination of an epic unraveling that would cost Ron Wilson his job. Can they avoid a similar and yet perhaps more stinging fate this time around? The thought would have been almost unthinkable only two weeks earlier, but with six straight losses - all in regulation - and not a single point gained, the Leafs are indeed facing that reality. With a blink or two of the eye, theyve been passed by seven teams, now trailing the Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets for the final two wild card positions, and are in danger of fumbling away a second-straight trip to the postseason. Aspirations of capturing second spot in the Atlantic Division and home-ice advantage in the first round have been replaced by simply making it outright. The shift has been stunning. "I know right now it seems like were at a low point, but we will come through it," said captain Dion Phaneuf, speaking after a near 90-minute practice in Toronto, his performance and subsequent absence afterward a point of much consternation just a couple days earlier. "Im not going to stand here and say that weve played well. We havent. We havent won games, but theres been stretches that weve done some good things, we just havent found a way to win a game and were going to have to do that Friday." The pressure to do so has never been higher. At some point, the pit of despair becomes just too deep to dig out of, the snowball too large to stop from rolling.  That was the case for the club in 2012. Cheap MLB Jerseys Authentic. Four straight early February losses rapidly morphed into nine of 10, a souring fan-base and the sudden dismissal of Wilson. Things would get no better in the early days of Carlyles tenure with 10 more losses in the next 14 games, including the aforementioned knockout blow on March 27.  "Theres pressure in any situation like this," said Kessel, "[but] weve just got to bounce back. If we can get a couple wins here, it would be positive for our group. Weve just got to keep going then." Fear of it all slipping away has seemingly seeped in. Head coach Randy Carlyle observed "tenseness" in the early stages of Tuesdays loss to St. Louis, pushing his club to be more assertive against Philadelphia, currently third in the Metropolitan Division - three points ahead of Toronto. "If youre going to stand there and youre in a street fight and youre not going to move, youre going to allow somebody to swing away, youre going to get hit," said Carlyle. "But if you move and try to avoid the hit and do what you do youre not going to get hit as many times, simple as that." Starts have become the most obvious foe to success during the two-week slide, early and often deep deficits too much to overcome. "So we have to move ourselves," said Carlyle. "We have to move our feet, we have to continue to move the puck effectively, we have to skate … Those are the things that we have to correct and we have to correct it for [Friday] night." "Were starting the games terrible," Kessel said. "Were getting down a couple goals. Theyre out-playing us the first half of the game and then all of a sudden we wake up and we come [back] and its just too late." The same could be said of their playoff fortunes. A collapse under these circumstances might pale in comparison to 2012, given their comfortable state with just weeks to go - they were up three points on the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning as recently as two weeks ago, now trailing both by a wide margin - and the heightened expectations of a club seemingly on the rise. Its a sting they wont want to experience again. "It snowballed on us," Phaneuf said after that season-sealing loss to Carolina two years ago. "We lost a lot of tight games and we just could not recover or find a way out of it as a group." Will they this time around time around? The answer will come soon enough. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

ST. Cheap Denver Nuggets Jerseys . LOUIS -- Another game, another goal for Alexander Steen. Steen scored his NHL-leading 14th goal in 14 games, Brian Elliott stopped 18 shots for his 100th career win and the St. Louis Blues beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 Thursday night. St. Louis has won five of six and is 6-1-1 at home. Calgary has lost four of five and eight of 11. Maxim Lapierre and Vladimir Tarasenko also scored for St. Louis. Elliott, who got the start in place of Jaroslav Halak, improved to 2-0-1 with his second straight strong performance. He stopped 31 shots in a 4-0 win at Florida on Nov. 1. Steen has a point in a career-best nine games in a row. He has scored in all but two contests this season. Despite his sizzling pace, Steen remains focused on the Blues quick 10-2-2 start and not his individual run. "I dont really analyze myself that way," Steen said. "You dont think about that or youll start focusing on the wrong things." Steen converted on a backhand from the slot in the second period to push the lead to 3-0. "He works his butt off and its nice to see him get rewarded," St. Louis defenceman Jordan Leopold said. "Whatever hes doing, hes got to keep doing it." Leopold had two assists in the game, his first points of the season. Steen scored the winning goal in the final minute of a 3-2 win over Winnipeg on Oct. 29 and a 3-2 victory over Chicago on Oct. 9. He became the first St. Louis player to score 14 goals in the first 14 games of a season since Brett Hull had 16 in that span in the 1990-91 campaign. Tim Jackman and Mike Cammalleri scored third-period goals for Calgary. Cammalleri tallied at 14:49 to bring the Flames to within 3-2. But Elliott was able to close down Calgary with some help from a staunch defence, which blocked 18 shots. "They got two on us, but we battled the last few minutes and squeaked it out," Elliott said. Calgary rookie goaltender Reto Berra fell to 1-2 in his third career start. Tarasenko broke an eight-game scoring drought with his fifth of the season on the power play at 3:01 of the opening period. He put home a rebound of a shot by Jay Bouwmeester. Lapierre pushed the lead to 2-0 just over seven minutes later with his first goal as a member of the Blues. "Everything we needed to do, we did in that first period," St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We were really going, really on top of our game." Lapierre was suspended five games for a hit on San Joses Dan Boyle on Oct. 15. He got his first points of the season Thursday in his ninth game. "Its been a slow start for me the first three weeks, almost like two training camps," Lapierre said. "Tonight is more like the player that I am." The Flames, who were 0 for 6 on the power play, have failed in their last 28 man-advantage chances. "Id like to buy one," Calgary coach Bob Hartley said of the goal drought. "I know that the guys are working hard. It seems we just cant turn the red light on." Calgary, after taking five first-period penalties, rallied with a solid third-period effort. "A tale of two games," Cammalleri said. "We really didnt push the play early. At some point, we were able to get some momentum." St. Louis defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk picked up an assist in his seventh successive game, the longest such streak in the NHL this season. NOTES: Calgary forward Curtis Glencross is out four to six weeks with an MCL sprain suffered in Tuesdays 5-1 loss at Minnesota. The team is not disclosing which knee is hurt. "One of the two, what does that change?" Hartley said tersely. ... Blues have scored first in their last six games.... St. Louis opened a season-trying five-game homestand that concludes Nov. 16 against Carolina. ... The Blues have not allowed a power play goal in the last four games. ...Calgary did not record its third shot on goal until 14:30 left in the second period. Wholesale Nuggets Jerseys . FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Michael Lorenzen Reds Jersey . -- Kelyn Rowe scored twice from long distance to lead the New England Revolution to a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Sunday night. Diego Fagundez and Juan Agudelo also scored for New England (10-9-6) and the Revolution benefited from an own goal by Philadelphias Amobi Okugo. The Revolution got their second straight win and pulled into a tie with Houston for fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Danny Cruz scored for the Union (10-8-8). Philadelphia, coming off back-to-back shutout victories, lost for just the second time in seven matches. Rowe put the Revolution on the scoreboard in the 26th minute on a low shot from 25 yards out. Cruz tied it in the 51st as he grabbed a through ball from Conor Casey before escaping Matt Reis and putting it into an open net. Okugos own goal put New England ahead for good in the 58th, and Rowes second goal -- from 30 yards out -- stretched the lead to 3-1 just seven minutes later. Fagundez made it a three-goal lead in the 71st with his team-leading eighth of the season, and Agudelo capped the scoring in the 73rd. TAMPA, Fla. Cheap San Francisco Giants Jerseys . -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers say a third player has been diagnosed with MRSA, a staph infection that is resistant to many common antibiotics. General manager Mark Dominik made the announcement Friday, a day after confirming guard Carl Nicks is being treated for a recurrence of MRSA. Dominik and coach Greg Schiano declined to identify the third player involved in the case diagnosed late Thursday, saying the player requested his name not be released. "Ive spoken to the player, Ive spoken to his agent, and were not at liberty to confirm or deny any player right now," Dominik said. NFL.com reported the player was rookie cornerback Johnthan Banks. The second-round draft pick out of Mississippi State was the only new addition Friday to the injury report, which said Banks did not practice due to illness. Banks is listed as questionable for Sundays game against Philadelphia. Nicks, who along with kicker Lawrence Tynes was diagnosed as having MRSA in August, also sat out practice. He is questionable to play against Philadelphia. The team flew in an infectious disease expert to answer questions players had before practice. Schiano said the session lasted more than an hour, pushing back the teams practice schedule. "As in anything, I think so much of the fear is the unknown," Schiano said. "So as we became better educated, I think kind of understands the game plan and how to make sure this doesnt become a bigger problem." Dr. Deverick J. Anderson, an associate professor of medicine at the Duke University Medical Center and co-director of the Duke Infection Control Outwork Network said even though there are no other confirmed cases of MRSA on other NFL teams that he doesnt feel players and staff in Tampa Bay are at any higher risk of coming in contact with MRSA. Meanwhile, NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith issued a statement on the situation. "We have been involved in an ongoing review of the MRSA incidents in Tampa Bay initiated by the concerns we had about the manner in which team officials responded to these cases," Smith said in a statement. "We advised the NFL and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that an outside expert should be brought in to assess the situation and we are pleased with their decision to take that recommendation," Smith added. "We have also been in regular contact with the player representatives from Tampa Bay. We will reach out to the Philadelphia Eagles player representatives today and provide them with our best medical guidance and regular updates from the outside experts." Smith said the situation in Tampa "underscores the need for a League-wide, comprehensive and standardized infectious disease protocol" as well as "improved accountability measures on health and safety issues by the NFL over the clubs." The initial cases of MRSA were confirmed while the Bucs were in New England holding joint practices with the Patriots before a preseason game. The team hired a company to sanitize One Buc Place, the teams headquarters and training facility, on two separate occasions in an effort to minimize the prospect of other cases. The Bucs said at the time they did not know where Nicks and Tynes were exposed to MRSA. Anderson did not plan to recommend a third cleaning of the facility, but that he was working with the team on things players can do themselves to minimize the risk of getting MRSA. "I can say that I believe it is a safe environment for players and staff," said Anderson, who toured the complex in August and also observed how the team practices after Nicks and Tynes were diagnosed in August. The expert said the cases involving Nicks and Tynes do not appear to be related, explaining there are different strains of MRSA. "We dont know about the third one yet. We still need additional information about the specific MRSA that were dealing with," Anderson said. "But we can actually definitely say that the first two cases were not related to each other." And, the doctor said Nicks and Tynes did not get the infection from one another. Nicks sat out the preseason and also missed the first two games of the regular season before being told he was "MRSA free." He started the past two games against New England and Arizona. Tynes, who helped the New York Giants win a pair of Super Bowls, signed with the Bucs before training camp. He was sidelined by an ingrown toenail on his kicking foot when he was diagnosed as having MRSA. The Bucs later placed Tynes on the non-football injury list instead of injured reserve. He is being paid his salary, however the players union has filed a grievance on the kickers behalf due concerns about how the team handled the infection. Cheap Giants Jerseys Authentic . The win puts Arsenal four points clear of Everton in fourth place with two games to play in the Premier League, a position which would qualify the club for Europes top competition for the 17th straight year. Cheap Giants Jerseys China . The 2014 edition will be the ninth meeting between the Caps and Vikes in a tradition that dates back to 2005. "Since the original Whitecaps, the club has enjoyed fantastic support from fans in Victoria and all across Vancouver Island," said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi.WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Jets know exactly how much goaltender Ondrej Pavelec has contributed to their 2-1-0 start this season. "Well over 50 (per cent)," coach Claude Noel said Tuesday after practice, where the Jets were looking at ways to cut down the scoring chances theyve been giving away. "We know where we are. We have mirrors ... in our locker-room that we look at. We know whats happened, we can see that and thats why were trying to focus on details. Its early but the Jets have been outshot 108-77 in their first three games. This isnt entirely a new sensation for the Czech-born netminder. Last season he was second in the league in the shots he faced and the Jets have built a reputation as slow starters. For Noel, the issue of shots isnt just the big number. "Shots are one thing, theyre not always the indicator for me. Theres teams that get shots. Its more shots relating to scoring chances. If the shots are 15 and youre giving up five scoring chances, thats not good." And defenceman Mark Stuart says the cure involves a lot more than just blocking pucks in front of Pavelec. They have to stop those shots from being taken. "We should be good positionally and good enough defensively where were not giving up shots, that many shots where youre trying to block everything," he said. "You should be taking away passing lanes, you should be closing on people in the slot where that guy doesnt even have an opportunity to get a shot off." Centre Bryan Little said communication is important. "Last couple of games we were getting badly outshot and outchanced and I think we were just kind of running around in (our) own end a bit and not communicating," he said. "When youre giving up as many chances as we have lately,, its a big problem and you know weve been kind of fortunate to have Pavs playing as good as he has. Cheap MLB Jerseys. " Another part of the problem is the first-period shot differential, which looks even worse. The Jets have been outshot 48-20 overall in the first period over three games. "We all have to be responsible for that, not only the players," said Noel. "Its a reflection of the preparation of the room and the coaches preparing the room and the head coach preparing the room and all of us have to be accountable for that. "It will change. We will get it squared around because its not going to go like this." Pavelec is also confident the team will turn things around. "Were trying, its not like we dont care," he said. "Were working at it. Its going to take time. We know weve got to be ready. We realize that and Im pretty sure were going to be way better next game." Whether or not Pavelec will get a rest this week is another issue. With back-to-back games Thursday and Friday, Noel didnt rule out backup Al Montoya seeing some action. "Well just have to wait and see but thats a good question," he said. The lockout-shortened 2012-13 season saw Pavelec play a league-high 44 games as the Jets fought for a playoff spot they missed by four points. They play in Minnesota on Thursday night. The Wild (0-0-2) are new divisional opponents as the Jets move from the old Southeast to the Central Division. On Friday, the Jets will play another divisional foe as the Dallas Stars (1-1-0) visit the MTS Centre. "The division games are important because you know in your division the top three teams are going to get a bye into the playoffs," said Noel. "Theyre four-point games if you can get them clean." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From ChinaCheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
